  1. I don't think Gordon's confidence is affected. Not only was he late to pre-season, his match fitness was not helped by the Euros.

  2. Is it just me or does Darren eales comes across more creepy than Dan cashworth?? Paul Mitchell comes across as extremely arrogant and I don't think wor Eddies body language in press conferences has been the same……

  3. I think you just have to look at Gordon's form dip since Southgates clownery to see what happened. I pray he gets some quality time during the break, get his head back in the game.
Great news about Tripps, but I kinda suspected when the Saudi window closed. I think he's gonna relish his great form right now.
More good news about willock, but we need to be cautious and protect him. He's got lots of work to do this season

  4. Yes it was ridiculous the amount of playing time Gordon got with England he would have been better of going on holiday because he was not getting enough playing time on the pitch and way take him with England if he had no intention of give him much game time ridiculous decision by Southgate

  5. He came back down ,you could see it on his face ,southgate knocked his self belief, nasty pastie southgate!

  6. Thanks Paul for the usual high standard news edition.
Gordon was obviously disappointed with Southgate but luckily Lee Carsley who managed the U21 Euro's has seen that not only can Anothony do a job but is good enough to get man of the tournament. Gordons lack of form could be his late start. Let us not forget that he nearly all of last season with no holiday last year and a late one this year. I am sure thatit won't take him long to come good. I only hope a new contract doesn't take long.
Pleased to hear that Joe Willock won't be long being back. The two Joe's compliment and cover each other so well and with Bruno, Tonali, Sean and Lewis Miley we are very strong in midfield and not many clubs can compete with that.
I don't think Botman will be allowed to come back early by Bunce. There again Sven was trying to be ready for the Euro's. This time he has two years before the Word cup so no real push on his part.
Nixon's disappointment is understandable given that under Ashley he had a lot of control. To have to give way under Dan the snake was bad enough but to give way a second time to to Paul Mitchell will surely disappoint him. I think it will depend on how Mitchell uses him. Any change, and there will be big changes, will be upsetting but I am sure Nixon will eventually fit in.
Finally I hope that Tripps stays. He is firstly a leader both on and off the pitch. He will be a great backup for Tino and In my opinion he should be offered a new contract as player/coach to try and keep him in the club for a very long time.

  7. For once i thought Southgate’s squad he picked was what we’ve been saying for years but team selection was questionable Gordon next to no mins palmer lack of mins and a few others

  8. The worst thing for Gordon was also seeing how England were so ineffectual on that left hand side – so it was a double whammy for him – 1) not playing 2) and then seeing the dross being played in front of his eyes…

  9. Really happy we are keeping Tripps, we couldn't afford to let him go because we had such a shit transfer window, great news about Willock 💪

  10. Absolutely gutted he didn't get to play at the euros. If he had played a part in the euros he would certainly have come back better.So.maybe that has affected him.But I do believe he will bounce back big style.

  11. Absolutely spot on Paul.

Great to hear Tripps is not bring allowed to leave, we need him to keep Tino on his toes …

    TINOOOO TINNNOOOOO

And like you say, we have to have faith in the new ownership that we have been crying out for .. the Guehi thing was a set back but only a mild one .. msybe we still get him in January or next summer ..

  12. Gordon had hardly any time off this summer or last cos of under 21 tournament. I know he's young but still needs rest at times

  13. It is sad for Gordon, and this could be one of the driving factor that might force him to move from the toon. Idiots like Southgate overlook our players and only pick players from the big clubs. I am glad Southgate ultimately failed. Gordon will get another chance, Southgate won't.

  14. Gordon played the best English pass in the Euros tournament in the 4 minutes he played. Get stuck in, lad, we love ya style👏👏👏

  15. It was an absolute disgrace that Gordon wasn't given a chance. What it showed was Southgate's limitations not Gordon's. In my view his poor form is a combination of the England situation, no pre-season, the PSR fiasco, loss of a good mate in Anderson and maybe even the turmoil within the club.

Keeping Trippier is great news 👍😎

🤞re Joe Willock. He gives us pace with quality.

Mitchell is talking the talk, let's see him walk the walk. Not impressed thus far. To me Eales is the main problem though.

  16. If England had of been in the other half of the draw they'd have been out in the 1/4's, we dodged a bullet then put the nation to sleep.

  17. Southgate and Bruce set back players whenever they get involved, Gordon should have played more, if you are picked then not played is a slap in the face. We know Carsley will play him and with any luck he'll show Southgate up for the rubbish he is.

  18. Really want to see our young forward get some time, hope we can get 3 up v Wolves in 60 mins and he can get to play.

  19. I still love having Trippier in the lineup. I agree that at 33 he has lost pace and is not quite fist team material anymore. That said, he is the epitome of being a "super sub" because he still has game to offer in the last third of a match. If he can accept that role, his off-field contributions can pay dividends with the young guys. And he is still the smoothest on delivering set pieces.

  20. Paul your right , Gordon’s confidence has to have been knocked by “ backwards , sideways, Southgate “ but I think it’s a combination of all 3 , 1, not getting a chance at the Euro’s ; 2 finding out after a fantastic season he was an Elliot and Minteh deal away from being shipped to Liverpool , 3 no game time Euro’s and late back to pre season . Kids got a great mind set though and will soon be firing on all cylinders, hopefully starting off with England today under Lee Carsley. HWTL 😃👍

  21. 5:05 the same thing happened with Wilson when he went away with England and didn’t get played. His head dropped. It must be gutting to be called up and barely get to touch the ball

  22. Gordon is not the only player to start slowly. After this tournament, Watkins, the CP centre half, has not looked like a 70m plus superstar. It's not unusual for players who go to tournaments to have slow starts.
