What a race! The top athletes of the 2024 UTMB have completed the historic lap around Mont Blanc and this year’s race did not disappoint. Our team recounts the top stories, breakout performances, upsets, and more from the 2024 UTMB.
In a breakout performance, Vincent Bouillard took the men’s win in blazing fast time of 19:54:23, the third fastest time in the race’s storied history, behind Jim Walmsley and Kilian Jornet. Vincent is a HOKA employee and unsponsored racer, making this an extra special performance.
Katie Schide won the women’s race in a time of 20:09:31 course record time of, breaking Courtney Dauwalter’s record from 2022 by over 20 minutes. After her win at Western States this June, Katie has solidified herself as one of the best ultramarathon runners our sport has ever seen.
Come back Sunday for our full week recap of the race and champion interviews with the winners of CCC & UTMB.
Our 2024 UTMB coverage is brought to you by our good friends at HOKA. We’re grateful for their generous support and belief in Freetrail.
HOKA is a proud presenting partner of the UTMB series. And sponsor of this week’s Freetrail coverage.Check out the Freetrail coverage all week to learn more about their new release of the Tecton X3. AND if you are here in Chamonix, go experience the HOKA basecamp and join in all the Tecton demo opportunities across the week. Named after the earth’s tectonic plates, which inspired its parallel dual carbon fiber plate design, the Tecton X franchise has revolutionized the trail racing world – propelling athletes to new heights.
The Tecton X3 features an upgraded midsole featuring two layers of PEBA foam, with one softer layer on top for cushioning and impact, and a slightly firmer layer underneath for agility proprioception on technical terrain. The propulsive parallel carbon fiber plates have evolved – now featuring winglets, the wider plates wrap strategically up the sidewall for additional control in key zones. In the upper, a new knit collar acts as a gaiter to help mitigate trail debris from entering the shoe.
Launching just in time for the UTMB Mont Blanc World Series, The Tecton X3 will be seen on HOKA elite athletes competing at the highest level in Chamonix,
France. Inviting consumers and fans of the sport to learn about the innovation behind the brand’s most pinnacle trail release yet, HOKA will be opening their FlyLab™experience dedicated to the Tecton X 3 in celebration of UTMB, located at the HOKA Base Camp in Chamonix Village, and open from Tuesday – Friday of race week.

So glad you've got a reaction video uploaded so quickly. I really need to hear other peoples reactions to what we've witnessed over the last 24 or so hours!
So many great results. Hemming's win (and Tabor's killer start)! Hayden's win! Ludo top 5! Sabrina Stanley top's 10! Schlarb's top 10! We saw the full arrival of super shoes…as the ASU and Tecton x 3 took podiums and top 10s in all of these races. Everyone should try a super shoe. Anyway, great week and thanks DBo for all that you do.
Dude!!! What the heck took you so long!!!! ???
As a 62 year old recreational jogger, Ludo gives me life!!! Great fun following this race over the past 24 hours.
This show is so good! Ludo = the Masterclass Jedi!
The OOO email is perfect!
Just found you one week ago.. Great work keep it up!
Not sure if it’s just me but I wasn’t feeling the hype and buzz DBo and Freetrail brought the past years to UTMB and others races like this years western states?
My dude, Cody Lind!!!
didn't Jim have some sort of a knee issue?
Once they start putting DNFs into the Index calculations, we will magically see a decrease in DNFs. It is stupid that finishing 50th for someone with a top 5 index harms you more than a DNF.
HOKA’s marketing team better be picking up Vincent’s morning coffees for a while..
Great analysis of a great event
Crazy cool.
So good. Thank you Freetrail
Ludo. No words. So incredible. Such a good person and so solid. Congrats to all the finishers, and I hope everyone is doing well after the race. Thanks for this fun conversation.
The Vincent Cinderella story is insane!! HOKA’s most valuable employee by a long shot
Baptiste is a dead ringer for connan o'brian…
The attrition at UTMB correlates to a long-term observation I made while playing Fantasy: women’s performances always seem to be more reliable, it's easier to bet on them and get points. 8 out of 10 community picks on the men’s side dropped out and a first glance at the scores revealed that most players were unable to predict the men’s Top Ten where everybody got good points on the women’s side. And that is true for most races although the difference isn’t as big at every race. Maybe there is something to the statement, that women race more intelligently, take better care of themselves and occasionally deny to start with a known injury, means: they do not gamble as much as men. Here for the women’s race – because men often fall apart.
epic week! I am shook.
Insane that almost every elite runner dropped in the mens field.
Have a watch back at Ludo during Conquest of Paradise. Swigging on a bottle of water , so relaxed and comfortable
Ludo is Da Bomb! Sooooooo great!
Great recap episode! You all forgot to mention our very own American Dakota Jones being 9th in CCC!!
Thanks for filling the Livestream void with great commentary 🔥
Little fact check: Lotti Brinks broke Courtney's Javelina 100k CR, which has since been broken by Anna Louden!
Also, another American Jason Schlarb taking 9th in the grueling TDS!! Whoohoooooooo!👏
I really enjoyed the commentary and expertise. Thanks for providing a different point of view on many questions about trail running and less serious matters 🖖🏼
