Man these pundits are so lazy sometimes drives me crazy, they all repeat the same stupid narratives without real analysis. They watch Jota a couple times when he is scoring and all of a sudden he is an absolute goal machine and his passing is immaculate. Jota is a very good player but he misses a lot of passes and in some games he ghosts; he has only scored more goals than Nunez in 1 season and never had as many assists. Nunez they say cannot link play and combine with the other players, but somehow had 13 assists last season?! just go look the goals and assists youtube videos from last season and you will see some very nice and precise assists from him and could have been even more but the other forwards missed the chances…. these pundits should actually do some research before regurgitating stupid narratives from the internet.

The most promising part of the first few performances for me is that we don't look susceptible to capitulating.
Even when we aren't in control of the ball, there's still much bigger degree of control.
It's all down to that risk to reward choice that Slot spoke about. So often last season, taking the riskier pass while out of position caused us to lose 2 or 3 goals in a lot of games. Everything just seems safer, more controlled, and I'm happy with that!
Klopp's football was exciting. It was enthralling. It was amazing to watch for the neutral.
Now, it's looking more like a sustainable style imo! Last season, the amount of stupid passes from forwards that caused us to be countered on was so obvious and it was never fixed. That type of football is fine in bursts when it's fueled by emotion of the crowd, but when it goes flat, the energy drains and it isn't sustainable. That was shown multiple times in the Klopp era.
Man talking about Mac Allister being wasted in the deeper midfield role and he should be swapped with Szobo is so misinformed and uneducated on football tactics. Pretty sure he's a former player too??
The whole reason Liverpool have exhausted teams eventually in the 2nd half, is that Macca controls the middle with Grav, then Szoboszlai pulls the opposition midfield/defence all over the pitch with his crazy engine and athleticism.
Swap those around and tie Szobo down that macca role, and you don't have anywhere near the amount of stretching of the pitch. Mac Allister is phenomenal at keeping the ball in tight spaces, turning, beating the press and one of the best in the world at it, Szobo isn't. He's completely different.
Mac Allister is MUCH better at beating a strong press, and that's exactly why Slot uses him there. The bait pressing that slot talks about works so well because when the opposition press Grav and Mac, they swivel out of the press and release Szoboszlai to run and stretch teams.
It simply doesn't work the other way round. Szobo doesn't beat the press as well and Macca certainly doesn't run and stretch defences like Szobo does.
Whoever this guy is, I'd have thought he would know a bit more about the tactical reasons for the positioning before coming on a show with such a big audience.
Also, because of these intelligent, ball holding midfielders like Macca and Grav, Liverpool have WAY more control of the ball, which therefore means Macca actually ends up closer to the box anyway, exactly where this guy says he'd be better.
He isn't being wasted at all. Crazy.
It's also the reason Slot doesn't want a destroyer number 6. He wants players who control. Players who are great in the tightest spaces in the middle of the park, who are able to hold the ball and turn, opening up gaps behind the opposing players who are pressing.
Another thing this Janesh or whatever his name is said.. a quality CB and not a young CB to come in. Who does this guy replace?? There's nobody in the world who comes in and is a starting CB for us right now. Any CB who comes in will be 4th choice. A good 4th choice is enough.

Can't believe our fans getting carried away after we beat 2 teams who will probably be fighting relegation! I was at the game and Brentford should have scored twice, we look suspect on transition. Once teams figure Slot out a bit more it won't be as easy. We have an easy looking run of fixtures until we then face Arsenal, Villa, Brighton and Chelsea. If we beat them then we can talk. The crowd was flat though, not sure this style of football will be accepted, but if we win fair enough.
People really though this same group of players who competed for the title for most of last season, would fall off a cliff just because the manager changed lol. The stat of Slot being the first Liverpool manager to win their first 2 games is not a surprise. Souness was the last manager to inherit a good side that had been consistently successful under Kenny (he took over last few games of 1991 season before loosing the title to Arsenal then dismantaling that team and causing Liverpools ultimate downfall until Klopps era) . Every manager since has pretty much always inherited a pile of rubbish from the out-going manager. So is a tribute to how good a state Klopps has left the squad in for Slot.
