30 minute show today hard stop at at 8 o’clock um and hope everybody has an awesome Tuesday UHC football media days they’ve announced the um they’ve announced the attendees so uh we know that um Garrett nus Harold Perkins Mason Taylor will represent LSU honest question and I asked this yesterday on AFR also on today’s episode of lockt on LSU so I’ll ask you here because you all are a good judge for me um do you really care who goes to Media days I I think sometimes the media cares more about some things because it directly impacts Us in the way we work and things for example like the media the members of the media the credential members of the media who attend media days where media days was held became a very big point of contention would they keep it in Hoover would they move it around Atlanta you was Atlanta convenient all that sort of stuff Nashville last year now Dallas this year I genuinely don’t believe that any fan cares where media days is except for the Nerds from Alabama that want to go crowd a hotel lobby and get autographs from Nick sain well he’s not even there anymore but you understand my point like I don’t think the fans care where media days is I’m curious if you care who attends um because I do very much uh because our ability to provide great content really centers around the coaches and the student athletes being there being forthcoming with their answers being interesting um and it’s a two-way street we have to be uh well prepared and ask good questions and all that sort of stuff but like for example Texas A&M is not bringing Connor Wegman and Tennessee is not bringing Nico Am alava um like I believe the SEC should intervene and say no you’re bringing them because why are you bringing all the media from around the conference asking them to pay for flights and hotels and all the stuff to come cover this event for 4 days if you’re not even going to bring the most interesting people in the league now 11 of the 16 teams are bringing their quarterbacks and that’s great nus Meyer’s going Jaylen milro Jackson Dart Jackson Arnold Quinn yers I mean there’s going to be some star power there Carson Beck uh even Mississippi state’s bringing Blake shapen who is the transfer in from Baylor but is the presumed starter so they’re bringing Blake shapen so hat tip to Jeff leby um so I don’t know I I I guess I’ve been going to this event enough to know um I mean this is good trivia said we care who goes to me days that’s good I’m glad um you know I um I I I just want to make sure I’m always talking about the things that you all want to talk about and care about I um I don’t do the show [Music] for yeah I don’t do the show for me I do the show for what people are going to be interested in talking about and that that’s why I’ve always kind of stumped for who should be attending SCC Med days now for LSU obviously I’m excited that nus Meer is attending and Harold Perkins those two are no-brainers the one that surprised me was Mason Taylor instead of Will Campbell um Will Campbell is a projected top 10 pick in next year’s draft he’s an All-American offensive lineman like you know I um I can’t believe they’re not taking Will Campbell that that was stunning to me I think Mason Taylor will do great I mean I think he’s interesting you know he’s a he’ll be a three-year starter at tight end he caught the the two-point conversion and overtime as a freshman against Alabama he his dad is a Prof Football Hall of Famer I mean his his mom is famous you know that there’s a lot of um there’s a I I think he’ll do great I’m just really surprised they didn’t they’re not bringing Will Campbell so anyway let me know your thoughts on that um also I’m sure youall saw Olivia duns returning to LSU for her fifth year uh may not be the hugest impact on on the floor like on the mat right um for the gymnastics team uh but I respect it tremendously because quite honestly she’s going to be rich and famous no matter if she’s at LSU or not she’s making the decision instead of going and living the life of a rich person in New York or LA or wherever uh following her very famous boyfriend in his uh Big League career she’s making the decision to go to class go to practice and put all those constraints on her for another year when she’s really not going to compete very much so uh salute to Olivia D and L is honestly the huge winner because I mean just look at for example um let’s see like just search Olivia dun I mean how many Impressions come up Yahoo Sports New York Post uh IMDb People magazine TMZ bar stool I mean all of these different Outlets all are reporting on Olivia Dunn’s decision to return to LSU there’s there’s literally not another LSU athlete in any sport that would get that time of that type of coverage for an announcement they make and that that reflects on LSU that reflects on the gymnastics program all the student athletes in that sport that are going to get a ton of attention and opportunity because of her um so LSU is the real winner with Olivia Dunn returning but uh I salute her she just wants to be part of that that Sisterhood for one more year so good for her okay let’s say some good uh yes now um I could see a world brand where and this would be a one-off especially very hard because there’s no divisions anymore but I could see a world where let’s say you lose let’s say LSU this year let’s say LSU loses the opener to SC so a non-conference game they go six and2 in the league and by virtue of tiebreakers Etc that gets you into the SEC Championship Game you win the SEC championship game at 9 and three well as the SEC Champion you get an auto bid now I know that’s not what you’re asking you’re asking for for at large spots I don’t think you’re going to see a world where a nine and3 team gets in at large birth um not in a 12 team playoff where you have five spots guarant gued and only seven at large because I think you’re going to have teams that are 12-0 11-1 10- two that are going to gobble up those spots and I don’t even care what league you’re in I think 10- two or 9 and3 in the SEC is isn’t going to get you there okay um hey Jesse Brown good morning promise it it’s a hard week of work for radio row because nothing is guaranteed like if I were a member of the print media I go into the