I am not an Aimpoint instructor this is just my understanding of some principles I found online from other YouTubers and articles describing the method.

Find a clinic if you want to learn it properly because there are errors in what i explained because it comes from the rest of the internet and may not be a true representation

  1. This is the best explanation/demonstration of AimPoint I have ever seen. And all in ten minutes. Awesome content

  2. I've practiced Aim Point for a decade and the only other thing I'd add is you need to concentrate on a speed that gets the ball about a foot past the hole

  3. Many others tried to explain Aimpoint but they have no technical/computer skills so very difficult to understand. So, this is tge best illustration.
However, if you are not playing golf for a living, or competing at least college level – stop it. You will slow down everyone else because there are so many factors and your percentage won't increase. Just practice how to lag putt outside of 18 feet for a tap in and move on. Otherwise, you'll get the middle finger from the other players around you. 🤪

  4. Can you imagine no matter how quickly you have adapted to this technique, the additional time this adds to your golf game. Remember, 45 seconds is a a maximum. This straddling of the line is unreal. Sick and tired pros taking minutes to make a putt. Snore!

  5. I skimmed through the comments and didn't find the following: Matty reads a 2,5 and a 2,8. How does that become a 3. What is the rule for coming g to final number? Also for puttsabove 20 feet. How do you mingle the two measurements? Thanks….and finally a video explaining aimpoint. Love it ❤

  6. Great video! What are you supposed to do on a longer putt if it’s say 3% near the start but 1% near the end? Would you call that 3%, 4% or which?

  7. If this was of much value most professionals would use this. They don’t, For less than pros, it might work if you were able to do this properly, looking at 6 hour rounds. You would have to make a correct reading every couple of feet back to the ball. Sorry, useless.

  8. I took an imprint lesson about 6 months ago and it’s almost completely removed 3 putts from my game, even from long range.
I made a series of boards in the garage at home to match up to the 1,2 and 3% slopes so I can practice there.

  9. Wow, I must be abaus………….. I just read the green with my eye and putt, as Rocky once said “ Ain’t so bad “…….. thank me after your round 😎

  10. Just feel the slopes (up,down, left right) in your feet, don’t mess about with all of that finger, thumb, little pinky nonsense. Assess the speed of the greens on the practice green before you go out and away you go.

  11. So you've obviously lost a bet or something…. I mean why else would you be dressed like this??? 🤔

Seriously who goes to a golf course dressed like you've just been to a rave in Byron??? It's a disgrace honestly 🤦

  12. Don't we stand both feet on the direction where ball start and end to give how much pace as well? such as slope 3% downhill equal like the pace 90% of normal pace, etc

  13. If you want to save a few bucks you can download apps that read in %. It may not be as accurate given the length of the phone but I feel less douchey than using a leveler. There's also an app called puttvision. It uses the camera to read the putt/break. works surprisingly well. So there's another 2 options to help validate your reads.

Its been years since I had a lesson so I'm sure it's been finessed since then but if someone who's done it and can comment about how they adjust for speed, be it different stimps or uphill/down hill I'd love to know!

  14. How do you determine how much you bend your arm depending on the green speed? I feel like that’s the most guessing you do with aimpoint

  15. Really interesting and something I’m going to give a good go after my last big game this season. I’d say apex putting is misunderstood as well. As a visual putter I move to the apex to see the drop off but analyse it as I move back to the ball and you are right. Typically, depending on the pace of the green, you need to move your line around the apex to take into account the pace of the ball and the break it will take.

What you have shown is something that is no slower than going to the other side of the flag and I think I can efficiently use that as a starting point in my process. Thanks for the video!

  16. I took an aimpoint class years ago. One other thing the instructor said was that the pace for the ball should be about what you think will just die it into the hole, rather than the technique of "hit it so it would roll past 17 inches" (Dave Pelz putting bible recommendation). Another tip I realized from that class – this now makes every putt seem like a straight putt. Find the aimpoint line and putt as if it was straight. Gravity and the slope will steer the ball. For me this had the effect of preventing me from trying to "steer" my putts.

  17. Yeah I think that first 30 minutes just feeling numbers and measuring what you feel is absolute gold …I wouldn't try and hit putts too soon 🙂

  18. I don't know about pressure point %, what if your back is out of alignment, at some point 1 leg is shorter than the other, until we get our backs and hips realigned🤔

  19. Thank you. Been watching other videos and didnt grasp it until now. You are also the first one that said line your fingers up with the INSIDE OPPOSITE EDGE OF THE CUP.

  20. I used to use I can’t read greens as an excuse for poor putting. Since watching this video and Matt’s mental game video’s I’ve decided to nor use my poor depth perception as an excuse. I’ve fully embraced AimPoint and am rapidly improving my green reading. I still have a way to go, but I’m showing great progress. No more excuses!

  21. If you don’t have or want to buy digital leveler you can use apps on your phone that work just fine. On iPhone the measure app has a leveler.
