Notre Dame recruiting update with Mike Singer: Analyzing the Irish’s new commitments | Blake Hebert

Hebert looks like a good QB for ND in this class. There are guys already in the program who could be the "future" — Carr, Minchey. So a knockout recruit wasn't really necessary. It is awesome to get a good looking prospect who fills a need. I'm happy about it.
I don't believe that they wanted him over deuce. If he picked
Clemson over ND then why would he flip now?
I, personally, think CJ Carr is the guy moving forward. That said, I would not be too surprised if Minchey beats him out. I like Hebert's skill set, coming in and maybe backing up for a few years makes a lot of sense. I think the ND QB room is in good shape, as long as guys stick around. Now, certainly, if Carr wins the QB1 job coming out of spring, it won't surprise me to see Minchey go to the portal. It just makes sense. Which is all the more reason that Hebert is a good get. Where does Angeli fit in? I love Angeli, but I think he likely gets his degree at ND then goes and starts for one season at a MAC school … or maybe even a lower level power 4 type school. My money is on Carr, but I like Minchey a lot. That is the coin toss. With what I think will be a great ND OL next year, I think ND could be great offensively with Carr … or with Minchey.
Also, I like the film on Herron. He doesn't impress me as much as Ashton Craig did back when he was being recruited (and for anyone who didn't watch Craig's highlights, please do — he was beast), but I kind of get him as a comp there. Potential C down the road. Herron's commit is one of those "nuts and bolts" gets that aren't super sexy or anything, but is definitely one of the guys who matters moving forward.
Looks like a Buchner to me in high school.
You guys do great!
A :556 completion percentage in this caliber of HS football is pretty bad.
