  1. Maya Moore decided in 10th grade that she was going to UCONN! And, the number of points she scored at the end of her college career was the highest of all female players UNTIL Caitlin Clark graduated and topped Maya's number. One snowy day, my husband and I drove to Providence (not too far from CT) because UCONN was playing in a small facility so we could be up close to watch. Well, we sat in the first row on wooden gymnasium seats! We were right up close watching Maya and the rest of the team warm up and eventually play and win the game. It was slipping and sliding in the snow back to the hotel, but what a night.

There is no one like Maya Moore OR Diana or Sue Bird! I know. There are just too many "GREATS" that have played at UCONN and that tradition continues to this day including Paige Bueckers and Sarah Strong. Life is good in Connecticut!

  2. This is huge. Congrats to Maya Moore. She deserves this not only from her on the court accomplishments, but also for being the superb human being she is. The world needs more Maya Moore's.

  3. Thanks Phil & Ry, for presenting the "Listen Up" channel. I have followed UCONN women's basketball beginning with coach Geno's & coach Chris Dailey's first year. I remember all 4 years Maya Moore played at UCONN.

  4. She certainly belongs on the list. I think Stewy is a better basketball player. I bet they ignored Portia Woodman, who dominated women's Rugby for decades.

  5. Got a question for Phil and Rye and Kk Arnold .This question is about Paige If flag football was an Olympic sport and she played on the Olympic basketball team also will she play both if eligible?

  6. Gentlemen. To begin, you two are awesome! I am a 67 year old UCONN Women’s baseball fanatic beginning with me attending a women’s game in the old field house.

What seriously excites me for the 2024-2025 is what Geno will employ with their full court press defense. It’s been so long since they’ve been able to employ this because of their lack of depth. For many years it was their signature defense that crushed opponents. It’s not a defense that is unfair to use against inferior opponents but using it all-year round will prepare them for the Notre Dames, the USCs and even the South Carolina Women.
How will Geno give minutes to 12 healthy players? The suffocating full court defense will help Geno alleviate the minutes “problem” because of the need to give players rest. Paige can get her 27 minutes, the other 4 starters can get 22 minutes, the first five off the bench can get 15 minutes and the 10th and 11th women can get 5 minutes (for a total of 200 minutes).
The best part for us fans will be to witness the physicality of these amazing women and to enjoy more fast breaking offense.

    I can’t wait!
