On Episode 521 of Spittin’ Chiclets, we are saddened by the untimely passing of both Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau and our thoughts and prayers go out to their entire family and friends. Both were amazing people on and off the ice and from the entire Spittin’ Chiclets crew, we offer our deepest condolences. The majority of this episode was recorded before the news came out and we hope it can offer an escape in such tragic times.

This Episode has a collection of the best moments from interviews over the summer from Mark Messier talking about his guarantee win in game 6 of the playoffs Vs. New Jersey to Arber Xhejak’s unlikely rise from working at Costco to entering the NHL. But first, the guys discuss Swayman as his contract extension looms over the Bruins. Biz has a wicked sleeping problem, Whit had the ultimate dad moment, and Chiclets Cup is just a few weeks away. All this and more on this weeks episode.

  1. Would be nice if Bix didn’t try to make a joke out of literally everything. Enough with the screaming SeaBass every single topic lol great job on the into fellas

  2. As a life-long Edmontonian and Oil fan and season ticket holder I really always wished I could hate J. Gaudreau, much as I wished I could have hated Flamers like Lanny and Theo in the past. But I couldn’t. I ended up going to as many Battle of AB games as I could because he was such a joy to watch play live, even when it was occasionally dismantling my beloved Oilers and making our D look silly at times. And from EVERYTHING I’ve EVER heard or read about Johnny, as much as a blessing as he was to the hockey world on the ice, he was even more of a blessing to everyone he came into contact with off the ice. I’m sorry for not knowing much about Matty, but from the sounds of it he carried himself with much the same class and decency as his older bro. No family deserves to be struck with such a tragedy, but it always feels even worse when it happens to a family that is unanimously reported as a clan of wonderful human beings. Sincerest condolences to all the Gaudreaus and the seemingly endless # of people they have positively impacted whose hearts will be in anguish for a long time. To Whit and Biz; I’ve always appreciated you two goofballs even if I disagree with your opinions or when I had to watch a shirtless (BBB) Bandwagon Bouncing Biz going nuts on Rogers Place big screen a couple sections over from me during our Final run this June. I appreciate you two goofballs even more after watching your off-the-cuff speaking from the heart about this tragedy, and the sincere emotion that was obviously affecting you both. Many kudos gents on addressing a horrible event with even more class and tact than I was aware either of you were capable of. I’m bout to drink a toast of Pink Whit on ice to you and the Gaudreau family and friend group. Bravo fellas. Sincerely yours, Bunji in YEG.

  3. Not since The Bus Wreck has the hockey world been so devasted. Why such good people are taken is truly diabolical. Hope for those familys a heartfelt hug and strength to carry forward.

  4. So by no means am I excusing the dumbass that was driving, throw the key away. And I know hockey fans love them some pops, so I know where I'm treading here.
I do however want to bring more awareness to the fact that alcohol truly shouldn't even be as normalized as it is. Without even being a drinker, It has taken so much from me, before I even came into this world it had already made it's imprint on my life so I'm absolutely qualified to speak on such a thing.
Of course people should only drink responsibly and not drive under the influence, but since when has this country EVER followed by that rule of thumb? Literally never.
We have years and years and years worth of evidence, with endless lives and families torn apart, that show people are clearly not being responsible with it and folks are dying because of it, bottom line. And they'll parade around the tougher sentences and all that, nonsense. Science and human behavior wins 10/10 times. I have seen sooo many stories of hockey fans in these last few days who are still grieving from losing a loved one to this same type of accident. Whether it's people who have their own deep rooted issues and get severely addicted and just ruin their own lives and their family's lives, or despicable accidents like this where innocent lives get taken and families get destroyed..It just takes so much from us and gives us so little, yet it's so glorified and accepted, it's disgusting. But we don't even try to change that, not the liquor companies, not the car companies, not the govt. Just nobody. And if anyone decides they want to chirp me on this, then I'd advise you to ACTUALLY educate yourself on the impact their drug of choice has on our communities. I'll die on this hill if I have to so please don't try to move me off of it. Remember 25 years ago when the hockey world was also flipped upside down? 3 miles from where I'm sitting right now the wings limo driver was drunk and went straight into a tree and vladdy still can barely walk or talk. Look how much it has taken from hockey alone, and these are just the bigger stories we know about..Some might not like my comment but I couldn't care less, If I got you to think a little deeper than I did my job.
Huge RIP to those gentlemen I'm sick for their family and friends, didn't mean to make this about me in the slightest, but I'm angry, something has GOT to change, like when is enough enough? Maybe we need more than just The "please drink responsibly" in fine print.
    Fly high Johnny and Matthew💙🫡🙏

  5. Biz, get the surgery. I broke my nose twice and had a severe deviated septum, and a pretty much crushed sinus. My CT scan was comical. The surgery wasn’t pleasant, but it was totally worth it. It’s two weeks of discomfort but you can deal with it. The worst part of it is they stick two plastic things into your sinus to hold it up while it heals. They take those out after a week — they are stitched in so taking them out isn’t great, but again, worth it.

And get a CPAP if you have apnea. My sleep study was comical, but I finally took two Xanax and put myself out and they were able to tell that I had significant oxygen lossand that I didn’t get REM sleep. I now feel so much better using it and you will too. It’s like night and day.

  6. This is why I love hockey and the community.

Kobe dies and the next day they talk about who was better and comparison’s to this day.

Hockey truly has a caring bond and love for each other. To see biz get emotional truly says it all.

    Rest easy boys 🕊️

  7. I’m sorry but I got to say this people need to stop giving to cancer research organizations they’re a scam they have a cure for cancer but unless you have oodles of money

  8. RIP to the Gaudreau brothers, there are no words, the hockey community will miss them both >3, My sincere condolences to their entire family.

  9. John 13 It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

Matthew 21 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples.

  10. This POD was exactly what week all needed after last week’s news. It hit close to home since my wife and I are also expecting our 1st child in a few months like Matt’s wife and it crushed us at the thought of something like this happening to anyone. The story about golfing brought happy tears to my eyes and helped look forward to memories like that for me and my daughter hope in the future. Love you boys and hope you get to spend some time with your families this week and looking forward to another great season listening to all you guys you make our week!

  11. All that discussion about drinking with teammates after a game takes on a whole different meaning when you consider how many times you might have driven while buzzed. 😮

  12. Say what you will about these guys goof balls off color what ever right. This was one of the most touching things and just a completely unthinkable horrendous act an unspeakable tragedies and i can't believe that it has been 3 years since Jimmy Hayes has passed. Prays up NHL Prays up Chiclets hold rhe ones you love and tell them you love THEM !!!!!!!

  13. The Driver didn't wake up that morning and decide to kill two people. Alcohol and driving is who killed these two. It sucks! Don't drink and drive….a lesson I failed.
