from Arkansas yeah yeah y yeah give us a little history um um how you uh came to love this game and and and what you’re doing with the end uh national basketball retired Players Association well I’m on this board I’ve been on this board now for like six or seven years um Hooper love of hoop no doubt um been blessed with great Janette great jeans T 61 um played basketball in Arkansas and then went on to play I know went on to play um good professional career eight years mostly overseas because that paid more now women making was there a w when did the w NBA 19977 1997 and so I finished my career in the end of 2012 okay yeah 2012 wow beautiful and and and so like the progression like going from what with where where you seen the women’s game uh back in the time that you played to now and the perks and uh the amenities and the things that they get um what how do you think like moving forward that the league will be able to grow and sustain what they’re what they built pretty much with the help of men it’s Jana can you mooved up Mike just a little there you go yeah definitely with the help of men as long as the NBA players are supporting the women the WNBA players it’s going to continue to it’s G to continue to get more fans um um I was just in the gym I had a game yesterday and one of the guys on the court said look at him he wearing some sabrinas and I looked and I said some sabrinas and sure enough dude had on the WNBA player shoes my son just said to me you wanted to piss S1 and I I’m like awesome and they let you know the game is changing because they’re saying so Saina never heard any guy want to wear women’s shoes s on that I need the S ones what that’s that’s that’s what and see that’s what I’m saying about the evolution right and and and we we we we learn and feed off each other right we need each other’s support and I think that’s a wonderful thing I I think you hit it right on the head so so let’s let’s jump to here go ahead and introduce yourself okay well no one knows who I am because I’m not that famous we going all right I’m not that I’m let them know who you are bro my name is Benny gross hello I was Bor raised in Dallas now um uh I am a real estate professional in Dallas I’m not here like trying to build business or anything like that but I gotta tell you my story about how I met Jimmy that’s he um growing up uh in the Dallas area you know obviously big Mavs fan you know got my shoot got my socks on so hey I’m gonna say Mavs in five but uh I heard y’all talking about people hanging outside the perimeter let’s talk about KP a little bit um but no when I was a little kid Jimmy what year did you graduate high school 91 so this was 91 this was 91 I’m dating myself uh all these old Mavs fans if y’all remember uh Herb Williams yes absolutely uh Herb Williams hosted this uh basketball camp I remember where it was somewhere in downtown wasn’t it uh it was at it was at um uh it was across from the Galleria on 635 it was it was in North Dallas yeah it was in North Dallas no I take that back I take that back we had two camps so I think that second one that we went to was our Beckley serer that’s it was Beckley serer okay well um I attended as a Young Junior High Age kid and uh for some reason I don’t know Jimmy took a like into me and decided I’d be the best prop for a Dunk Contest so the first guy that ever dunked on me a lot was Jimmy King no that’s a great story it was it was you and Steve headache yep headache Ste Smith headache and Shout Out was that was that back in the early1 right before the before toool I was floating on there I was walking on clouds I’ve seen Jimmy dunk and I’ve also seen him play golf I’ve seen you play golf I’ve seen you dunk you can dunk but I can’t play golf you’re gonna play golf when we were hey when we were promoting the launch of our show we did a video of Jimmy dunking like from the um days all and then I copied the dunk but I did it I will shoot you the video is video so you see I need to see this the oyster tag h talking about oer tag earlier this is oer Oster tag looks like Carl Lewis to me he he he kind of I give him I give him a step up right it was more like it was more like the Joker he dunk like the Joker I dunk like the Joker or Sean Bradley hey let me see that belt real quick Jimmy have you shown anybody that belt have they seen it okay my boy boy don’t know much about it except my boy Austin Holloway brought this specially for you Jimmy right and as a UB husky uh he didn’t bring me my Championship purple one because you know what happened we got a hall of congatulations so when is it let us know about that like what when is it it’s be October the 11th and 12th is it open can we get tickets like what can we do like I’m gonna send I’mma me that’s awesome we were talking before at the beginning of the show and I want to get your take on this we’re talking about Caitlyn Clark and some of the stuff that happened this weekend oh yeah with with the girl kind of hitting her when when the Jimmy said it’s all part of the game I said