A lot of people don’t really understand what happens when you talk about lag in your golf swing. I know most amateurs talk about wanting lag in their swing, but video fully describes what is lag and how you can get it. The definition of lag is something trailing behind something else. So this is the golf club trailing behind your arms and body.

The golf club is the last thing that should be moving on the downswing. Just like I demonstrate here with the head cover when I start to twirl it. This it the golf club and my hand is your body. Once you start to turn your arms off in the golf swing, you start to improve your lag angles.

Start relaxing your hands and arms in your golf swing and you will start getting better lag angles. The better this angle is the faster the golf club can start to move. Keep working on getting more relaxed with your upper body and you will get the lag angle that everybody talks about. Try this the next time you are out on the driving range.
