Old Head Golf Links – The Craziest Golf Course on Earth?

Old Head Golf Links – Course Vlog

Situated in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean (literally), this was the craziest course that I’ve ever seen or played. The course is located in Kinsale, Ireland and is 220 spectacular acres that jaunt out into the Atlantic Ocean.

The wind was bananas – although our caddie, Ian, said that it was a calm day in Ireland. Ian actually caddied for Erik Anders Lang when he visited the course.

Another celebrity who graced the links of Old Head was Tiger Woods. Tiger, Payne Stewart, David Duval and a few other buddies went to play Old Head when it first opened in 1997.

The course was incredible, the wind was insane, the views were spectacular, and the shots were pretty good as well.

We managed to get quite a bit of quality footage (thanks Kell) so we thought it would be cool to share the experience with you. If you have any plans on travelling to Ireland, feel free to reach out and ask questions you’d like! Send an email to knggolf@protonmail.com and we’ll get back to ya!

We might even do another one of these vlogs from our experience at Tralee Golf Links on the same trip. Too soon to say!

  1. Old Head is on the top of my bucket list courses to play, really cool seeing it from a players point of view.

  2. I played this with my dad when I was younger. Ian was our caddy! It was unreal. When he pointed to the ocean and said “hit it there the wind will bring it back” that’s when I realized how nothing else can compare to this gem. My dad loved it so much he’s moving from Canada to Kinsale for retirement.

  3. Played today. Sunny skies but 40-45 mph winds. Brutal. When we checked in, the Pro behind the register asked us if was our first time. We said yes and he burst out laughing. Now we know why. 😊.

  4. Great. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed the commentary. If you go to Scotland, the Castle Course at St Andrews has great views over the town. The 17th is a daunting par 3 over a ravine across to the green on another cliff, made harder when the Ranger arrives and decides to watch your tee shot!! We both made the green, remarkably under the pressure but I 3 putted!! These sure are great memories to have for life. Thanks.

  5. The first time I went to Ireland on a golf trip, we went to the Southwestern part of the country. We played Lahinch, Ballybunion, Waterville and a few others. The wind had to be 25 mph with gusts above that. I remember the locals telling us that it was a mere breeze when we were at the pubs in the evening. They loved giving the business to us Americans. I did love the golf there and went back two more times, visiting other parts of the country and playing other beautiful courses.

I remember our Caddy looking at me as I pulled out my four iron to hit out of the high heather. He says, “we normally hit a wedge and get it back in to play“. I said thanks, but I’m going to give it a shot. I hit it about 10 yards, put my four iron back in the bag and pulled out a wedge.

  6. Played here four years ago……..Old Head is a real gem. It should be at the top of your golf bucket list…….amazing views, caddies, and the entire staff was awesome.
Someday would love to play here again. This video absolutely brought back fond memories…….Thank you !

  7. What a discovery! Thanks for sharing. For me this belongs to the league of the most unusual brilliant courses, together with Lofoten Links.

  8. Your video seems like a realistic rendition of playing this course. The Old Head website shows it in bright sunshine with folks having champagne on a deck overlooking the fairway. I still would like to play this course though!
