Looking at Cherington's history in Boston, it's highly unlikely he'll do anything; remember, 3 out of the four seasons he spent there were losing seasons, and the core was already in place when they won it all.
Cherry made a pie the only problem is its a cowpie.
Does he even like baseball.
While we fans continue to suffer, at least release Taylor and play bae every day. What is there to lose??? Ditch triolo for Peguero as well.
Imagine still believing this guy has any credibility after that arozarena return his imaginary “source” said would be “massive” 😂😂😂 I wonder if he blocks any and all criticism on YouTube too 🤔🤡
Cherrington is MIA.
Holderman for Vogelbach was a good trade…
I’m going to burp with helium. It’s a better use of my time chaim
You can get balin from the Illinois pharmacy school. At least he has baked pirates
The Stallings trade really rankles given the disaster at the catching position since.
Cherington should be taken to court for robbing the fans for the last five years. If any of us were as awful at our jobs as he is, we’d have been fired years ago.
Could it be that the players for one reason or another blows which is why Cherington has not made a move?
Morning DK! I see Cherrington doing nothing, which he is best at doing.
Disappointing. Hopefully he will surprise us all but I doubt it.
Let's also not forget Cherington's decision to get Pablo Sandavol when as GM of the RedSox which helped caused him to get fired soon after.
..when you look at the roster yesterday and realize there are at least 4 AAA players on it, 2-3 DFA and/or trade worthy players on it if anyone wants them. Make no mistake, without adding outside offensive help and/or a lottery type odds miracle, this team is in big trouble. Peguero is ok, he tries hard, the difficulty is he is just another of the many "just ok" callup types who will not pan out as a day to day major league player. They need a few legit everyday bats, everyone knows it at this point except the GM. He's too busy talking on his show and making it about him instead of about winning. That lineup yesterday is equal to a fireable offense. Insanely bad.
We need some "Fi-re Char-ing-ton" chants.
Nice thumbnail.
The Pirate's are a centerfeilder and another bat away from real playoff potential and maybe another arm for the bullpen
"The Process" has given us a bottom of the league offense. While I'm angry that he hasn't made any moves, it's even worse that he continues on with what has to be the worst hitting coach in the history of the league. The only thing that keeps me from losing my mind at passing on players like Arozarena and Chisholm is knowing that Andy Haines would have ruined them anyway.
Being "in on" a player means you made a courtesy offer for a player. Look at the prospects these guys are going for. How bad were Cherringtons offers that the Pirates were beat out?
If I hear Cherrington reference "the math" or "the numbers" one more time I'll scream. The man is an accountant, not a baseball GM.
Pittsburgh…..where hitting comes to die! Replace Andy Paines …replace Da'wreck Shelton….
The trouble DK is that Cherington has nothing anybody would want at Indianapolis or Altoona. Just look at their numbers. The lie about a loaded farm system has now been exposed.
I mean picking up Bells contract after getting cut from the marlins would be a nice move
Great picture of Keller, DK haha. I fully agree that has-Ben Cherington has made some awful trades and for that alone, he should be fired. But I actually disagree with giving up prospects for a trade this year. I want to see them build something sustainable, something similar to what the Cleveland’s of the world have done. I’d rather take a gamble, like they did with Rowdy, and bet on some other guys coming through and getting this team into the post season. I think it’s a bigger risk giving up good prospects and chasing after somebody and still not even making the playoffs.
How is this man still employed? Shameful.
The only thing Cherington is trading is his doughnut for a muffin worse GM in the mlb
DK, There are rumors the Rangers may be dangling 1B Nathaniel Lowe. This would be a good pickup, as he is only making $1.25 mil. He would be a rental, and eligible for arbitration in 2025, but the pop in his bat and r.b.i. production would be an upgrade over Tellez, in addition to being a plus defender. He wouldn't cost alot control wise next season.
No one wants to hear this, but the Pirates need to be sellers. Even Rooker is not going to substantially improve this abysmal offense. They are bad offensively organization wide. They need to bring in multiple good young hitters. How do you do that? Trade Keller and Bednar. That is the only way forward.
Can't believe anyone is lamenting the failure to acquire Chisholm. He's a .250 hitting showboat who plays middling defense in CF. Terrible fit for this team.
Happy Paul Skenes day, DK.
Nutting made his "let's act early" comments weeks ago and here we are 36 hours away from the deadline and they've still done nothing. Was that just a smokescreen? Is Nutting that devious? Does he even care?
Never understood why Diego Castillo never got another look in Pittsburgh. He didn't hit for average but showed good power for a MINF and he didn't seem to be intimidated by the big leagues.
Well DK ! That was a sad weekend . Wasting talent . Waiting months for them to come to AZ . Man marco pissed me off
Nutting will trade Chapman for a bat and the payroll will go down..
Cherington's hiding under his desk… I love it it, DK!
Maybe that's it DK, maybe he's scared to make a deal due to his track record, man i hate to say this but it is what it is, a bat really would've been nice since we obviously have the pitching…SO FRUSTRATING
He’s showing and has been showing us he doesn’t care about this year. We just don’t want to believe him.
Get The Three Stooges out of here. Cherington, Shelton, Haines—they all need to be gone.
He’s afraid he’ll have glasnow/Austin meadows trade to get him fired.
Speaking nothing but facts today.
The All Star break was 2 weeks ago and the front office has once again shown it's true colors by waiting and doing nothing to improve the team for the stretch run. It is up to the team and the manager to see this to the end. Of course I have little faith in Shelton just look at the lineups he put on the field against the D-Backs
I have zero faith in Cherrington. Regarding the "process", he talks to looking beyond this year, which we could possibly accept if not for just two playoff wins (Cardinals, 2013) in the past 31 years. When you have a long suffering fan base, the time is now especially with two top tier starters that could get the Pirates through a playoff series. But hey, it's all ok as long as Nutting can keep up his operating income…..
