PA Racer for the Krietz 69K, Logan Wagner joins Erin Evernham and Ashley Stremme.

[Music] ladies and gentlemen we want you to stand and we want you to make ladies and Gentlemen let’s go racing here at Knoxville oh the best go three of it is Showtime at Williams Grove Speedway ladies and gentlemen boys and girls here at Aldora Speedway it’s showtime you got him for a rep often imitated never duplicated the greatest show on dirt the world it’s time to sit back relax and enjoy because ladies and gentlemen it’s sh set to do battle 4 30 laps the green flag is waiting hello everybody and welcome to Wing Nation I’m Aaron everham alongside your co-host I think from South fend Indiana somewhere on the road traveling Ashley stry Ashley how you doing as you can see we’re just chilling in the trailer right at the moment we’re here in Indiana unfortunately we got rained out this evening so we are headed back East but uh not in I had to take the time to chat to some sprint cars with my girl Aon today so uh excited to be here well we appreciate it we like the background it gives us some good vibes I have some questions about the rapping on the tires there like any any shemy secrets Here Yeah the shemy secret that you’re seeing with these WRA tires is my husband being a former asphalt driver um he does not like his trailer dirty um we I vacuum at least three to four times throughout the night of a race event um so at the end of the night the tires get wrapped up in cellophane before they get rolled into the trailer because God forbid we bring more dirt into the trailer that’s impressive now and I’ve heard a story about him like sweeping the dirt like the dirt under the race car at the track is this true yeah that was early in his dirt career uh he start started to embrace uh dirt racing I think maybe just a little bit but he’s very OCD and very particular about how things look and not having to roll around in extra dirt at the racetrack so yes early in his career he did sweep his pit stall all right well enough picking on poor David who’s not here to defend himself let’s get into our hot topics um right in your home state Pennsylvania speed week uh presented by Red Robin gourmet burgers and Bru the overall Champion champ Champion excuse me Anthony Macker uh what a performance he he put on this past week yes and back to back at that so to to back that Pennsylvania speed week last year and this year um nine races obviously happened with speed week this week uh three wins and eight top five finishes obviously Anthony and that car are back back to their normal self uh out winning races but uh you know also having three wins this week Danny Dietrich so to have those two pretty much fill up speed weeks is is a huge Testament to what those guys are doing especially Danny with the struggle that he’s had so far this season absolutely so overall those nine races like you mentioned three wins to Anthony Macker three wins to Danny Dietrich two wins to Logan shuart it was nice to see the World of Outlaws gave a a freebie for the weekend what were your thoughts on that I thought it was pretty neat after all the rain outs they’ve had absolutely I mean it’s a smart business decision on Carter’s part he knows that his drivers race for a living and when you have that many rainout you got to let your guys be able to to try to collect money somewhere somehow we actually chatted with Logan last week and he touched briefly on that that you know there was a group email that Carter was listening to their concerns and you know it gives them the opportunity to kind of hit some tracks now especially Logan that he’ll get to be able to see later this year before the world Outlaws roll in yeah and Logan you know admittedly hasn’t had the greatest start to his season so it was neat to see him come home get some wins um average car count for Speed week was 32.7 Cars thought that was pretty good 82 drivers competed in at least one event um in drivers competed in all I don’t think that’s probably as many in the past but like we’ve talked about all season with all these series and people running everywhere um we’re not seeing that that attraction just to Pennsylvania speed week are we no absolutely not and in my opinion it was probably a tick warmer this year than it was last year um which I know that can wear on you pretty quickly when you’re out there busting your butt all day long in that hot humidity so you know it’s hard to say what actually deterred people but still the fans though I do want to mention that the fans showed up and showed out for PA speed week um obviously I was an attendance at for Roy that place was packed for a Wednesday night show um so kudos to our race fans we can’t do what we do without you our drivers can’t do what we do without you so thank you for showing up for p week this week absolutely and like you mentioned the heat and humidity it’s crazy we talk all spring about the rain outs and then they get nine races