big main room and literally every coach and every every student athlete comes to me they all come in that room um on radio a row you’re not you eat what you kill you every piece of content every interview you get you have to go hustle it so it is a lot of work on radio row those four days but um you know it’s it’s a lot of fun it’s cool to be able to talk football for four days in July um you to just binge on football content it’s a great sort of like you know point where you realize oh man we’re close um so I’m yes I I I like it a lot Brett uh who starts next to perk um Greg Penn so Greg Penn and Harold Perkins will be your starters it was interesting um Hester and T-Bob had Blake Baker on Off the Bench yesterday and um they uh you asked Blake Baker about linebacker and he unsolicited brought up West weeks as a guy nobody’s talking about so you got a new coach a new scheme and it’s his prerogative to play who he wants and he may rotate those those guys certainly those four with Penn Perkins and the weeks Brothers uh a little more liberally so they all get reps so it’ be interesting to see trivia said I think the locations should change annually between the SEC States so trivia what it sounds like they’re going to do is it’s going to be a like foot SC football championship is in Atlanta the basketball tournament’s in Nashville um it sounds like what they’re going to do is a three City rotation with Atlanta Nashville and Dallas I think that’s what’s going to happen Atlanta Nashville Dallas is how they’re going to rotated um and I guess that’s kind of fair so you’re East Central and West you know part of the SEC I would love for it to go to New Orleans selfishly I mean be super easy right down the right down the road if it was in New Orleans um but I mean I’ve often said I thought the SC football championship game should alternate Atlanta New Orleans so East West year to year um but they’ve got the setup done in Atlanta and it’s been there for so long now they’re just they’re not going to move it so um yeah it looks like those three that’s the word is that it’s going to rotate among those three Jesse you know we’re ready for football and star for Content when ESPN is showing cliff diving Craig duga good morning my dudes Brad David always like media days when Spurrier would speak he always would give great sound bites and not coach speak Spurrier did that every time there was a mic in front of his face um you know Les Miles had his always had his filibuster um where he would talk about you Kathy and the kids and what they did all summer and would chew up as much time as he could in the main room so he didn’t have to answer any questions um Mike Leech was always great um you know R rip he’d walk up and say I not much for speech or so any questions I mean he always had the shortest opening statement it was great uh let’s see green Z is Ion still on campus do you hear anything about us getting him or is he going to take more visits not sure if he’s taking more visits uh and I was told that he was visiting this past weekend so let me confirm on that and see what I can get but um uh that’s Anthony ion for those that missed it uh righty from UCSD California San Diego um 9597 from the right side quarterbacks Will Campbell not being there was probably the biggest surprise Brad why is it so hard for coaches to win football at Arkansas when they have so much money great question um you know when I often say how LSU is one of three that has the inherit advantage of being the only Power five in a talent Rich State both of those qualifiers matter and Arkansas is a case in point so Arkansas is the only Power five in their state and they got a lot of money Walmart Tyson chicken Jerry Jones they got billionaire money but they’re not in a talent Rich State and that’s their big problem um there’s just no there’s no talent in the state of Arkansas that’s why LSU has such an inherent Advantage because this state produces you know per capita as many division one prospects as as any um per capita like they’re obviously not going to produce as many as Florida and Texas in California and Ohio some of these big populous states but Georgia uh but per capita they do and so when LSU gets the best players in the state to stay home you’re going to have a really good roster Arkansas doesn’t have that now I thought in an nil era Arkansas with their Deep Pockets would be able to be more competitive and they just haven’t shown the ability to do it so far which is really strange Wayne good morning I’d say they have a it’s comparable to to a place like Nebraska um you’re on a flyover State there’s not a lot lot of talent there it’s A Hard Sell and if someone else is offering something comparable in nil why why would you pick Arkansas you know same with Nebraska Airtech Rush working man would be a great opening song for you uh I get it working man but there’s also a little bit of a uh of a side there that many people here know that I am not a fan of Rush uh Ryan Pike when do they start adding games to the college football season to offset the revenue share I feel like that’s a Direction they could head um I doubt we see that Ryan not in the regular season um I think what’s more likely as they expand as they continue expanding the playoff because adding a game to the regular season that would add you know a game you know for each team on the TV contract or another week’s worth of games for the TV contract um but that’s not going to benefit everyone universally because some leagues have a greater TV contract than others right um even in the power four so like the SEC Big 10 far outpaces the Big 12 ACC so um I think would be more likely is um is you would um you would see an expansion of the the playoff even a contraction of the regular season an expansion of the playoff um you get what you want on radio row still very beneficial uh brand do you see in most media sources saying LSU makes the college football playoff this year I’ve seen many say LSU is on the outside looking in ol miss the one game to get in my opinion yeah um Brent I haven’t seen many that have LSU in I I think largely I see what you see which is Georgia Texas are sort of the the locks from the SEC and then most are looking at Bama ol Miss as maybe