[Music] C everyone welcome along to Stratford International Speedway it is time for the New Zealand stock car championships it’s absolutely beautiful day here to kick off the Friday qualifying Banker it’s absolutely gorgeous here we’re here of course sponsored by five liquor uh this is a really exciting competition this weekend of course we’re here for the New Zealand stock car Champs we’ve just come off the New Zealand superstock Champs it’s all happening and uh over this the you know the next couple of weeks we’ve got the beautiful weather we’re standing here just in front of the current one indeed we wish him all the luck of course we don’t know if he’s going to be able to hold it on not with a field of 200 Cars yeah so officially just under well just over 200 Cars to start with wasn’t it and as far as we were aware before um The drivers’s Briefing earlier there was still 200 Cars entered so we’ll will be able to update that for you as the Night Comes Along I like you say out of those competitors Josh Walsh he’s currently got the one in Zed is it going to be able to hang on to it it’s just top three qualifying how tough is that going to actually be listen I actually think it’s going to be tougher to qualify tonight than what it is to actually get a Podium tomorrow because the uh the the groups that have been stacked together uh a really good field in every group so it’s going to be really tough I’ve got like five or six favorites in one group so I’m just like oh eyes closed I don’t know what’s going to happen yeah I mean I’m a part of a group chat on Facebook with a few boys and you know we’re looking at having a few picks and you look through those groups and every single one of them is stck it’s like a you got a Podium and a championship just to qualify tonight and then you’ve got to do a lot again tomorrow and that’s the thing as well I mean tonight they’ve got to look after their car they’ve also got to look after their bodies because it it’s going to take a lot to be able to do your qualifying races in this heat and this sun and then feel 100% tomorrow to come and do it again so there’s a lot on the line tonight and I don’t think it’s just that qualification to get through to the finals tomorrow yeah so it’s going to be very tough out there for the qualifiers as we look behind us they’re actually starting to come out for the grand parade very shortly it is the pits medium myself Tony Galler on the mic first time actually with Bianca down the pits looking forward to this one Bianca and we’ve got the lads upstairs as well but we’ll go through to some uh some Grand parades very shortly and we’ll try to pick out a few drivers and grab some interviews on the way around [Music] all right so we’re down here with the current New Zealand Champion Josh Walsh how you feeling about tonight mate oh yeah just taking the the day pretty chilled and um yeah just can’t wait for the flag to drop and get into it yeah I mean looking at those qualifying groups they’re all stacked uh it’s going to be extremely hard just to qualify I guess that’s just your main aim for tonight so far yeah it’s got to stick out the front I think um stay out of trouble obviously need a bit of luck um all four tires up and yeah just see where we end up so you got your good drills so far you happy with those I actually haven’t seen it yet so I uh guess I’ll see it when I get back from Grand parade yeah I mean from from a driver’s point of view as on the pass as well I guess it’s one of those things you don’t stew on if you don’t know your grid draws until it sort of you start heading out the gate it’s probably not a bad thing uh the traffic track surface at stford here it’s been good so far you looking looking pretty good for you so far um yeah I’d like a few holes to make it a bit in for everyone but uh yeah I think it’ll go slick and uh slick and probably struggle a little bit at the start but yeah it’ll come to at the end and having watched you in the past I know that you’ve got that slick set up ready to change later on the night you hopefully the pointy in and get through to qualifying so good luck mate cheers mate all right so we’re down here with Jay Huggies ham from down cross one of the hopefuls I’d like to say from the south island this weekend how’s the confidence leading into the New Zealand Championship mate um we’ve only actually had one run so that was at Nelson which is relatively similar to here so we had a bit of pce here which is nice um I don’t normally I’m pretty prepared so to be I wouldn’t say unprepared but uh to not have done as many laps almost feels like a little stresses off cuz I don’t have too much expectations so we’ll obviously try to put our best foot forward but um we’ll just see how we go anyway yeah so your best finish Bay Park in the North Island previously in the New Zealand title fifth place up there um you’re coming up here you obviously want a bit of that and then qualifying first on the radar man there’s a lot of quick cars here so if we can qualify it’s only top three um if we can qualify that’s an achievement in itself um fingers crossed we we obviously do go better than fifth I don’t want to get fourth but it’ll be it’ll be still cool to just to be part of the event man this is this is huge absolutely awesome to see you guys and the other South Islanders make the trip up here as well from CH so so good luck mate and hopefully get through the qualifying than you [Music] n hey n [Music] whoa it was a bit uh loud down on the track there be so we thought we’d come come down here and grab you in the pit of course you need no interaction Rebecca bar driving the 134 P car today um BS the qualifying today is going to be absolutely outrageous in the terms that there’s only three of your cars going through out of each heat I mean it’s going to be pretty hard to get into that qualifying