Inspired by Ridly Greig’s empty-net goal and Morgan Rielly’s ensuing reaction, DZ, Corwin and Jesse rank some of the most iconic empty-netters in NHL history on this episode of the BarDown Podcast.
lol sorry guys I said that super weird, I obviously know Perron didn’t knock out his own captain, just think that was a way more violent cross check then Rielly’s but I’m not really that upset about a 5 game suspension, a little harsher than I’d go but not totally unreasonable.
2 from Brendan Shanahan: 1997 WCF, with a fan excitedly smacking a celebrating Shanny in the face, and 2002 SCF, him jumping onto the smaller Stevie Y. Shanny said to Stevie "Your bleeding." to which the Captain replied "Yeah, you broke it when you jumped on me."
if you fell asleep during the tier list.. how would you know to come back and comment on which video you were watching when you woke up…?? i mean.. seriously guys…
I don’t get the reaction to the slap shot. It’s at home and it’s a nail in the coffin for the game. I would understand the reaction if Toronto played at home.
Ffs Corwin the guy is fine comment is ignorant af. Any DELIBERATE shot to the head needs to be penalized harshly. Injury should just be a modifier on a heavy base suspension.
My brain doesn't understand how you can get bar down when the pick is traveling above the bar and heading downward… Why doesn't it just deflect off and out… How can it come from above and hit the lower part of the bar….
I get the concern over the Red Wings, they don't take many shots, they look like the worse team on too many nights(even if they win), and they definitely don't have the high-end talent a team like Toronto has. But you know that they have the highest goals for per game in the East? Right? They are really, really bad at maintaining leads but they are also really good at erasing opposing leads because they score in bunches and draw a lot of penalties. Also, they were terrible in Dec and that's why they are on the bubble, but they are allowing almost two fewer goals per game in Jan/Feb than they were in Dec.
Sorry for the short paragraph, just wanted to add some context from someone who follows the team closely. I am concerned that they don't have the breathing room they might need and that they needed to go on a heater just to be on the edge of the playoffs, but they are definitely playing better than their standing position right now.
Reilly's hit was definitely more malicious than Scheifeles. After the play, game's out of reach, his only intent was to injure. Scheifele was trying to save the play, albeit he was completely out of control while doing so. Both bad plays, but there's no chance Reilly had less malicious intent than Scheifele
Schieff shouldn’t have gotten anything it was during the play trying to stop a goal , Rylies whilst I thought was halarious was after the play and was clearly retribution
I'm sorry but these podcasts are generally unwatchable and it's not because of the content, I love it. It's because you guys desperately need an audio engineer or something, the constant thumping and bumping that is happening on set is just brutal to listen to with headphones that have any kind of bass.
The Ridly Greig empty net goal was definitely the best by far (I’m a delusional bias Sens fan but it was pretty damn funny 😂)
Also on the AirPods topic, I worked in a rink and one time one of my coworkers was moving the nets on the ice and his AirPod case fell out of his pocket. The driver then proceeded to run them over because it’s a tiny white case on a giant white sheet of glass. In my opinion that might top Corwin’s being ran over by a car 😂
Corwin doesn't believe in the Red Wings? I don't believe in Corwin! When the Leafs fail to make the third round once again, Corwin's tears will nourish me for the whole next season. Matthews will score 70 and it will all be for nothing. SAD!

Mark Stone hitting the hat trick in the Finals on an ENG was pretty sleek
Idk why but this podcast was the best yet
Great Pod again boys, Ya’ll gotta do the trophy tier list for sure!!!
Really looking forward to next time when you guys rank the top too many men on the ice penalties of all time!
Yes the empty net goals ranking was boring but ripping on Corwin for insisting on doing it made it all worth it.
Panarin vs Tampa in game 4 sweep not on the list is crazy
Bardown guys have jumped the shark. Too old to understand wearing AirPods on the ODR
Greig goal of the year

It’s gotta be Stanley cup. Grey cup. Larry. Lambardi. World Series

Podcast was great! Maybe the best one yet! Maybe we could bring on more west coast bureau.
Listening to this almost gave me a stroke, felt like a bunch of 9th graders talking and not going anywhere.
The funniest thing about the Loui Eriksson goal is that it was his first "goal" as a Canuck

43:30 this did not need to be included
Auston Matthews said it himself. A hit like this is assault and jail time 😂
Z rubs me wrong way, such a hardo
Big W take on the cross check, Jesse
Do "HARDEST TROPHY TO WIN IN SPORTS⭐️⭐️⭐️"
How y'all didn't include Mark Stone's empty net hat trick at the Cup Clinching game.
Surprised the ulmark goal didn’t make the list, i feel the cely was much better
JUSTICE FOR MO, 5 HAMES IS WAY TO MUCH 2-3 MAX
ridly greig should had done an epic celly
Intent to injure is not hockey. Morgan Reilly is a poor sport
Should have compared the trophies along with the NASCAR championship trophy, that thing is massive and awesome

Basically an east coast podcast — not much mention of any west coast teams. Its clear none of you are based in the west…
20 minutes in no mention of any Western Conference team.s

Super Bowl "Way more fun"
Nothing is fun with Super Bowl.
No atmosphere at all, bad music and an game with absolutely nothing happening and sometimes a little game time.
Marchand was banging the glass towards his family more than he was to the canucks fans.

Since they posted this, the Red Wings have built a 10 point lead and passed the Lightning for the last wildcard spot.
Boom goes the mic. like 50x Put a Fucking fence up.
Yall wrong for putting Rantanen’s bar down in the B column.
Great video I think you should rank the best playoff goals of all time
Should redo this this next season with Nico Hischiers empty net vs Ottawa
I was at the sens vs leaf game when that happened and as a sens fan that was probably one of the best moments ever for me 😂
Z sandbagging his own podcast mid show lol
