  1. Rodri should take his frustrations out on his boss Pep and his rotation policy. City’s squad should be big and strong enough to handle their fixtures. Players should be able to manage between 30 and 40 games a season on average, players in previous generations did, some of whom btw recieved a fraction of what they earn now and played on horrible pitches. This isn’t an issue for the authorities. Pep wants to win every game and he sees Rodri as a central figure in this case. Boohoo

  2. Use the squad, managers like Ten Hag will bench many players for 80% of the season anyway. Use squad and integrate youth more. This is a good opportunity if managers get creative for fringe players

  3. Players will need to accept less money if play less – but need get rid of the pointless international competitions like nations league and larger club World Cup so the standard of club games stays at high level

  4. The game is losing emotions. The governing bodies are just interested in making more money. Their referee’s no longer skilled to manage players and just made to be the main focus of the show. You not only have to play like a robot, you have to function regularly like one too. The football is becoming sterile. The game’s not that great anymore

  5. Enough is enough… Those two responsible must stop their greed is pathetic… The current schedule is disgusting… These players are employees, they'll move release where… Massive brexit in football, surely… This is the top tournament, it should be quality not quantity… Does wc have 500 games? Everything is messed up… 2 cup tournaments unnecessary, 20 teams in league too much, obviously if you play so much the bottom league teams will win… These idiots responsible all these years planning for the future, they couldn't see this coming!!!… NFL great example, defined number of games, very well planned & executed, and appreciated by everyone, no nonsense… 1 cup (no home-away at any level) & 18 (ideally 16) team league that's it

  6. It's true that the new format dilute quality as well as playing too much.

Actually, as an audience. I don't want more games. I rather have high quality games rather than lots and lots of match throughout the year. It's tiring even as an audience. Now imagine how the players feel.

It's all greed from the executives. Neither the fans nor the players want this many games.

  7. start by scrapping the nations league and carabao cup. fans want high quality high intensity matches over quantity. UCL format did not need changing.

  8. I bet you the young players coming up would love a shot at champions league. Or more premier league games.

Give the players that are on the bench a go.

Liverpool won the champions league on that year with their FULL Squad.

It’s just the starting 11 that will hate it, but those on the bench will pray for a injury so they can get a chance and contribute.

  9. It's the clubs themselves that are pushing for these changes to get more money though. Players need to have these conversations with their employers more so than the media.

  10. When fergie won treble. They had beckham and gary neville on the right with no back up. Had to play the whole season by themselves, butt scholes keane three of them had to cover 40-45 games by themselves. All with 3 subs, players suspended in the final and less advanced medical science, up against zidane and davids, ronaldo, vieri, rivaldo, stefan effenberg and kahn etc. meanwhile city can afford to loan 60 million pound player to ipswich, and have a 40 million back up left back and 5 subs. I thought pep guardiola is the best ever? If fergie had larger bench he would have won more than one treble around late 90s and early 2000. The italian and spanish teams had more depth than english teams at that time.

  11. Football has become all about money. Thats it. Its not highly skillful or technical anymore. Its simply athleticism. In the game today there no Zidane's, no Totti's, no Bergkamp's, no Ronaldinho's, no Messi's etc etc. Look at Haaland, he is simply determination and athleticism. No skills, no great technique. Mbappe is the same, he is fast and can finish but nowhere near a great footballer.

  12. Most teams have a big squad, so they can use all the players who is sitting on the bench game after game, and the players who think its too much for them, can rest. I am sure the fringe players all wants to play, so this shouldnt be an issue. They earn millions and people who work 10-12 hours every day earn what these guys earn in a day….and never complain.

  13. Other sports leagues players have gone on strike for player safety. More than 50 a year is too much, sports is broken down into a science now and we all know rest is the most important aspect of physical training

  14. Stop being cry babies and play the game if not quite plenty other who will play them for the money u guys are being paid. Just a bunch of cry babies in my eyes.

  15. Institutional greed seldom promotes the welfare of the individual (player). I e. this is a systematic issue where money talks while players risk their long-term health and physicality over added fixtures and competition. But of course, the most important thing in football is raising stock valuations and revenues for the shareholders we care so much about

  16. You want less games, take less money, the players are why there is so much greed in football now

  17. How about they play a full 12 months of the year, instead of having a few months holiday?

I have to work 12 months of the year for what they make in a week, so suck it up and play on.

If you’re tired and can’t play, then bring on one of the vast amount of subs you have?

  18. I don't think this is such a Big deal .
Players don't need to play that much. coaches need to learn how to rotate. squared Dept is the solution beside most of this players want to play all the matches.

  19. But if a team has 30 players, why can't they rotate?

The players that dont normally play can play the less important competitions like caraboa cups and weaker teams in the league.

Most teams have enough players to form two squads. So they should use all their players instead of parking them on the bench.

The normal starting 11 can then play in the UCL and impprtant matches in the league.

  20. Multi millionaires complaining about how they earn their money.

Frankly it's ridiculous. Would you prefer to have less money too?

How thoroughly entitled and frankly disingenuous.

  21. Elite sport is only ever about making money. The players clearly love the money. They could choose to take a huge cut in wages and go and play for less successful teams but no, they chase the money.

  22. One thing I've realized is that these players don't have players' association. Hence, these UEFA boards can wake up and make stupid decisions against the players.

Maybe if players go on strike, then UEFA and FIFA can stop with their nonsense.

The stupidest game around is the Nation's league. What's the need for?
    It's crazy.

And people talking about money are just salty and envious of the players.

If you work, particularly contract jobs, you will know that you decide your worth. A graphic designer can charge you $10k for just a logo, and another can charge $1k. That's their individual worth.

Don't ask players to die because they earn millions.

  23. Only 11 players can play at a time. Clubs are allowed 21-25 players at their disposal. Meaning 50% of their squard can play at any given time.
Clubs and manager should recruit players that are functional and allow them use at least 90% of their squad. The minutes should be shared.

Players complaining of game time dont complain when negotiating hug wages, if you're signing for a big club you should know such club plays in different competitions which is how they (Clubs) raise revenues for players humongous salaries.
And its not compulsory you must represent your country too, if you feel you're playing too many games. There are other players who can also represents.
There are more than enough footballers in the world who wants to get a call, they should be called.