in and I know you know we’re in I’m North Carolina now was in Florida but my Ames all up in the Northeast and they are complaining about how hot and humid it has been the last 10 or so days yes it’s been ridiculous here in Pennsylvania I mean was it two weeks ago we were hitting 98 Degree Days um yeah so it’s been a little warm this summer Mother Nature has been finicky to say the least yeah we got some other racing in this weekend too Lake of the oark speedway the power eye Bandit Sprints Friday and Saturday uh Hunter sherberg won both nights pretty impressive yes and then of course King West in the NC series they were at Petaluma and the winner was Sean Becker really cool deal uh first King of the West win of the season for him so so cool to finally see that in Knoxville it was pretty neat we see Scott booki who’s had a wonderful year so far he had a top five with the World of Outlaws recently passed Aaron ritel coming to the white flag and it was his career first 410 win in the United States yeah I’m sure that was extra special obviously I read a couple of the headlines and one of them was Aussie wins at this Spring Park capital of the world you know and we know that that’s what these Australians live for right they come come from Australia they move to Iowa so they can they can finally capture that so I’m sure that was a huge huge win for him and obviously I had to go listen to his Victory Lane because he’s Australian and I just absolutely enjoy that I knew you were gonna say that all right well we’re gonna take a quick break and we come back we’re gonna have Logan Wagner join us on the stage fruit hotline stay with us Tony do you even remember how to drive one of these it’s not something you forget you should know that the drive to succeed the need to win the desire to be a champion and we surround oursel with partners that believe the same like Tony Stewart racing Sage strives to be the best in all they do they work hard on the farm in the packing facilities and with their Retail Partners to provide high quality apples and peirs all year long you can compare apples to apples but nothing compares to a sage fruit apple winning quality in every bite welcome back this is Wing Nation presented by Sage fruit joining us on the sage fruit hotline is Logan Wagner fresh off of a win at the Port Royal Speedway welcome to the show Logan hey guys thanks for having me absolutely so tell us about that win it was uh I believe your first career Pennsylvania speed week win um pretty cool to get the 69k back in Victory Lane again at Port Royal yeah I mean it was awesome just for like GRE odet you know like the The Prestige of that race I really think into the future like that’s going to be a crown go um I mean I raced with Greg a lot um and you know to do it in his honor that was it was um yeah it was for the memory book right so I feel like Donald NY and Davey we’ve all been really click and just done 14 events early in the year um and we’ve had some speed as of lately and I feel really really good behind the wheel like they give me such a comfortable car like night in night out and sunre so um yeah I mean we we won I think two or three weeks before that and had a lot of speed had a lot of speed on that Wednesday night and then to be able to get up front start in clean air and then you know hold off Brent marks and Ma and dri those guys behind you you know it’s like running in the woods and being chased but I felt like we were picking off some clean laps and and comfortable there for the end if I went back Logan you talk about Davey and Donnie and you know obviously we know they’re passing what they’ve been been able to create what that learning curve obviously we know with Lance being in that car he’s a bottom feeder you kind of run the whole track what has that learning curve been like for you just and you guys learning one another and what you want to see out of a race car yeah I feel like a lot of what I wanted going in was for me to discipline myself and to really commit to that bottom and middle Groove and don’t get me wrong it it worked and it was working great I just find myself a lot of times uh to not be as versatile maybe as I once was so you know like I just felt like a couple weeks going in they had the track really G to be top dominant I could tell when I walked in and I knew we just had to be there so I mean a lot of my um a lot of my experience over the last I don’t know seven eight eight nine months with Don and David it’s for me to just shut my mouth and listen to everything that happened say right I mean like yeah as a younger guy I’m 33 Dave’s 90 um he’s forgot way more than I’m ever even GNA learn you know and he comes to me the other day and tells me something that he just learned with Pitman the night before and I’m like at 90 years old you’re still learning like yes it keeps me young like the history behind that team you know there is a lot of weight on your shoulders but when