Spain’s Jon Rahm has been soaking up the praise from golf fans in Scotland after his country’s victory over England at Euro 2024.

The two-time major winner admits he has never received so many compliments for something he had so little to do with.

But while he has declined the opportunity to laud it over his English rivals ahead of the Open at Royal Troon this week, that may not have been the case on Sunday watching the final with English Ryder Cup partner Tyrrell Hatton after their LIV Golf event at Valderrama.

“I played 18 holes yesterday and I think I got more congratulations for something that I didn’t do than I ever have in my life,” said Rahm.

“I don’t know what they’ve done, but anytime anybody plays against the English national team, every other country in Europe just unifies against them.
