1989 was such a fun year for baseball cards, and while many people talk about the Upper Deck – and I admit the photography and design of those are great, they were also more expensive for us kids in the Bronx. The 1989 Donruss baseball card packs, wax packs and Rack Packs were definitely more affordable, AND they looked Great! 1989 Donruss baseball cards also had great photography for its time – and Donruss has all the best rookies as well! Ken Griffey Jr was the highlight for us then – and still now. Other great rookies – such as Curt Schilling, Randy Johnson and Gary Sheffield are in this set – and potentially in these packs, as are all the greats from the day. Some of which ended up in Cooperstown…others probably never will – looking at you Gregg Jeffries! Gregg Jeffries was one of the ones we thought would definitely someday be a Hall of Famer based on the hype when he first came up to the Major Leagues – but we also now know how that all panned out. Use caution when looking at modern Baseball rookies and young players.

I had a ton of fun ripping through these 1989 Wax packs – and I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed ripping these!
