  1. Every time I do a weight forward swing the old timers say I have a arms only swing even though I hit a 7 iron 175 and driver 270

  2. Tom- one thing you didn't mention is that this way of swinging gives the average golfer a much better chance at a solid sweetspot strike- which really maximizes distance and acuracy.

  4. I haven’t watched the vids in a while… shame on me… but while at the range the other day I had a ton of swing thoughts, and I remembered Sagutos clips, and “weight forward” came to me, so I solely focused on that. Let’s just say I littered the range with crispy nuggets.

  5. I can see the logic and I really want this to work for me but when I set the weight forward and then move further forward in the downswing I shank it. Last night I shanked at least 10 balls which I never normally do. Help!

  6. I was suffering with massive inconsistency so decided to give Tom a go as he makes it sound so easy. Took me longer than i thought from just watching his videos but i 100% recommend giving him a try. Low 80s is now an average day with more than a few in the 70s.

  8. believe it or not, weight is still being shifted. you can still feel your center of gravity moving throughout your body, it's just not shifting from 100% trail to 118% lead
    he kind of talks about it; your body weight is still moving towards the target
    grrrr he's not shifting weight, grrr…

  9. I use weight shift because it makes the swing feel more dynamic in terms of using ground forces. Stack and tilt can be a great solution for someone who needs a simple swing with fewer moving parts to go wrong, among others.

    Do you still setup the ball position the same, like your other demonstrations and move the right foot back accordingly, then bump the hips forward. I’m right handed as you and 70 years old trying your swing and it feels good thanks for explaining.

  12. I'm gonna give this a try after work. I've seen so many videos about tilting back to see the back of the ball which makes my weight like 60/50 on the back foot and I fall backwards all the time on my drives.

  13. Comments about how far someone hits their driver. II think a better gauge of distance is 7 or some other iron club. I live in Texas, 7 handicap and 79 yo. I find driver distance to be an imprecise stat because there are many factors. My group always has the 1st or 2nd tee time. In the summer (May-Oct here), I lose 20-30 yards because the fairways still being watered when we tee off. Therefore, my drives may average 215 in Summer, 275 when there's a water shortage and fairways can't be watered because of restrictions, and 240 from Nov-April when the fairways aren't watered as much. We also get almost constant wind so it's really hard to have an accurate driver distance number. Just my opinion.

  14. You will get there,my goal is 140 swing this year,im at 130 so far,with that drill it may well get me there and im 66 years old,keep trying,120 club speed is brilliant.If i had had this 40 years ago,when i was a fit roofer,im sure we would have all got there,keep up the good work.

The. the swing. is a circle and the balls flies in the direction of a tangent located at the point of impact with the ball as it touches the circle ..Also the follow through. is facilitated by letting y our arms be pulled by the club head past impact along the line of the circle

  16. I applied this to my irons and I was smoking the ball. More accurate and hit more GIRs. I have tried this with my driver but I tend so miss hit the driver or sky it. I’m not going to give up on this method with my driver. All new thinks take practice

  17. Hey Tom, I have recently been watching your videos to make my swing more effortless, and so far I am very pleased. Thank you so much!

    A quick question I had was regarding the downswing. For some reason I seem to get better consistent hits when I rotate my hinged right wrist clockwise during downswing. I assume this creates an “un-corking” effect during my swing and to impact.. but I can’t get rid of the fact how much you have mentioned “leaving your hands alone” during the swing.

    What could I be doing wrong here?? 😅

  18. This is a falsehood. In a rotational swing there is tremendous weight shift. The arms, shoulders and the club represent a lot of weight and when you rotate, weight shifts. Lateral Shifting is totally different and hardly any teaching advises lateral shifting off the ball unless it’s only slight. Pressure shift is what is generally taught and it does not involve linear motion or lateral shift.

  19. Eliminates the golf term “pulling you off the ball”. Just sets you up for maximum compression!!!

  20. Now, weight and weight pressure is 2 different things. Your weighr is pretty center but your Pressure is forward. Exactly correct technique😁

  21. I watched this video yesterday I went to the club and played today did what Tom showed us and I was piping them down the fairway did not lose a ball and gained 40 sometimes 60 yards on my drive and the irons were pure. Thank you SagutoGolf!!!!!!

  23. Tom thank you for the great videos. One thing that I struggle with is when you say to begin the down swing by “ripping” the shoulders. I remember reading when Hogan said starting the downswing with the shoulders is a swing killer. I know you are a “student” of Hogan so what do you say about this?   24. Speed created not by weight shift or sway, but with pressure going to the left leg, you still creating a lot of pressure not moving weight sideways. So don't mask obvious by saying, that weight shift dead. Pressure shift to the left leg never go away from your swing.

  25. All the “weight shift, use the ground for speed, etc etc”; but when I simply put my weight where I want it at impact and keep my head still all of the sudden I’m a better golfer.
