    Absolutely love Hartlepool GC. Never had a bad round there. Castle Eden is quality as well, just up the road.

    Played it a few years ago, snow on the ground all the way there, even driving up, as we went under the railway onto the course, CLEAR 😮😁. Some winter greens in play, better than some 'summer' greens I've played. Great course.

    The second hole you played that par 3 is very similar to the 13th at Dunstanburgh Castle course (another James Braid course) about the same distance and if you were short or left you were playing 3 off the tee, great fun and James Braid courses are just brilliant, love em😊

    Played some lovely courses down that side never played Hartlepool would love to play it looks cracking course, should try Seaton crew or redcar Cleveland down there to both great courses

    The story of Billy Barry and the knakka yakka tournament. In the late 1980's a match was created between the miners living up the coast who were members at Hartlepool, known as pit yakkers, and the Poolies, who were named the knakkers. At the time, I think it was 16 a side. Bill Barry was a founder of the competition, other names come to mind, Ronnie Jones, The Admiral, Brian Bruce, Billy Watson, Frankie Baggs, so many characters playing for fun. After the match, local celebrities and comedians, singers and anyone who could do a turn, would entertain the crowd in the golf club. As far as I'm aware,the competition is still held every year.

    As a member I wonder what you would've made of it during the English amateurs. A whole week of hardly any wind and blue skies! I talked to many visitors who thought the place was great, and 1 who thought he was in Portugal! Rare we get it that nice. Great video guys.
