Chase Robinson and Chris Lee preview Tennessee’s football roster for the 2024 season and share their predictions for the Volunteers. Topics include:

– The Vols’ Nico Iamaleava seems to be a great leader, and a superstar in waiting. But what happens if he gets hurt? Tennessee’s backup is walk-on Gaston Moore and behind him is Jake Merklinger.

– Running back Dylan Sampson has been incredibly productive and could be headed towards one of the most productive running-back seasons in the Southeastern Conference.

– Tennessee has a deep, athletic receiving corps led by Squirrel White, Bru McCoy and Donte Thornton, plus newcomers Chris Brazzell II (Tulane) and five-star recruit Mike Matthews, plus, highly-regarded tight end transfer Holden Staes (Notre Dame).

– Tennessee has tons of experience on the offensive line with Cooper Mays, Javontez Spraggins, Andre Karic and John Campbell, and added former five-star recruit Lance Heard (LSU transfer).

– Defensive end James Pearce Jr. leads the defense; he’s a preseason first-team All-American and a potential 1/1 in the 2025 NFL Draft.

– The Vols have tons of returning experience on the line with Tyre West and returning starters Omari Thomas and Bryson Eason.

– The Vols get back middle linebacker Keenan Pili, who transferred last year from BYU and was hurt in the opener.

– Tennessee turned over much of its secondary and added three starters from other places in Jermod McCoy (Oregon State), Jalen McMurray (Temple) and Jacob Thomas (MTSU).

– Punter Jackson Ross returns but the Vols have a new face at kicker in Josh Turbyville.

  1. Note back up QB has been in system 5 years and knows it front and backwards. A lot of people say oh lord walk on QB but is a system QB. Does enough not to make you loose but does enough to squeak out wins. Merk will be back up I would say mid-season since he has early enrollee.

  2. Actually, TN has upgraded athletically in the secondary and linebackers are really talented. They will probably have one of the best front seven’s in the country.

  3. I would like to formally request that you search Youtube for the short where Nico says how to say his last name, because that level of butchering is hard to listen to. I know it isn't that common of a name, but it isn't THAT hard to say.

  4. I think Tennessee has 3 or 4 receiver's that could breakout and be a superstar but I see Nico spreading the ball around everywhere and us having just a roomful of production!! GBO
