okay the man that needs no introduction please welcome the captain of Legion 13 John ROM our local hero John you shot a two under today you are currently sitting at t11 um at even par tell us a little bit about your day I’m uh feel like I’m falling victim like many others have just being valderama right uh play such good golf play such a good round of golf both days and it’s like two moments here and there that make a significant impact right uh play great all day have a great round going and on four my last hole to hit that drive and then from there put it in the water it’s just a mistake that cost me a lot right that’s basically two to four shots giving away the last two days in part FES by Hing it in the water and that’s way too much here it’s it’s it’s hard to make it up um but I mean besides that there just one really dark spot everything else was Fant they play really really good golf very comfortable uh of the team ball striking wise you know I’m enjoying swinging very freely and and very well which and hadn’t happen in com back-to-back events or continuous events for actually quite a while I’ve been playing with swing thoughts for a while and managing with it and I can feel myself playing more freely and and playing better in golf so at least I’m really happy about that if you play a Flawless round of golf tomorrow do you think you have a chance yeah oh yeah is bonus at seven 700 yeah I mean if we have a day like today I think if 500 under is feasible and obviously for the leaders to stumble a little bit as well right I mean I need a very low one tomorrow to win but uh 18 ho is still a lot of a lot of golf to play out here uh last one for me totally separate subject I saw a picture the other day of you as a young boy standing at a picket fence uh getting a signature from Henrik yeah and I just that picture like was very impactful to me now knowing you know you are the celebrity here and all the people out here shouting for you cheering for you do you remember that moment meeting Henrik and can you just talk a little bit about that not only Henrik if you look at the picture there’s a red signature on the top there Paul Casey um it it it’s it’s a it’s a great story this is my first ever Pro event uh came with my dad I believe is the Volvo Masters in 2007 more or less Justin Rose wanton it my first ever experience of watching this shot in professional golf was Thomas Bjorn who went to went on to be my rder Cup captain Rosie won the tournament went on to be my first ever r c partner and then Paul Casey and Henry two of the players ended up being teammates and vice captains in the r Cup right so some people I’ve shared a long journey with were people that were present that first day uh amongst other signatures and that shirt is I think Nick Dy uh miguelangel Jimenez and a couple others uh I was I was right behind 18 green and they were all very gracious to stopped by because it was a remember a windy tricky day and um in the case of I remember Paul I think was played with Nick doy and they both didn’t have a really good day and one of them I remember finishing poorly and and still stopping inside and out ofr right so uh he made a lot of us happy that day and it’s really cool to now in Reverse be a part of be one of the ones that was that’s now signing right it’s a it’s a very very unique feeling one of those dream come true moments luckily I get to experience but a lot of people will never get to do you think that the next John ROM is sitting out there and you’re signing his his hat today I hope so I hope so uh it be it would be a true honor but if I can somehow indirectly not directly like that but just by my impact in Spanish golf if I can help the next the next great player rise up it would be absolutely amazing you’re clearly beloved out here so so John what happened to that shirt do you still have it what you still have the shirt oh the shirt uh my parents I think my parents have it I mean I long overgrew that shirt so uh or outgrew the shirt so I don’t know I think they still do that is something my mom would definitely keep so I think they have it I think yeah next time if we play here next year when we play next year I should just bring it out I should probably they they have a golf you see me I should keep it here so so you talked about uh the four shot lead Bon talked talked about how maybe it’s more difficult for Chasers with a four shot lead out uh chasing a four shot lead out here at valy raama maybe versus against other courses would you agree with that well that should be the attitude he wants to have or he needs to have right but as a chaser if I was four shots back I would be very comfortable because it’s very easy to make a bogey out on this golf course but holes like one and two if it’s not if it’s win like today’s you can make birdies on right so I feel like four shots can go away quickly out here I think it was when Matt Fitzpatrick won he sign the luthia Masters I don’t know what year it was 1920 I believe he was two or three shots back on 16 T and he had a margin going to his two puts on 18 so uh yeah I don’t think you ever should be comfortable on this golf course with any short of Le to be honest uh it’s is is that difficult and it’s that precise and when you’re chasing you almost have the freedom to be aggressive because you have nothing to lose my last question uh given Terrell’s performance uh the last event you’re probably not surprised to to see him be T3 right now he’s playing so well I’m not even surprised to see him play well he I think this is a type of golf course that I think he would enjoy right is not the longest uh position golf course but he can fight around as good as anybody else he’s got great hands and great short game and he can flight the ball really well so yeah know I’m not not surprised whatsoever that he’s playing really good golf here okay anything in English before we switch to Spanish okay Elana