position yeah yeah it’s going to be pretty tough you’re going to be like have to be on your game right from the start and keep all your ties on and yeah just finish races really and going forward all the time I mean gone to the days where you can have a bad race I think you guys are going to be um you know have really bad luck if you have one bad lap that could possibly put you out of contention yeah pretty much you know like I thought it was hard last week in at the New Zealand supers but you know the stock cars just there’s so many more cars so it just makes it even harder really I think the one thing we do have on our side this weekend of course is the weather it’s absolutely beautiful here at your hometown yeah well you know you got to come to the Neer to get the good weather all these people are telling me it’s great in Hawks Bay but I don’t believe them I mean I can bch for that b it was wasn’t very pleasant but hey I can see old Mr grah bar behind us doing his thing he’s got this uh car on rail already this year but tell us how do you think you’re going to stand on this in the uh on the track um well it’s been a long time since I’ve actually raced in [ __ ] even though it’s only 20 minutes from home but um I’ve always had good success in the stock car here so I’m looking forward to it really and got better grid draws um this weekend so that always helps and yeah GB will have it dialed in and um we’ll give it a good lunch Bix can you tell us what your grid positions are uh 215 and 23 I think so yeah I’m pretty happy with that obviously be better if it was the other way around but yeah take it yeah I mean a lot of people do like starting off the uh back in the last race as well because a lot of cars haven’t made it through to that qualifying so you instantly gain a lot of positions here how do you feel about that yeah that is sort of good um but if there’s any Block cards you sort of got to go through the whole field to um get to the front but you know that’s all good you can make positions up from the um the back where if you start off the front then you can’t really make any more points up so you know they good grids now I mean we were talking about the groups uh while we’re out on the track here BS and group seems to be a really really good bunch of drivers um there’s no stacked groups a lot of people say it’s all stacked and rigged and what have you but this is a really good field yeah no they’re really good even spread groups um last weekend at the New Zealand Superstars I didn’t quite think so I thought my group was pretty stacked but you know these days are all hard um there’s 200 Cars here that qualify you know for a 30 car final so everyone will be going pretty hard for it yeah hey BS listen it’s really hot I’ll let you go and get ready on what have you because you guys are um quite early up so I’ll titles how you feeling about the weekend so far yeah it’s a bit of a lottery this one we’ve got a car really driven and uh yeah it is what it is now just hold on yeah I spoke to Jay ham a little bit earlier and he hasn’t done a lot of laps the season along with yourself I saw you make a sort of short appearance at roroa and you want to tell us a little bit about the car actually you’re racing this weekend yeah this is old printer spank that went to Dave Marshall and in the hands of Steve which is uh it’s for sale so pretty lucky to let me have a skit of it hopefully prove it and hopefully sell it but so uh grid draws I mean you talk about a bit of a lottery out there this weekend um your grid draws are probably a big part of that you’ve got your grid draws already for race one you’re the first car out of your first group out on the track as well you’ve taken a look at the track how you feeling about your grids and the look of the track for race one yeah grids are good I got uh got Poll for the first one so if we can stay there it’ll be pretty good for the rest of the weekend but uh yeah it’s going to be big up hold on yeah now good luck for the weekend Gary and we hope to see pretty hot up here we’re not used to this weather in Wellington yeah no it is pretty hot he the um clouds pretty good before but now Sun’s came out now so you’re getting a good sweet on Tim tell us you’re in the yellow group so you’re up first tonight what are your group positions uh I’ve got four on the first one so yeah hopefully I just get away from the the push and yeah get through it I mean it’s a pretty tough track here in terms of um I mean you were here last year in the super so you know about the track but it’s still it’s not an easy track to drive in terms of the navigation because it’s kind of you’ve got the shorer track in a sweeping corner it’s not it’s it looks easy but it’s actually quite tricky isn’t it yeah it is pretty tricky but it’s quite fun when you get to know the track and you can actually go around it but yeah now we have a fleet of you you’ve got you and your brother Sam he’s not in your group though is he no he’s in pink pink group yeah pink group okay well listen we might catch up with you later on tonight I know that um everyone’s trying to relax and what have you but I believe Tony you’re down the pits with Sheldon yeah sure am Sheldon out Petty former 2N Z now got the 9W on the side of the K you’ve had the S you’ve had the r time to change back to New Zealand you reckon oh hopefully I suppose that’s everyone’s plan here tonight so uh you want to be is favorites I’m sure she’s got you finishing up on the podium there but how’s the qtr being going this season yeah we’ve had a pretty good season so far we’ve done a good handful of meetings and it’s been positive all season long so yeah we’ve had a few championships here and there yeah we’re ready to go for tonight hopefully and you I mean sure as H know your way around Stratford Speedway so have you done any many laps the season here