Erik Anders Lang Interviews Famed Golf Course designer Tom Doak
Erik Anders Lang heads to Traverse City, Michigan to visit famed golf course designer Tom Doak at his Renaissance Golf Design offices. EAL and Tom touch on all aspects of Tom’s design history from consultation to his original creations, and everything in between. Watch as Tom brings out some amazing artifacts, like a 90-year-old book that he drew inspiration from for his reversible course design.

Great interview! Thank you Erick!!
Such a great interview!
Would have loved to hear what he thinks about his failed courses and what the owners let happen to them.
Great interview Eric! Thanks for bringing this content to us. I always enjoy the Yoak with Doak podcast Andy from the Fried Egg puts on and this is also a great addition to that.
Great piece EAL! What a treat to get all the insight about The Loop from Tom. Your immediate reflections paired with all Tom's considerations in his design was fantastic. Can't wait to go play it this summer.
Amazing interview, these two courses just flew up my bucket list!
Fantastic insight. Great interview. You have a great style Anders.
An old duffer like me loves this content
Just noticed his shirt is from one of my home clubs – New South Wales GC, where he's doing some consulting work. Cool! Great video!
Great interview. Tom has such a fascinating golf mind. It's awesome to hear his thoughts and ideas regarding golf course architecture.
Trying to show off your course knowledge in front of a legend and getting corrected almost every time … i would have done the exact same thing <3
Love watching Tom think….that had to be fun. Great work…as usual. 🤙 How long until you're designing a course? 🤷🏻♂️🤓
Thanks for the peek behind the curtain!
Great interview!
Great interview Erik! ❤️ Love the thinking behind reversible courses and the creative challenges they impose ⛳️♾🏌️♂️
Where is your shirt from EAL??
I love that he talked about the Texas Tech Rawls golf course. Not because I went to Tech, but that the course is a great design and tricky to play. It is by far one of my favorite course to travel and play. This was a great interview as well as very informative in how he thinks about design. Thank you Erik for doing these amazing interviews.
Great interview from 2 great minds in the game of golf!! Very interesting listen!
that's Sia's ex-husband
29:03 the couch they are sitting on… I had the exact same couch in my childhood home. Not close in appearance, I mean identical. Got pitched back in 2013. How weird.
