Freo's 1st and 3rd first round picks should be enough to get it done witih some late pick swaps depending on how much of Bolton's contract Richmond offer to pay

Crazy to think, by the end of the year, there could be a huge possibly that Freo could get some damn good players coming in. Bolton, Warner and a possibly Baker could come in if West Coast are unwilling to part with valuable rebuilding picks. 2025 could be looking dangerous with Fremantle with a super list.

Freo should be prepared to walk away from this trade if the Tigers are expecting what their fans and the media seem to think Bolton is worth. The guy is a downhill skier who is a slightly above average forward/mid 90% of the season. Yes, he has freak moments and can absolutely tear a game apart, but that probably only happens a couple of weeks per year. The way people are talking him up you'd think he's the second coming of Gary Ablett. RIoli isn't even a top 10 player in his own position (the easiest position to play in the league) and hes worth two firsts? And Baker wouldn't even be in the top 10 players at most clubs and hes worth a first? If my club used a first round pick and the player turned out to be Liam Baker I wouldn't be too happy.

Very curious that Hawthorn got pilloried by all and sundry for cutting too deep too quick, with the groupthink view whistling like a 100 Kettles at the boil just round 6 this year, and by the end of the SAME season the same crowd of experts apparently see it as orthodoxy/a given that Richmond cut deep and cut quick, without a pause to admit they got it horribly wrong. The clubs should not get any compensation if an out of contract player leaves at end of the season. The clubs also need to have the ability to trade a player to any team with the best offer for that player. It holds the clubs accountable but also the player. North struggle to get big signings because the player refuses to go. If Bolton wants to go home then eagles and free know this and can use this as leverage and not give up as much for him to leave.
Bolton pick 9 and a second rounder and Baker a second round pick at best ! Baker is no spring chicken by AFL standards and recently has been prone to injury and Bolton back home is risky once he is around his mates and family which can be a distraction !

Bolton can be a bit of an up and down player but everytime he comes to Optus he rips it up. So he might do alright if he comes back to Perth.

Clubs should all be backending contracts. If players want great money they will be forced to see out their contracts to get the big money in the final years of their contract.
Typical bias Melb media coverage. Tom Barrass is only worth a first round but Shai Bolton is worth 2 first round picks. How many good full back are they in the league compared to mid/forwards. It’s a joke how the media is pumping Melb sides for draft capital.
Freo should trade 3 first rounders and maybe a 2nd or 3rd for bolton and richmonds future first, this deal would get done from freo perspective as gets bolton and capital for the chance at chad next year whilst richmond gets big boost and run into a deep draft. Win win

Liam Baker is no way known a 1st Round pick. Freo will offer Pick 9 and Port's 1st Round pick and that's it – otherwise will be happy to pick more kids. Freo are in the win-win – not other way round.
