i think this sport is a bit delayed in its development compared to table tennis where if you send the ball even a bit too high off the net its getting smashed back and is unreturnable.
We need more plays being made and less of the low level avoiding errors. Also just logically if your ball travels over the net net very close to netheight the angle of descent is going to be much flatter and harder to return for your opponent, forcing either a weak return or a skyball that can be smashed.
Some people might prefer using their racquet length as a reference, so… Net : 3 ft = 36 inches; 9 ft = 108 inches Or Racquet: 27 inches = 2 1/4 ft ; 9ft / 2 1/4 ft = 4x racquet lengths, Or then… Reference to positions at one’s standing straight height – shoulder/chin/eye/head crown plus straight arm raised to include height points like elbow/wrist/palm/fingertip raised above head? ~5 to 9 ft = 60 to 84 inches.
But height (and depth) really depends on situation, not so – how you receive the ball, possibility of contact point, where the opponent is, what the next shot or two could be like, intention, staying back or coming to the net, and ability to create a certain amount of spin…?
I am not a tennis player. But to me when you say that you shouldn’t play to the net and the best players aim high, and someone looking for the best odds, why would you not train to be close to net? Tennis is all about the inches, and if you good enough to play inside the lines of the pretty big court, why would you not work on the low angles and doing what most players are to scared to do?
This tip mixes up cause and effect. People are hitting the net not because they are not aiming high, but because they cant produce enough topspin for the ball to dip back down before it goes long.
That’s like saying professional football players (normal football, not eggball) run 18km on average every match so to be able to play like a professional stop running 12km per match and run 18. Sounds stupid, right? Exactly like this advice. If somebody can play tennis with that much topspin, he will know where to shoot. That’s why we train and not just compete in matches.

Y’all are aiming?!
Hope you have amazing defensive skills and don't mind running all over the court.

I successfully avoid hitting into the net by hitting over the back fence.
What
Tell that to Djokovic during his recent final against Alcaraz 😂

🤦🏻♂️
If the ball is 6 feet over the net how does it not go out?

Wait, you guys are aiming?
I will keep that in mind if I become a professional player.
They hit it in the net all the time
Really stupid vid, I can't imagine worse advice from a well meaning person. Also 3 million feet is ten atmospheres above land so…
In doubles happens to them a lot
But oh boy does a shot with pace that just barely clears the net feel good
Took his advice. Still waiting for my ball to come down from space.
If Captain Obvious was a person here we go
I've solved this problem by never playing tennis
Instructions unclear I became a moon baller 😭
Yeah dude, you're totally right. After I stop aim low and go for 2.3 million meter (sry, this is all I can get) high strat, I always won
you know where you can put your 3 net hights, right?
Wow, you are right. I had been purposefully hitting the net. Thanks!
Don’t forget to lift tho

This is excellent advice thanks 🙏
Excellent tip 👌🏾
No net errors because I make sure to hit home run every time
Out
No i will not
Still got my balls caught in the ceiling fan
Without mentioning the absolute necessity of hitting with topspin, this is half-baked advice.

or play badminton
Hit the ball into space and you’ll never hit the net!
Speed is not any height… speak to Del Potro if you dont believe😅