yet uh we done one meeting early just before Christmas and yeah we had a good run there so hopefully fingers crossed and yeah we’ll get into it all right good luck for tonight mate and qualifying she’s got a bit of a job ahead of you there 151 C Wade sweating Long Haul up from Christ Church mate yeah it was a pretty big trip but we made it here and we’re ready to go so uh you based much in the North Island you haven’t done any racing up here this season yet have you oh yeah I’ve been at Ro uh then we went pretty good there got second so we’ll see how we go tonight yeah so uh no podiums in the New Zealand Champs view just yet um tonight you have to almost finish on the podium to qualify we talked about grids with a few of the other drivers what are your grids looking it for heat one uh grids are pretty good we’re all up the inside so yeah hopefully we’re can sneak through and yeah top four or something and uh we know Wade sweding he likes a a bit of battle in the club rooms so uh who’s your biggest rival that you’re thinking that’s going to happen after racing as well uh possibly sh n per uh yeah we set a chat to him but good luck out there tonight Wade all the way from Christ Church 151 weade sweding hey guys so I’m down here I mean these pits are huge Tyler Walker I’ve been running running running trying to catch you drivers you’re right on the corner uh home track tonight Tyler it’s going to be hard to beat you I don’t know if it’s much of an advantage or not we haven’t done too many races this this season here with the stockers so we’re hoping for the best as well I mean this is your home track you’re probably one of the Hometown Favorites and you totally underestimate yourself every time I talk to you Tyler but listen it’s a tough tough competition this weekend we’ve got 200 cards only three from each group going through it’s going to be so tough yeah it’s crazy it’s pretty much well you’ve got to win a championship really on qualify not to even make the finals so if we can be there there about you know just got to be fast consistent and try and stay out of trouble would be the biggest one I I mean we’ve got beautiful weather we’ve got a great track and what have you but like to say it’s just so tough that it’s just going to be uh quite random as well I think with the points you guys have one bed lap and that could potentially be you out especially with like the flat right hand side to Rule now you know if you get a flat right hand side Tire you’re pretty much done for your you know whole weekend Ru really so um yeah just trying to St out of trouble and you know not get your bumbers hooked up and wheels and stuff you know just trying to be cautious and traffic and stuff like that everyone’s going to have to be um pretty cautious and yeah best of luck to everyone really how are you expecting the track to behave tonight with so many cars I mean doing laps on it oh probably same old really stford doesn’t doesn’t change too much it never seems to have any drive so um if has drive I’ll be happy but um yeah it probably catches a lot of people out so it might might be a little bit of Advantage but yeah if you can hook up and get drive here then you’ll be very quick so um yeah it’ll it’ll be interesting yeah Tyler one last question can you tell us what your grid positions are tonight um I can in the car I haven’t really looked actually but um I think I have 11 um yeah I’m not too sure I didn’t pay too much attention I always put you on the spot with your yeah pretty relaxed just ready to get out on the track and see what happens you’ve had a busy few weeks and I’m guessing you had air few busy weeks coming up as well New Zealand superstocks just last weekend but uh knuckle down time much work to be done on the stock car before this meeting n it was relatively pretty good there wasn’t too much to do just quick easy Bol check and a couple crush rils and there a look through and uh we have to talk about the beautiful weather Stratford’s putting on for us mate what are you thinking about that yeah she’s holding off so far hopefully the kimt TRS keep away and now we’ll be good yeah all right good luck for tonight mate and uh some some decent work you’re at race four I believe yeah race four track will come on by the then and we’ll be right all right and uh the well it’s been told to carry on talking so we’re going to B longer than we hoped for here um haven’t prepared myself for this actually um you’ve been shown good Pace you happy with the re race car so far this season yeah I can’t fault it it’s been pretty much been on since I’ve had it I think it’s this fourth or fifth year now to every race just like the first race just all right and um previous I mean I race with South at Bay Park you were up there in points almost going into the final heat and whatnot uh then we talk about Greymouth you got 4nz you think it’s time you mean you’ve got the package to get get there and get up on one of those steps this weekend yeah there I I definitely have a package that’s nothing short of one of the best cars here not just being up myself but so there a good 100 other cars here just on the same playing field you probably say 150 there’s not many that aren’t on the pace anymore so anyone’s title really yeah good luck for the week here mate we’ll cross over to ban she’s got another one to interview guys I’m down here with Blake Brooks Blake Brook crowd flavorite from uh Oakland you’re in a new car Blake it’s a all new look for you but you’ve got to get this car riving tonight oh that’s the plan e that’s why we come down to these events is get them riving put a show on for the crowd yeah yeah like I mean seriously men to men what do you think your chances are here it’s a tough tough competition with with 30 oh what is it down to now 25 cars I think it is per per uh group and only top three going through it