there was no game going on when she hit her there was no game she was standing there she gave or you think it’s got out of go they’re um they’re they’re jealous it is some jealousy thank you it is which is rightfully so I mean this girl is like I mean I’m looking I’m still jealous that I didn’t get n right we got to get some back payment me too they only going back 10 years I mean this girl literally she did she changed I mean she brought a different type of excitement to the the WBA she did and right there now mind you there were girls better than her who came into the WNBA CH swoops yes Diana teras but they didn’t bring what she brought uhuh right she brought a lot more people watching the WNBA what she brought I mean she has a contract no one besides Michael Jordan got a Wilson contract I mean so she’s doing things that no woman has ever done Sabrina’s got a shoe Sabrina’s got a shoe but Caitlyn got everything else coming those those c1s are coming right lot of influence that’s right that’s a lot of influence with jealousy that’s going to create I mean you’re going to try I’m SC like she was on a going for a fast break yesterday and I closed my eyes because I thought they’re about to take ler so old scho basketball on the WNBA because yeah but some of the arguments I hear are why are they upset at her because she’s bringing attention to the game which is positive and let’s be honest I and Jimmy and I have talked about this on the show I think the salaries for the WNBA are ridiculously low I mean I understand it’s not as Revenue generating as the NBA but you know they’re not they’re not getting paid a lot to play and when you have somebody bringing attention bringing viewers bringing bringing eyeballs you should be embracing that not trying to take her out and kill her I hear you but you know what that’s it’s creating more headlines and the more headlines we’re gonna see we’re going to get people that never heard of the WNBA now all of a sudden paying attention we have a lot of new fans there’s a lot new fans absolutely my kids are talking about I got got two 10year old girls they’re talking about I’m not just saying this because I got a Hall of Famer here with me but I told Jimmy this I prefer to watch WNBA and wom basketball over the NBA any day of the week and I’ve told Jimmy that all my life if it’s on I’ll I’ll watch it the NBA I’ll watch right now because we got our team and we’re rolling with the MTH go Luka but if I’m just watching a basketball game I would much rather watch a WNBA game I think it’s a better brand of basketball so Janette like let me ask you this like because I say this all the time or I’ve been saying this but I guess now it it it it just uh I think it rings more I think people are really hearing me more but I’ve always said that if you really want to learn how to play the game that you watch women’s basketball because they’re not going to they’re not going to cut Corners they’re not going to cheat you uh by using their athletic ability it’s not that you’re not athletic but you guys play hard y’all are more physical um and and you know you get to your spots and you get your shots um and if you really want to learn how to play the game and not get enamored with like 101 or uh Dons and and spectacular you know uhx and one mix tape stuff you know you you watch your sport do you agree with that I agree uh women are more fundamental um women are better Shooters because learn the correct form um they’re going to make free throws I mean so women a women’s game is a lot of times like you said is it’s not going to be dunks and all that women are the women who win the championship they’re going to win based on teamwork making the right passes it’s not going to be one onone this person scored 50 like the men’s game not five out ISO not have a on the team that’s just not how women’s sports is going to be so everyone is going to contribute everyone is going to play their role and that is how they’re GNA win perfect perfect I love that I love that love it’s beautiful game that way though yeah yeah it is because more pure five it’s not one person out there it’s five others out there and um I think we just you know in our era got enamored with Michael Jordan being so great and but he also had great teammates as well he didn’t win those championships by Scot pipp Scotty pipp yeah Michael wouldn’t have won without I mean and I mean you know the reality is is that you know you had Craig Hodes you had uh Steve Kerr you had guys that made timely shots as well you know without them we wouldn’t be talking about six championships so back to the team sport we gotta bring it back baby but see no the deal is the deal is that like the marketing you know you you don’t Market teams you Market individuals and that’s that’s the kind of misnomer Jimmy we should at some point try to get somebody here this guy right here is who we’re trying to get yeah somebody that supports the charity that this guy right here we got we got the two guys are you playing with us I gotta do some
