It's a little ironic that the logic behind retaining Aiyuk by Kreug earlier was more or less about how Lynch and Co. would have to explain to Trent (and other veterans) that they traded Aiyuk away for draft picks, etc. when they're in a contending year and the older vets don't have the luxury of punting a season. While the 9ers brass were probably already leaning heavily towards trading AIyuk, Trent's hold out essentially may all but push BA out the door for good. It's still just rumors, but they can't pay everybody max contracts. I'd be surprised if they retain BA. They drafted a couple of promising WRs and maybe they have the option to add one at the trade deadline like they did Sanders in 2019 if the team is healthy and competing. Trade BA for max return they can get and see if the season dictates they make another move or two.
They can always make him play the 5th year, but that scenario seems less likely now.

Trade him for something substantial to continued growth, wrs are a dime of dozen, the seahawks got a ring with meh talent at WR. Tom Brady won with Meh talent.

I think this is contingent on BA having an already agreement with the franchise and detailing/price competing the "best" offer from each team. Im not sure if BA is doing much signing off on the team or if the 49ers care. I think all they are telling him is, "have your agent work out with both or all teams your hypothetical contract and we are talking with them about what they are sending us". Browns and Patriots are out of conference so its coming down to draft compensation and if any players are coming back. If a player is coming back it would be someone on a rookie deal and they swing the salary they have left to T Williams. Sucks either way, I wanted to keep BA but with Purdy's contract and how much Deebo, Kittle and CMC are making somethings got to give. Not happy about it, id rather take Davante but this is a salary cap and draft capital move. So we better be getting a 1st and/or multiple 2nds. Teams have hit on WRs the last few years but its not a gimme and there are plenty of WRs who don't live up to draft position.
