Robbie Lyle joins Dougie Critchley and Michael McCubbin on this week’s Sky Mobile Transfer Show to discuss whether Arsenal’s signings make them title favourites ahead of Man City.

Having already secured the permanent signing of David Raya and Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Arteta’s side are continuing to work on a deal to bring Real Sociedad and Spain midfielder Mikel Merino to the Emirates. Is he what the Gunners need? Do they still need to strengthen in other areas? What about Arsenal’s outgoings? Will they regret letting Emile Smith Rowe join Fulham, and will Eddie Nketiah’s expected exit force them into the market for a forward?

We discuss whether Man City’s capture of Ilkay Gundogan swings the pendulum back in their favour and ask whether Savio is the only forward Pep Guardiola’s men need to secure a 5th straight Premier League title.

We wrap up the show with our Sky Mobile “Switch of the Week,” where the lineup pick their favourite transfer from the past week!

  1. This is the thing with Arsenal fans and the hub around Arsenal, they believe they can win it through the press and media before actually winning anything.

  2. Nope only chance they got is if city are found guilty in feb /march when court case is over but even if they are found guilty city will appeal it

  3. Arsenal will never be favourites whilst Man City and pep are in the league quite simple really

  4. I actually think the Gundogan signing is more similar to the Van Persie signing at Utd, for completely different reasons, but similar vibe, a short term solution to give the manager one last success. Feels a bit like the last dance for this Man City side, at least the side we have known for the last 5-10 years. Seems like they are transitioning in a way similar to how Chelsea did under Roman. Big signings to start, reduce the spending on the squad but invest in the academy facilities, start bringing through players. Lewis, Bobb (before his injury), McAtee, i expect a lot more young players getting minutes this season, and Ilkay seems like the perfect short term addition to try help this squad get over the line one last time, while it moves into a new era. Walker, Ederson, KDB, Grealish maybe even Silva and the Manager could all be gone this time next year. Pep has brought back his general to perhaps leave the team is a strong position beyond his reign. If this is a transitional season, even with the quality City have at their disposal, its becomes even more important Arsenal get over the line, its catch 22, as maybe Pep stays if they do, but Arsenal cant let City move into a new, younger, world class squad without placing themselves as a championship winning side as well that are going to make it tough season on season.

  5. Remember when you wanted to hear pundits andd ex pros talk about the game they actually played, and if you fancied a biased fan opinion from every bloke down pub ever you could watch a fan channel. Now we have this

  6. I dont see past city but it does give them a bigger chance and being able to really go in the cup competitions they will surely win something they have to I feel a United and city both won trophies the last 2 seasons I was surprised arsenal finished with nothing last year

One more player and they can win it

If they bring in a proven striker who can stay fit and finish the glut of chances they make every game

  7. We not got good enough depth in my eyes so we bottle it over Xmas period once again 😢 who I want in and out 😊

  8. The fall of sky sports is actually impressive. They’ve literally destroyed themselves with these un relatable panels. Football fans don’t want to listen to these number nerds who cant actually kick a ball. I’d rather listen to a half drunk ex pro any day.

  9. Who would you prefer as a choice Victor Osimhen in attack or Riccardo Calafiori another defender who is now an Arsenal player.

  10. The favourites to win are City again, Arsenal are title contenders . Merino will give Arsenal more depth and will cover 8 as an upgrade on Rice who is naturally a 6 and therefore his best suited in that defensive midfielder position.

  11. Idk why people are so scared to say it, but we are not winning the league if we don’t sign a world class proven striker. We’ve seen this over the last two challenging seasons 🤷🏾‍♂️

  12. Does signing an almost unknown player untested in premier league now make Arsenal favourites? Lol yeah, right

  13. arsenal would have to sign mbappe and bellingham to be considered favs for the league guardiola lives rent free in everybodies minds until he leaves city will start every league season sizeable favourites thats the level of his genius players are usually the difference between which side wins or loses a league title but in this league right now we have a unique situation in that one manager's tactical wizardry is the difference between the league being wide open to 3 teams or city being clutch every year the man just does not not get enough credit or love he's practically doctored football to his own personal style to the point where his closest challenger is a former student at the football university of Pep and if i was the FA i'd sell my soul to get him into the hot seat with england because im convinced he ends the cycle of heartache and pain

  14. Robbie: i don't thini it's going to be Osshimen or Gyokeres.
