you may be thinking Sophie do you Golf and the answer is no no I really [Music] don’t today I will be sharing my experience from the 2024 RBC Canadian Open golf tournament I had the opportunity to attend and volunteer a fantastic weekend that has really made me reconsider my commitment to the sport or lack thereof the tournament was held at the Hamilton golf and country club which made it quite special as I am from Hamilton while I’ve never attended the tournament in the past each year they put on a concert series during the tournament I went to see Georgia Florida Florida wow clearly I’m a really big fan Florida Georgia Line this year the headliners were Lady Peace and Josh Ross but I actually only went to see Frank Walker and Loud luxury which I was so excited and oh my goodness they were phenomenal it really reminded me of my University days loud luxury was the soundtrack to my experience I was a little intimidated about my lack of knowledge going into the tournament so what I ended up doing was binging the Netflix series full swing which is a television documentary series produced in collaboration between Netflix and the PGA Tour giving a behindth scenes look at the players and the tournaments of the PGA Tour so this was a great way to kind of put faces to names of players and get a little bit more understanding of how the tournament works and just the general atmosphere and rules and regulations I ended up continuing to watch so I love what Netflix is doing I know they’ve done it with tennis and Formula 1 to really get viewers into these sports that maybe aren’t the most accessible in understanding so as I said I was able to volunteer which I highly recommend looking into not just for this tournament but for any of the PGA Tour tournaments because the opportunities and the benefits and perks of doing so are beyond amazing so I’ll give you a little look into my volunteer experience and what happened at the tournament Setting Sun that a little slower for [Music] me all right let’s take a look inside so they provide this great clear bag which can be reused at other sporting events to align with the regulations for what you can and can’t bring in first up is my volunteer shirt oh sorry about the dog barking next door but it’s so cute with all of the little players decor cting the design and on the back it says golf Canada which is a lovely Touch Too next up is this hat which has the RBC Canadian open logo on it and the golf Canada on the back this will be great to protect from the Sun speaking of the sun it is going to be toasty so having a reusable water bottle will be essential something I’ve seen from volunteers that have been with the tournament a long time is that collecting pins is a fun little challenge so these are my two first pins which is really exciting all right so here I have my lanyard which will get me into the tournament throughout the week and one of the exciting bonuses of being a volunteer is that you do get that full access but you also get a guest pass so this can be used throughout the tournament um for a family member a friend and it’s just a way of saying thank you to all the volunteers which is super appreciated by us specifically me I’m so excited that I can bring my dad and my uncle who are huge fans of the tournament and we can attend together so we do get some other perks such as a parking pass which then you would take the shuttle to the tournament grounds there’s a volunteer appreciation party which is just super sweet and you can redeem for a meal at the party as well speaking of meals volunteers get four meal vouchers to redeem one each shift and a weird fun little bonus is this coupon for any of these what’s the brand I think it’s Matt and Steve’s pickled Goods such as the extreme Bean the asparagus extreme pickle spear baby Dells Caesar Rimer and Caesar mix oo the Caesar Rimer could be a good gift for someone I know and I am never one to pass a pickle so we’ll let you know if I try these [Music] Setting Sun set a little slower for [Music] me I’m not done all my so as you can see it was a phenomenal weekend I mean I think the most humbling part was I was standing very close to Shane Lowry as he was hitting a ball and I quite literally dropped my phone because of this the speed the force the noise the power of His swing it caught me off guard it was unbelievable all the hamiltonians like my myself were cheering on the hometown Legend McKenzie Hughes who was build from Dundas Ontario he didn’t have the Finish he hoped for everyone cheered him on as he made it to the 18th hole regardless and it was just a clear indicator that he made his hometown proud for me the highlight and feel-good moment was watching Robert McIntyre and his father and emergency caddy douge win their first PGA Tour title it was a reminder of the true passion and heart behind the sport with that thank you so much for watching and I will talk to you all soon sun set a little slower for me [Music]
