this is the third edition of the ladies open the first edition was 2022 when I was a lady Captain here and I’m the one who started the ladies open in L last year again we had the second edition when I was still in the chair so this time it is handed over to Jennifer opio and I’m really happy that we got a lot of support but we are still calling on many more corporates to come and you know support us in golf because L golf was not being played in the olden days it is we who came back now who are here trying to revive the game of golf so we call upon the L members really especially women we are very few we need them to join Golf and I’ve been training children here since I came from Age 5 to 18 years so we shall continue because they are our future golfers now usually we are under the Uganda ladies golf Union so every year all the clubs we have a section ladies section in the in the club so we are supposed to organize a ladies open it’s a big uh competition which is local and then International we we call also International golfers to come so ours is starting today the 12 and we are finishing tomorrow um the 13th of July golf usually people think it’s for the old and then the rich but it’s not like that I’m 63 I’m still playing golf I walk because in a golf um uh game of 18 holes you walk about between uh 7 to 10 km ours here is like for 7 kilm it’s 71 there are others which are like uh they 72 which is like 8 kilm uh with golf you get a lot of exercise is a a mind game in fact if you are stress at home and you come and play that little ball you go back home fresh and your stress is taken away it has helped us a lot we mingle Among The Young and the old we are at par at when you are at golf we do developmental talk also you make your business also on the golf course so it’s quite good I want people to join golf especially people from L here I want to invite the youth the young golfers to have this golf course at heart not just to come and play and go they have to have it at heart we the seniors have tried our best at least now it is seen that L also has a golf course so the youth I’m calling on to the youth the the young professional that are playing golf now to have this course at heart if we call them to come and help they should come and help like for this competition we came together that’s why this tournament is like this I started playing golf about 5 years ago right from the time that I I joined parliament of your Uganda I I join golf club because that is the game that I I find fitting for me because I cannot run but I can walk so as uh as the golf rules are we we always play 18 holes so 18 holes when you play it means you have walked about 10 km so it’s a very good game for exercise for the young people for the elderly for those who cannot do any other games but there are also people who can do um quite a number of games in their lifetime so I’m calling upon everyone that this game is a very simple game it’s only a matter of learning it and knowing how to play it and it involves a lot of calculations I I may say and uh as we play golf and as we interact with so many people from different regions different countries we always bring development to our to our country and to our district and to specifically L go Club because the people whom we interact with are people who can bring development this is a a game of networking it’s a game of networking that’s why I said uh some of the developments as you see around uh come about because we interact and network with so many people