you get there you don’t feel it you know they have a way of you know easing the tension and and I feel like for really St click here you know mid qu during the year you mentioned uh um Pitman and and Davey talking with him and learning what is that been like to I don’t know if you’re sharing the exact same car as Darren or not or if it’s a different equipment but we had Darren on the show a few weeks ago and he just spoke about getting in that car and it feels so smooth and you have so much confidence in it what has it been like a to share the car with Darren but is that you share those same sentiments when you get in that car yeah absolutely I mean like when you sit in that seat you know you’re just going to have a really really good feel night in night out you know that window they give you uh is phenomenal so um even when the car is bad you know I feel like you can make like baren myself and and Lance like that you can correct for it and you can find an even faster Lane down so even SP I mean get ultimately at the end of the day can be a fortunate thing um Darren as far as uh him and I and I we chatted over the winter time and I have always had a really good relationship and uh he’s found speeding that car as well early in in um and I look forward to see him go out to Knoxville again and I was I was confident with the car that it went quick time out there um it has a lot of speed and time throughout and that’s that’s a testament to Donald and Davey what they do with that car to make it roll so free so um yeah it’s just really been a pleasure to work with every all parties involved you CID you know like he’s there in my ear before we’re going out time trout telling me what where the guys are running so that’s that’s a critical part you know as a driver to to have that edge with all the people involved it is so true and I mean we’ve talked about it before Logan obviously the haters are going to hate and they call you the one track Wonder but I think it really goes to show especially after nine days on the road you know and you’re only racing for Royal and you’re still coming out with a Podium F finish on Wednesday and then obviously winning on Saturday so not racing every day is not hurting you in any way shape or form but I know we chatted you know when you were still in the onz you had you were a pilot at the time are you still flying now have you kind of completely been done with flying and racing is your full Focus or is there’s still a part-time deal for for Logan on the side no actually I’m I’m managing an airplane um at our local airport now tuna for a really great company um really fors meant to be in the position I’m in so I get to man didn’t fly as well and really work with his family oneone so that’s my full-time job really and then racing has been secondary I mean we get to race when we can and like you said like I think in the top six we were six in in winning um in the top five we’re all guys that run every single race so I feel like to be able to pick and CHS and run your races wisely I feel like CH has always really done a good job of with land and money earned at the end of the year I feel like it’s always right there too compared to some guys that run 50 or 60 show so yeah I mean I I’m really happy where I’m at with my family with my doob with with Ray and uh yeah I mean everyone that booos they’re all making noise I like to hear it right Logan obviously that the part-time racing thing is working out well for you with two wins this season and I think in only 14 starts but had was that an adjustment to I mean I know you you didn’t always run a crazy amount of of races per year but still this is pretty part-time it’s working well but was an adjustment to do that yeah no it really was um I I do feel like right now I want to win uh really bad I feel like I think it might have been when um dos was like 35 they said like a driver hit his Prime at 35 not saying after that you don’t you know you’re not really good but it just sort of a depended driver’s age and I feel like I was 33 so I want to race right now and I want to race bad and I feel like the more we race only the close we can become so a lot of rain outs early in the season but getting into you know couple races here in speed week then one into this weekend I feel really good with the team you know even at our race count Okay so we’ve chatted about all the racing things catching up I know I want to talk real quick about your loud pedal apparel um and then your your trip to the beach right at the moment that we absolutely interrupting no no it’s all good hey loud pedal is strong right now we just ordered a new pair of magnetos because they sold out and they’re coming in here in less than a month and I’m excited to show everyone I mean they really nice but I love um a nice pair of fitting sunglasses I just do for flying in and Rising but um they’re coming in soon so that’s awesome but I’m here on the beach right now with