  1. I'm happy with the Astros lineup. Pena (.267/.788 last 30 days) and Gamel (.294/.812 same) are a very strong 6-7 hole. Not a lot of teams have lineups that deep.

Altuve's numbers have been down for the season, but he's hot lately (.311/.857 last 30 days).

If healthy, they look primed to hang another banner.

  2. The Astros since the ASG are 3rd or 4th in Batting Ave and hits…but RBI's they're like 12th. They need someone to get RBI. Hopefully Tucker can make it happen.

  3. Solution is to use Justin” full-tilt diva” Verlander out the bullpen, pitchers greater than him have done it, Smoltz ‘95 braves, Randy Johnson ‘01 D-backs, el duque Hernández ‘05 ChiSox, just to mention a few, don’t see how Astros r willing to gamble in a95% chance of losing a game with JV just because he feels he don’t belong in bullpen , f. Him

  4. I think Bregman and Verlander will be gone next year, which will free up about $50 million. They can put Whitcomb and Dubon at third and sign a mid-grade starter, freeing up enough to sign Tucker to a six-year, $170+ million contract. I like Bregman, but he hasn't put up Tucker's offense numbers. With Tucker back in RF, we might see the Astros let McCormick go. They might sign a FA LF or trade McCormick and Leon for one. They might keep Gamel as a budget backup.

  5. I’d let Bregman walk. He has been a great player for us but with the dead money triumvirate of Abreu/Montero/McCullers, we gotta suck it up for a year. I trust Dana Brown to find a decent solution. He has been very solid this year. He didn’t have anything to do with the Bagwell/Crane decisions before he arrived

  6. I’m not even concerned about Seattle. I’m more concerned about the Rangers getting that last Wildcard spot. That would mean a matchup with them in the first round. I don’t like that for the Astros!

  7. I’d like to sign Kikuchi and drop McCullers who has been a big waste. How long has he been gone, since 2022?

  8. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO GET JV OUT OF HIS MISERIES.ADVISE HIM TO GO ON IL HE HAS TO HAVE SELF RESPECT. I HOPE HE IS NOT COMING BACK NEXT YEAR TO ASTROS.LET HIM MILK ANOTHER OWNER.

  9. yordan at 3 with potentially men on base makes a pitcher sweat a lot more. I guess im kind of stick with what got you here guy put tucker at 4 diaz at 5

  10. All that talking and the two biggest elephants in the room were not mentioned at all.

#1 Meyers is impersonating Maldonado every time he comes to the plate. His defence is not so good that we should ignore his pathetic bat.

#2 Verlander is basically doing his rehab in the majors and costing us games that we should be winning. Rehab in AAA and then come back and join the bullpen. He does not deserve to be in the playoff roster as a starter.

  11. Completely disagree with Charlie, nearly all of those AL teams mentioned in market for Bregman are ridiculous. Mariners don’t spend, they’re not going to outbid the Astros lol. Diamondbacks have Suarez, they like him, and he’s cheaper. Yankees are in on Soto, they’ll back burner Bregman until Soto signs and Bregman would only be a desperate pivot in the case they lose Soto to Mets.

  12. First, it is hard to go wrong. When you pick a team to go anywhere from 1st to last in the division. I would not give anybody props for that prediction. They can beat or lose to anyone on any given day. Brilliant.
