30 years ago this very month Scots-Canadian businessman Fergus McCann swept into Celtic Park and secured the clubs very existence with an eleventh hour investment that would alter the course of Celtic’s history for ever.
A move such as that however can’t be engineered by just one man and many figures played a key role in what eventually took place on that day back on the 4th of March 1994.
In this special new series by The Celtic Exchange we speak to some of those individuals as we bring you the inside stories of what unfolded during that incredible time in Celtic history.
We’re looking at the story from all angles and in Part 2 we speak with David Low, who was widely regarded as Fergus McCann’s right hand man during the takeover.
David tells us just what was going on with the old Celtic Board at that time and the strategy that, eventually, saw them ousted from the corridors of Celtic Park.

Remember Fergus’s words Celtic are not surrounded by Friends
Another brilliant inter view t ino ask that young man beside you to join the board ::: if only hh. Joe Coatbridge. Little. Ireland 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮😎
Great watch Tino. David Low great insight and his views on the current board.
I love the Stadium that Celtic have there’s nothing like it certainly in this Country.
Magnificent stuff
Thank you for all you did David
Excellent interview. Brings back those days. If only Fergus and David were a bit younger to sort this present mob out.
The best modern day Celtic based interview I've watched in the last 10 years well done Tino 👏
correct david, board r milking the fans, and also correc,t team going back the way instead of going forward
What a fantastic interview I’ve watched it 3 times . Well done 👏🏻👏🏻
brilliant interview of a highly intelligent man, thank you for helping save our club.Well done Tino.
Interesting the hear the criticism of current board, appears shared by Fergus. Would have been good to allow that discussion to develop further.
Excellent interview, interesting to hear about behind the scenes at the time
HH THANKS DAVID LOW A HELL OF A LOT BEHIND THE SCENES U PUT UP WITH BUT Stood ur ground to get us where we are what u said about the shares is shocking, I Thought their would be some LAW SO ALL SHARES ARE HANDLED IN THE Right way. letting working Celtic fans who have these shares to be kept informed. of the right thing to do: CELTIC SHOULD BE A WAY BEYOND Scottish League instead of waiting to keep sevco close also Parkhead should have a much bigger CAPACITY SO FANS FROM ALL HOVER THE WORLD & LOCALS CAN GET INTO THE GAME ON THR DAY ALSO NO CELTIC SHOP IN DUBLIN ASIS SHOULD BE HAVE A HOLE MALL WITH CELTIC SHOPS I SPOKE ABOUT THIS 40YRS AGO AT WORK PLACE AS OTHER CLUBS DOING THIS JUST LOOK AT SPURS HH KTF
HH THANKD BRILL AS THE FIRST WAS 2 HH KTF
Celtic Is A Great Football Club With A Lot Of History And Supporters . We Should Aim Higher In Our Ambitions As We Are A Great Club And Try And Get Into The Knockout Stages Of The Champions League On A Regular Basis . So Please Back The Manager This Summer With A Decent Amount Of Money .
Brilliant again
Fantastic insight into the takeover, could have listened to David all day, you really can tell he has the best interests of Celtic Football Club at heart.
Brilliant interview. David Low has a forensic memory. 👍
David Lowe , now that’s a Tim 🍀
Thank you for this excellent presentation top drawer
Brilliant interview, I think we would all like to hear more of his views on the current board and how the club is being run now
Why is no one talking about the £40m Fergus and his Investors walked with after 5 years?
Yes he saved the Club and yes he should be rightly remembered for it but he done quite nicely out of it thanks.
Did you know he put that money in an Offshore Trust in Jersey?
Bring back the bunnet!
Brilliant
I remember the photocopiers situation he is talking about. Was it not a sponsorship deal with Canon (or similar?), who in return for advertising etc supplied Celtic with an insane amount of office equipment? 😆
There's plenty of leagues around the world if it's not two teams who dominant it's one look at Bayern Munich 12 years in a row or PSG or Ajax or Fenyoord the teams they play against are no match to them in that league yet all do well in Europe look at Brighton in Europe thats a joke west ham as well its the money that make them to process in Europe so if we dominant our league we should still compete in Europe we have the money mibbi not as much as them but PSG and Bayern spent millions and in the billions for wages to win in there term are inferior we need to stop saying or bring down or own league they might be inferior to us but Bayern is winners 12 years in a row so it's football its a 11 men
Phew…now that was a sobering interview…but very good!
Fantastic insight Into what happened , thoroughly enjoyed the podcast
Fabulous interview David Low.
Have to say the podcasts about save the Celts have been outstanding, education and entertaining, this is becoming my go to podcasts for Cetlic.
Loving this.
Wit ah team
Tremendous stuff. Really enjoying this series so far.
Another excellent interview with David Low Tino, On the Save Our Celts podcasts I couldn’t take myself away from it until the end of the pod, when David let us all know how Celtic let themselves down in Europe and if Rangers win the league they get themselves Closer to us financially, This should never have have been allowed to happen, we should have been Miles and Miles ahead of them, great show Tino👍🍀☘️ Hail Hail
These guys are brilliant speakers and a real pleasure to listen to. I watched part 1 last night and I'm loving listening to this one too. Their powers of recollection are impressive and I'm glad their stories have been obtained while they've still got their mental faculties and sharpness of mind. Fascinating listening and admirable determination and workrate on their part.
Wow. I just started listening to these. Brilliant. An oral history of a critical period in Celtic history. Thanks for listening, asking pertinent questions and letting the different voices give us their point of view.
Absolutely superb series of podcasts mate! 🇮🇪🍀
Brilliant podcast series, seriously fantastic. i was in my late 20s so remember this well but this s an education for younger Celts, HH KTF
Superb series this Tino thank for men like David☘️HH
David seems a smart cookie. Good on him for the part he played in ‘94.
£1 a share 😂
Great insightful interview with a very important man in the wrestling of control from the old incompetent board. Thank you very much David for all you did It'll always be appreciated. God bless wee Fergus. I wish we had a Fergus now..omni present..fighting our corner.. and we could restructure the current running of our beloved club. A fan advisory board is being pushed for by the Celtic trust and that would be a step in the right direction. We as fans are the lifeblood of the club and always have been. We deserve a greater say and not be treated as customers and only contacted to sell us merchandise and tickets. Hail Hail
What about the middle east peace envoy Tory Blair, how many died on his watch ?
The prick
Fck me…. where would we be without David ❤️🍀👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👋👋👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🍀🍀❤️
Great contribution by David Low. Combining his deep feelings for Celtic with experience in company finance and best practice governance is excellent. Would a seat in the boardroom be justified?