the family it’s also get Dad down here for the week we’re in no City Maryland to come as a kid I decid to come back this year so awesome to have the kids but no I do appreciate you girls having me on as always and I hope to really hear from you going into I guess here at the end of the year I hope we bu some more wins I can be back at once absolutely well we won’t keep you any long we’ll get back to your kids and enjoy the beach but just quickly what are your plans for the rest of the year yeah I think you know ultimately I would have loved to go to Alora but I don’t think we have the win count right now we definitely have the speed and time trout but their focus is going to be noxo right now and then going into the tuser 50 is my focus so um I I feel like it’s a weekly show I want to hit Williams Grove a little bit more because how could you not that car I feel like it’s so good um so I want to race Williams gr more at Lernerville for the high limit show and yeah good just picking to you know try to get as many wins as possible really at the end of the day awesome well we appreciate you so much for coming on and taking time away from the kids go build a big sand castle and good luck for the rest of the season yes thank you so much for having me on absolutely well that was great to catch up with Logan Ashley um it’s kind of neat to me as a retired driver but to see someone who kind of is balancing it all well the balancing Family Life business isn’t it absolutely I mean it’s a struggle and It’s a Grind um right I mean a job in itself is a grind anymore so when you can find that Niche that you can find with your Sprint card team where you’re comfortable you’re happy everything’s meshing well in your daily life with your job it sounds like Logan definitely has it figured out right now it sure does and it is is a a lot of a mental game so it’s great to catch up with Logan um we’re going to step away and we’ll have more more Wing nation in just a minute Tony do you even remember how to drive one of these it’s not something you forget you should know that the drive to succeed the need to win the desire to be a champion and we surround oursel with partners that believe the same like Tony Stewart racing Sage F strives to be the best in all they do they work hard on the farm in the packing facilities and with their Retail Partners to provide high quality apples and peirs all year long you can compare apples to apples but nothing compares to a sage fruit apple winning quality in every bite welcome back this is Wing Nation presented by Sage fruit let’s go to the National spring car Hall of Fame birthday calendar later in the week Thursday will be Gary Patterson’s birthday Saturday Sam Hanks uh next Monday would be Richard Griffin Elmer George Ricky hood and Charlie Wiggins but today is the birthday of my good bu who I haven’t seen forever Jack hwit he is a 2002 induct into the national Smart Car Hall of Fame he’s a second gener generation racer his father Don raced in northwest Ohio 1975 Jack started racing and was mentored by Rick ferle 1979 he had uh World of Outlaw start fifth in points in the inaugural season Jack was not a points guy he just chased money in trophies easy to believe with the All-Star Circuit of Champions he had 56 wins he was a 1985 champ Champion um some of his other highlights he won the grand annual Sprint car classic in marable Australia the Belleville Nationals the hoer 100 in 90 1998 he swept the four Crown at Elora uh crazy Storyteller great guy um iconic moments on the internet we all know of uh did you do you know Jack at all Yes um so we got to interview him at the king’s Royal one year with wing Nation being there um and I I honestly laughed through the entire interview obviously he’s well known for his most famous quote that you can kiss my and he is a trip and I think what I love about Jack the most is every large Elora race Jack is always there um and just a great guy willing to chat with anybody and just as you said an incredible Storyteller yes he is uh one time many moons ago when I was racing with the All-Star Circuit of Champions We did an autograph session early in the day and he completely embarrassed me in front of the whole crowd I would tell the joke but it’s actually not appropriate um and totally embarrassed me but it was actually when I kind of knew that Jack was starting to maybe take to me because he’s definitely was not for women in racing or behind the the the driver’s seat or the cockpit or something else he called it because I didn’t have that so anyways um went to Australia that year and he ended up being a huge help to me so um I cherish the friendship that I have with Jack and um it’s pretty neat but if you want to hear his story and many other you know spring car Hall of Fame has it all ww. sprar hf.com this week and this weekend World of Outlaws are back on finally it feels weird that there was a break Wednesday we have the Jim boy classic at
