The FN guns are made in the Columbia plant now. FN had a merger between FN America and FN MI. My personal m16a4 has the Columbia, SC markings
The Marine Corps still has so many M16A4s😂 our armory maintains about 20 with old ismit M16s and civilian market purchases when needed.
I have the Aero Precision M4A1 clone lower for a build ,and it's marked."M4A1", and "Property of USA" and with "Auto" selector marked. Really nice. And it has an adjuster to take up slack between the upper and lower. Beautiful. And it was $120 bucks.
In experience i haven't had luck with aero being in spec, just my experience

My new colt a4 has a “carbine” roll mark. Keep up the lazy work colt
The m16a4 clone I went with was dsa. It's pretty close. it uses a chrome lined barrel and came with the metal magazine sling vertical grip and quad rail. Only parts not correct are the bcg isn't 158, it uses m4 feed ramps and says auto instead of burst on the lower.

Aero is a great producer of AR15 parts.
The FN example is quite good. My vet buddy got one because he fell in love with his FN from when he served.

I have an Aero M16A4. Slapped a surplus P&S rail, vert grip, and a Strike Eagle 1-6 on it. Once i figured out that the reticle on is kinda tuned for a 16" barrel, and I needed to establish my own holdovers for various distances, I was shocked by the accuracy and capability at diatance. Im used to 16" guns, and this just feels like a laser gun. It is a noticeable increase in range. 600yd shots are pretty easy and repeatable. Love the gun.

Be aware that just because a company subcontracts out to another company does not mean that every component that the subcontractor makes is made to that one purchasing company's spec. Shops can have multiple lines of similar products that meet a more or less stringent standard. One need only look at PSAs normal products and their sabre line to see this.
Built my clone off an M16A4 marked Aero lower. It has the BURST marking, but an FN Military Collector's A4 I looked at had an AUTO marking, oddly enough.
I bought an a4 upper from aero about a year ago and its easily my favorite rifle
Iron sights and fixed bayonets ..only if it was the m5 in 308 with enhanced bcg with sand grooves.

Chris is simply using the term as it's commonly perceived these days, but it's really sad that 'budget' has become synonymous with 'cheap'. BUDGET means good quality at a relatively low price. Aero is the very embodiment of a budget product.
This is making me itch for an A2 or A4 copy, even though I am an A1 fan, first and foremost!