the next team or teams to get in so that puts LSU fifth or sixth in League kind of depending on Missouri based on a lot of projections um and and it’s I get it man um mean think think of it this way if you’re on the outside looking in and you look at a team that went nine and three because they had this amazing offense and the Heisman winner is gone two first round picks at receivers gone the offensive coordinator is gone and your defense was absolutely pooo a year ago why would you think that’s a playoff Fe I mean really have to peel back the layer of the onion to be a believer in what you see at with LSU um this year not saying they can’t do it but I’m saying if you’re an outsider looking in I understand why their perspective is yeah I’m not why would I put them ahead of Old Miss which won double digit games last year and beat LSU and returns everybody and had a great portal class you see what I mean I’ll tell you one thing there is um I’ll tell you one thing that I’ve heard and there’s a piece actually the closest thing that I’ve seen um [Music] one of the things I’ve heard out of Alabama is that is how much different it is now with kayin dor how friendly it is and much easier it is and I’m here to tell you man Nick sabin’s attention to detail his level of give a darn about every minute detail how everyone in that organization reported to [Music] him that’s why he’s the greatest and when someone comes in and does something differently it’s not to say that they can’t do well and can’t have success and and that different can’t have its benefits but it is to say the reason they won six National titles in 12 years is because of the way Nick sain did things and when you let your foot off the gas even slightly in this league I I think they’re in for a root Awakening um yall know I’ve said it plenty um so we’ll see how it plays again I’m not telling you they’re going to be bad they got too much talent to be bad but I don’t think that’s a national championship team um you know that’s a team that my God I mean they sh they needed one of the most improbable plays in the history of the ironbow to get past Auburn last year otherwise they’re not even in the playoff they’re not in the SEC Championship Game Lisa Drago what’s going on or Dro like Bret uh Jamie verret is Caroline Fenton coming back to locked on LSU she is not so I hosted locked on LSU started that podcast back in 2018 so I hosted it from 2018 to 2014 or excuse me 2018 to 2022 four years um I stepped aside in 2022 handed it off to Caroline she’s hosted it the last two years she just got a job she took a job with a Yahoo sports um producing content college football mostly college football content for Yahoo sports which is a great opport opportunity for her and in so doing she had to step away from locked on contractually so it was open they came back to me asked if I was interested in taking over the podcast again and I was so timing worked out so no so Caroline’s off to Yahoo sports and um I’m I’m hosting locked on now again Matt plavidal play the the Shane McMahon intro music that’s uh that’s and three um I look Hunter their schedule’s brutal but three losses is still going to be three losses and I don’t know that you’re going to be able to overcome that with teams that have lost fewer power five teams even teams in your league that have lost few like if LSU goes 10 and two and Florida goes 9 and3 I got news for you coach if Florida’s in over LSU people here are going to burn stuff Page share the post hey Cliff what’s going on man uh Brandt roban is Sabin still heavily involved with Alabama football and how things are run no um he has an office but as I understand it it’s mostly Golf and time at the lake and he’s trying not to be there every day um you know I’m I’m pretty I’m close with a few people that are in the inner workings of of Alabama of football in Alabama Athletics and so I’ve I I have no firsthand experience like I haven’t been there physic me personally to see what it’s like but I have had conversations with people who have firsthand experience and they all kind of tell a familiar a familiar uh story um and I just you keep looking at I keep looking at it and the the changes that they’ve made and man you know when Sabin was I don’t want to say you know dictatorial or tyrannical but I mean the you know the expectation the level of perfection the every detail matters all you his process all of that for Nick I mean that’s why they were what they were for so long man you let up slightly on that you let up slightly in your workouts you let up slightly in your film study you let up slightly in your preparation and all of that starts to compound and all of a sudden that fourth and 31 you get against Auburn you lose that game you know um you that the 10-point loss to Texas you get rolled you know the dog fight that you’re in with Arkansas there where they they’re a stop away from having a chance to go win the game you know they get that stop make the score and you lose it you know what I mean it’s like that’s the margin that’s so thin and I look at at even theore last year at Washington you know with that team that played for a championship I mean they were dead to rights in the apple cup against a bad Washington State team um they needed a plum Miracle to beat Oregon um in the regular season matchup I mean they were they were a breath away from being a 10 and two team you know and being in the Alamo Bowl you know um so I may be dead wrong y’all kayin dbor may go in there hair on fire new voice New Vision breath of fresh air and may just lead that thing and they may just go Bonkers and go undefeated win The Natty this year I just don’t think I see that um like even when I hear the media talk about oh it’s so much better he gives us access and he’s a nice guy and I’m like you didn’t care that Sabin didn’t give you access and wasn’t warm and fuzzy when you recover on a team that won six national titles in 12 years you really going to care about access I mean look that’s that oon story I mean one of the first things Ed did was he opened up opened up practice and gave the media access and did all these interviews and and well people love dead anyway all right I gotta go uh Cliff what up M tall yeah Patrick Peterson
