  1. Courses in Metro Detroit get a lot of play. Morning and afternoon 9-hole leagues, and booked from sunup to sundown on weekends and holidays. As a result, the fairways and greens get beaten up, and lots of courses leave the grass long in both places to try and keep it healthy and alive. Cherry Creek had always been in immaculate shape whenever I have played it, which is not too often, because all that fine grooming costs money, and my golf buddies don't like the fees at Cherry Creek (roughly twice just abody anywhere else in the northern suburbs. I caddied at a private country club for about five years and learned to appreciate good conditioning. Chery Creek comes damn near to private country club course conditions. It's worth the higher fees.
