Matt shares his expert insights on the rigs, bait, and tactics he uses to successfully draw in those bigger fish and gain the competitive edge. 1. Great video and some great tips – thanks Matt. Interesting to see the Stainforth & Keadby in fine form as it always seemed to fish rock hard for my visits on the NFA Nationals back in the 80s & 90s…

  2. These are the video’s for me Matthew. Though i prefer a casting (match) rod, still lots of tips in the video. Yes… canal fishing is a waiting game, but so rewarded.

  3. Grown up fishing the canal from Thorne to Crowle. Happy days! Great video to watch.

You get any chub out of the canal Matt thesedays? Used to get them but don't see them now.

  4. Great video. And amazing how it’s changed. Do you remember at the start of matches chucking across with a bomb and lobworm. Praying for a bonus chub. Or god forbid two. !? If you managed to snare a chub. You instantly thought I’m in here! 5 hours later. You’d been scratching for a few pounds. Still great matches though. 👍

  5. Hi Mat, great video on what looks to be a great venue. How would you go about fishing it if you don't fish with a pole?

  6. Lovely real angling nails 🙂 Ruber gloves trend is unacceptable 🤮 in competition world….mognificent video👌

  7. You can't beat canal tench. I do hate the phrase "Probably never been caught before" though unless it's a tiny fish or it's your own private water! 😉
