I think they should keep the Monday qualifiers but for the guys that have cards that are not in an event
The PGA Tour just continues to deteriorate as they try to save money. Smaller fields, larger purses they can't afford- the PGA Tour continues to alienate more and more fans in their battle against LIV. It didn't have to go down like this.
There will be 10 players, 20 Events, and no viewers for the PGA Tour by 2040 lol
they need to penatlize players that play slow. They dont have the spine to do it. I remember 1 time JB Holmes play so slow it was painfully obvious. He wasnt penatized cause god forbid they pentalize a pga tour. Brentley wrote a good article I would read it. He realized it at a good time this week is stage 2 of DPWT Qualifying and 1 American said whats so good about playing on the DP world tour. Im already 7,000 in the hole and havent hit a shot.
Monday qualifiers gave players like Patrick Reed an avenue to 'play' their way onto the tour.
1-100 : Full exempt status for “Tier A” events
101-200: Exempt status for “Tier B” events
201-300: Exempt status for “Tier C” events
Tier A Event: 100 start, 50 cut, $20 million purse
Tier B Event: 100 start, 50 cut, $10 million purse
Tier C Event: 100 start, 50 cut, $5 million purse
I think the PGA just needs more events with smaller fields. Only the best get to compete for the biggest purses, but the lower-tier events can award points for players to move up the following year. Players can get relegated from higher tiers to lower tiers without completely losing PGA tour status. Higher tiers events can offer openings to Tier B or Tier C players who get hot at the moment. A win on a higher tier means automatic promotion to that higher tier
I’ve been a huge golf fan for 30 years and have watched most every round on TV. I’ve had some of the most gratifying moments watching these magicians put a little ball in tiny cups with awe. Now PGA golf has become so mundane, slow and the click club I pretty much just watch on Sunday, and even then not always. Slow play is addressed with hypocrisy and the current commissioner is clueless. And now they want to dial the golf ball down for us mere mortal golfers with whom without us there would be no tours, no golf gear industry and no ratings. You want real pressure, drama and intrigue? Make it mandatory to win a tournament every three years or it’s back to Q school. Or have a top ten number per year type situation to keep your card. The PGA tour just cruises along like an old Buick not a Corvette!
For many years the field sizes were not a pace of play problem. Have days gotten shorter or pace gotten slower? 🤔
KEEP THE MONDAY QUALIFIERS! – Everybody loves a good underdog story!
Korn Ferry tour got screwed
The March Madness comment was a poor analogy. Fans don't really want to see David beat Goliath (ultimately). They want to see two of the big boy best teams go at it. Sure, some people pull for the underdog, but fans really want to see the best talent head-to-head.
Enforce pace of play and their problems go away. Think most fans love the underdog stories so keep Monday qualifiers and as many Korn Ferry / Q school / 100-125 type guys that you can.
I think just cements that young golfers will strive to have golf YouTube channels instead trying to get on tour.
If I was a pro I'd be looking at trying to make a move to LIV.
They just can go play in the LPGA. Just have to say you a a female now. No a shift will happen to the LPGA.
All I can say to these fools who trusted Monahan, Tiger, and Rory…😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂Go work McDonald's fools!
The question Big "J" journalists should be asking is: Is there a rankings reset planned for the start of the 2026 season so that everyone starts on equal footing the season this goes into effect? If not, what's the point? It'd be like the NFL allowing the top ten teams to start 1-0.
This is so stupid! This is not growing the game and giving players opportunities to get on tour. Unbelievable whoever made these decisions are imbeciles
If anything should be more Monday qualifying and more players in tournaments
Making it impossible for good players to get on tour
