  1. Keep on keeping on, Matt. You ARE a really good player. Work on quieting the mind….

    Good luck!

  2. I can't believe that the comp resumed with the condition of the 9th green being like what we can see in the video. Well done, considering the circumstances.
PS: I want a Mizuno hoodie like this one. 👍

  3. Great to dissect the round with your thought process for each shot Matt. What went well, what didn't. Backing off is one of the hardest things to do along with concentration for a full round. Loving the positive mindset. Stay steady and best of luck with the next one.

  4. First off, I'll declare now I was the 1-person 'crowd' you referred to when describing your birdie at the 2nd.

Love this style of vlog, and watching you in person confirmed what a sound bloke you are. The fact that you're playing serious golf in a pro comp makes it even more interesting than when you're playing a round on your own or with a guest. Great work, and I reckon all you need is one or two more comps like this to get used to the environment and your best golf will come through, which is definitely good enough to win at this level.

Looking forward to the next one.

  5. i saw you the other day at Bolton Golf Club you looked over at me a couple times as i was walking past😂😂( i had curly hair and a grey carry bag).

  6. Love this! It’s exactly what us average golfers need to see. We’re not the only ones! The process you’re going through is great to see…and model. So easy to have a bad streak of holes and start spinning out of control…instead of taking a deep breath and putting it back together. Thanks Matt!

  7. This was a very good documentary of your round. I think maybe you might want to have a caddy along to bounce ideas off for the next one, if only to reinforce what you're planning to do and stick to the shot you ultimately decide to play. Looking forward to see the next one.

  8. Refreshing idea that worked really well on video, looking forward to seeing more of the same, Just one thing, who was that annoying bloke that kept popping up in the bushes on some of the tees ?? Cheers Matt.

  9. Well played Matty! +2 is nothing to scoff at. Your mental game has come a long way. Began following you because you were one of the only ones willing to put a Mizuno driver in a couple of years back, and seeing your game come a long way has been wonderful to see. Learned a lot that can be applied to my own game, even if I'm not at all a long hitter. Shot by shot is a great way to play it.

Thank you for the many hours of entertainment. This was a great format.

  10. Close Matt. A few silly errors with the short game a one time strength. Mental game better and some practice it won’t be long before the win 👍🤞

  11. I really appreciated your honest diagnosis, Matt. This approach is something that I have adopted, though sometimes it’s hard to fall into old habits. Keep up the great work!

  12. Thanks for letting us know what you thought. For me it sounds that really committing to the shot is key – will try this on my next rounds.

  13. If you do figure out how to back away from a bad set up or a poor swing thought, please let us know how you did it. Like you and pretty much every golfer in the world it is a skill that would save me some many strokes. Well played and it was very nice to see your work paying off. I am looking forward to the next tournament round as well as you playing with other skilled golfers to improve yourself.

  14. Matt – FYI – Thinking that has worked for me over the years on the course is: 1: What kind of shot is called for? Then 2: Do I have the skill level to execute that shot? And then 3: If not, what is my best alternative? This approach usually keeps me in play and minimizes the damage to my scorecard. MG

  15. Have just started the first minute of the video so have no idea how you did. Doesn't matter because I want to say big respect for putting yourself out there & having a go. Us non-pro's enjoy seeing the process & learning from it. It's less about how you did. Respect 👊

  16. Firstly congrats on a fine effort and a really entertaining video.
Secondly it's great to hear you've been working on your mental game – personally I want to know exactly what you are doing there. Can we have a video on this please
I still think that as soon as you think about numbers your game goes downhill.
When you ignore results and concentrate on process you proved you have the skillset to compete with, and beat, your peers.
Don't set yourself scoring targets, they hold you back every time.
But again – a huge improvement on your open qualifying. If you can keep this process going, you'll win one of these soon enough….👏👏👏👏

  17. I like this for a better than many of the others. You are very relatable here and we all recognise the challenges that you faced

  18. Its good to see you talking about it, after the round, instead talking to camera all through the round. Which must put off the playing partners, as well as Rick and Peter. Yes, they need to take a leaf out of your book. 100% Concentration and no ego. 👍 Well done.

  19. Do you have an video of your stretching excercises, I am no young chicken even (more an old Cockerel)

  20. Love this format, Matt. It's definitely the way forward. Well played by the way. Been way hung you for two years now and this is only my second comment. More of this please.

  21. I love the format Matt. I’m not sure the mid-high handicappers will appreciate it but as a 4hcp it’s great to hear you talking it through to reinforce the messages I tell myself every round.

  22. Sorry mate really wanted to watch it all but got bored. Many talk over the footage so we can watch somthing rather than watching you talk.
