If you are in the UK or Europe and you have used my code to buy a SkyTrak+ please respond to this as you could win a FREE golf lesson with me.
When you digitally put the screen capture as your room screen you did it really nice. Don’t like that you did it so well that it seemed like there was no shot delay at all! Haha.
Thanks Mark, a helpful review. You gave a similarly positive review of the Mevo Plus. For someone looking mainly for stroke/game improvement (will play some simulation golf but this is secondary to game improvement) which would you advise
ST+ owner here… its fantastic
How does this compare to the Mevo+ with Pro in terms of accuracy and ease of use etc
I just ordered this for my home golf sim I just built. Can’t wait to get it. What drove me to get this one is the analytic data on the screen that gives you the optimal numbers in green and if you need more spin, etc, it’s in orange or red. This will help your game tremendously if you can adjust and make these numbers as close to green as possible. I have a tendency to deloft my irons and I have low launch and low spin. I’m looking to see this data to increase my launch, loft presented, and increase my spin…I know the distance will drop some due to this, but when I get in the 3-5 irons, launch is too low to hold greens typically. This is a valuable tool for people wanting to analyze their game and see actual numbers improve with what works. I also have a mlm2pro but I don’t like having to keep buying 70 dollar a box balls just to get my numbers. Also, quite a bit of misreads and totally doesn’t read on the mlm2pro. When it does read it is accurate. Software way better on skytrak. Graphics better on skytrak. Data gathered and presented data is better on skytrak. Hitting space is minimal with skytrak due to camera vs radar. It is more expensive, but it is worth it. Plus to get the player package for 250 per year is a good deal to get all the tools, plus WGT and E6 access. I pay 15 per month now for awesome golf and the stock rapsodo software blows. Awesome golf is good and fun, but only has 4 courses and they are cartoony. But at 15/ month…that’s 180/year…not far off from 250/year for skytrak player preferred package and you don’t get anywhere near the benefits. Thanks for the discount code Mark!
I'd love to own one but for the price it's a no no. The subscription on top is just the cherry on the cake of no.
Can you use this with practice balls or does it need to be with a real golf ball?
@marrkcrossfield when does this comp close?
Thanks for the review. Sadly I have to disagree with your assessment based on my experience over the last few weeks.
I have just returned my SkyTrak plus for a full refund for the following reasons:
1- constantly lost connection between the SkyTrak plus and the iPad. This was even after SkyTrak support finally admitted that the tech doesn’t like mesh networks and I consequently set up a totally separate network on a hard wired access point, taking care to separate the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands as the SkyTrak doesn’t like those on the same SSID either. Still the unit constantly loses connection in both direct mode and network mode.
2- the app- what a piece of underdeveloped junk, it crashes randomly, does not follow even the most basic design standards for iOS software and whilst the features are great the usability is awful especially if you try to use it with a newer iOS device without the home button and why on earth do you have to come out of the app every time you switch between functions in the app?
3-accuracy of the readings: I found that the carry distances were pretty accurate but that was the only accurate reading that I got – and that’s available for $300 with the Garmin. The spin rates, face angle, face to path, launch angles were all way off vs a Trackman. In fact I tried to get my unit to give me an out to in and open face reading by deliberately chopping across the line with a massively open face and the reading was face angle 3 open and path inside 4 degrees !!!!
All told this is a totally underdeveloped piece of technology that shouldn’t be beyond the alpha lab let along on the market to consumers.
Yes, it’s the best.
Great video and info. We wanted the actual comparison of the accuracy. Side by side on the same ball that was hit. Is it catching the same spin numbers or is it 400 rpms or whatever off. That would be the next thing.
Thanks for the review I think I am going to pull the trigger on one
I've had the ST+ since it first came out. I agree with all of the praise you give it. You didn't mention customer service so I will. I upgraded from original Skytrak to the ST Plus and the new unit was malfunctioning. I explained the issue on a chat with Skytrak cust. svc.. Within minutes they sent (by eamail) me a return authorization number. As soon as they had confirmation that I dropped off at UPS, they shipped a new unit that same day. New unit works perfectly. Only knock is that it is almost impossible to speak by phone to customer service. They are however very helpful on a live chat.
I think an important factor is the devices ability to integrate to the software you want to play. I have tried many, and keep coming back to Gspro. Without that integration I think it’s a deal killer. And many of my friends have passed on this device for that reason alone.
Is the swing speed accurate? I’ve heard it was the only datapoint that wasn’t.
What is the best golf sim that isn't a Trackman?
are you going to review Bushnell range pro??
Another objective and open review Mark, thank you as always. I am thinking about a home set-up when I retire back to the UK. Would you be able to do a continuation of reviews for people thinking the same as me? I appreciate this may only be a small number of your followers (lucky ones) so understand if it is not viable. However, I love to at least hear what you have learned setting your Pro facilities up. Thanks again…
Looks like they don't ship to Ireland!
Mevo+ is gonna have to do!
Best rip off.
Can anyone tell me who has used it, is there any lag or time taken from when the ball is hit to when the shot is registered on the screen? Or is it in real time or there abouts?
How difficult is it to switch from right handed and left handed golfers?
Might be the best, but the subscription fees to run gspro are expensive!
