Im sure like all golfers you would love to consistently hit solid iron shots, that was exactly what Jack wanted when he came to see me recently.

Jack was struggling with strike which in turn made it very difficult for him to achieve any height or distance. Jack had a few movements in his swing that meant that he was never going to hit solid iron shots unless we changed it.

In this lesson you will see how the shape of your swing hugely influences you strike, plus you will learn my Floating Takeaway move which activates the wrists and helps you hit solid shots with more distance

Without this key wrist movement in your swing you will always be falling short of your potential, just like Jack, but the drills are simple, easy to follow and will give you the results you desire.

  1. Great vid Chris, thanks for sharing.
Where should you eyes focus on impact, the ball, or a point after the ball? ie the bottom of the swing apex

  2. Fantastic lesson. Your easy to understand explanation has stopped me hitting the ground before the ball. Cheers Chris ⛳👏

  3. Perfect timing. Not sure why but in the last month, I went from 2.9 degrees from the inside to 7-8 degrees, missing fairways and greens. This compounds my issue of grounding behind the ball. thank you for this

  4. He's clearly early extending….and then chicken winging on the follow-through….to get the club back in line. He doesn't set up his arc on the backswing…and so he is compensating at every point after that..

  5. I’ve been doing the head cover drill recently, but on the far side of the ball to try and help correct my out to in swing path.

  6. Love this coaching style. Adapting a decent golf swing with feel rather than a list of 100 things you need to do to have the "perfect swing".

  7. I have a problem with my face opening up a slight bit upon contact and it goes trickling off to the right, how should i address this?

  8. @ChrisRyanGolf is, imho, one of today's best instructors. His delivery style, using a phased approach, (no matter the skill level) teaches golfers not only proper mechanics, but the discipline and usefulness of patience and practice. He also delivers his instruction using the k-i-s-s principle which is by far one of his more valuable skills.

  9. His right knee is locked out at the top of the backswing. That's going to make the rest of the swing all the more difficult.

  10. im going to have to use that headcover drill and the wrist drill as well. after watching this, I feel that I tend to have my wrists pretty locked and then forcing it back through. i love how you dont try to completely change somebody's swing, but take what they have and make it more efficient

  11. I usually hit my pitch 100ft high and 135 yards down range. It looks good, but I’m not certain what it’s supposed to do.

I can also say that hitting off turf is not helpful on the course. Go somewhere that lets you hit off grass.

  12. Dude that's simply not true.
It's like you don't realize that attack angle and swing path are two different things.
Not to mention face to path and dynamic loft.

  13. Bryce Dechambeau was giving a lesson to a famous British golf Youtuber, Rick Shields and had him draw a line in a sand trap and practice taking a divot after contact with the line. It was great at teaching the proper downswing.

  14. One issue he has is seen at the very top/ stop of the back swing…he stops it very abruptly using his wrists to brake the momentum in preventing more carry behind him…because of that brake effect( abrupt stop) he feels the need to get the club going in the opposite direction using wrist muscles for the opposite direction…thus the cast seen…he needs to learn to let the club come around backside more freely at the top( relax more and have a bigger back swing)…i e. Daly…( Of course not that far)..but the same principle… That way the wrist won't start the downward action… Thus avoiding the dreaded cast

  15. Fix his left hand grip. You know they always say “A man’s grip on his club, is just like a man’s grip on his world.” – Baggar Vance.

  16. When I find time, I will give these a go. I feel like I'm the only person that can dart a pitching wedge 😅. Always had the issue of really low ball flights. Thank you for the tips.