is hard it’s going to be hard for everyone um it’s not going to come down to driver and gear I don’t think it’s going to come down to drawers and and luck on your side um so we’re just going to give it our all and put everything on the line and do our fans and our sponsors proud and and hopefully we get through to tomorrow night Blake I actually like that there’s a lot of cars and that it’s a great competition for you guys because when you do get through like you say there’s a lot of luck but there is a lot of skill and that skill really shines through in a competition like this ah yeah the cream always Rises to the top so hopefully we’re in that cream so I mean everyone’s got good cars this year every year the new zealands more and more cars the cars are getting better and better um so it’s making it hard to get make the finals so we’re looking forward to it that’s the thing too the cars just keep advancing and advancing you guys get better gear better crew better equipment even better Towing rigs as well I mean it just gets better and better at what point do you think we’re going to re reach our Pinnacle I don’t think there’s ever going to be a point we will stop um I mean if we were going to stop it should have been stopped years ago and it hasn’t been so we’re going to keep pushing and everyone will keep pushing and get faster and faster every year Blake I’ve got to ask one last question putting on the SP do you think we’ll see you in a super at anytime dreams are free one day I’ll be there hopefully yeah I think um I don’t think I’m alone when I say would love to see you on fairly new to it uh former Street Stock New Zealand champion this time in a stock qualified in Oakland leading up to this week here mate you’ve had a hard few nights yes it’s been a few ones in the workshop um but we made it today so um and brand new car to you not brand new car in general but brand new car to you you’ve done a fair few laps in it yeah this would be our fourth meeting in it after we wrecked it the first time we got to race it um so we rebuilt it over Christmas quite quite a big one too and then we got to run it last weekend pretty happy with it and um we’ll go out then we’ll see what we can do with it so we’ll see the 87r stock car out there in Heat number four tonight um you’re looking for to being out there on this race surface you’ve spent a bit of time in Stratford over the years yeah we’ve done a few laps around here um Stratford Stratford hasn’t changed for years so we’ll just uh hammer down and go hard and uh you told me before the interview started what’s happening in race one for you mate yeah we got um Paul what a good way to be welcome back to stock car e straight into it yeah so you’ll have uh 25 or 23 other drivers behind you pushing hard into turn one I mean what happens it run us through what happens actually as a stock car driver you know Street stocks a bit different you know it’s not as much contact supposedly um you know what it’s like being at the front of a pack you know what it’s being like in a finals pack uh what’s it going to be like tonight for you buckling up for grid one heat one ah just nothing really changes once the helmet goes on you start you start to focus on what you’re going to do out there and just um yeah dump the clutch and hopefully you can get away it’s been a little bit different with the holding it doesn’t have the talk like the Ford does so sort of adjusting into how to get it off the line pretty quick so uh we’ve got a front seat so we’re going to have to make it happen yeah just hang on and hope for the best like they say I mean you’re not going to have a greasy track you’re going to have a a pretty good track by Race Six I’m sure um but yeah good luck for tonight Chris and we’ll cross back to bian yeah I’m down here uh with Bryce basy actually I almost called your pull oh my gosh dad’s going to give me the badge 351 from ockland price I mean you’ve come come a long way to uh enter this competition what are you thinking right now oh pretty nervous he obviously being the first time racing at stford I’ve actually never been to stretford before even with the old man you know so going out first race as well so it’s going to be a big wake up call but at the end of the day there’s another 200 old cars here that have got to do the same thing you know so we’ll just go out and give it a good crack I mean if you don’t manage to qualify you still come down here you’re still going to test the car you’re still going to have fun it’s well worth the trip yeah definitely you know like don’t just come down here just to pick the grass you know come down and have a jam and obviously spend a lot of money and time on the cars especially over the last last couple weeks having dramas with it but hopefully we’ve got it on song now and go give it a good crack you know BR when you talk about dramas can you explain to us what those dramas are oh I’ve been having like a lot of gearbox problems and diff issues and break issues you know just general racing stuff you know so hopefully we’re on top of it now spend a lot of time doing it big um shout out to the Brooks family for obviously letting me keep my car there and yeah big shout out to all the sponsors you know without them I wouldn’t be able to do what I do you know and a big shout out to the Ms and my daughter you know without her wouldn’t be able to spend time away from home and that obviously looking after the bubs and that so yeah and obviously big shout out to the old man um letting me use like steel wers you know anything I need dad’s always behind it and yeah it’s pretty cool yeah I mean you’re throwing out a lot of thanks you thank you there Bryce I mean that’s what it’s all about isn’t it making connections your family friends this is not just a oneoff you come down here and you’re a solo driver it’s actually a really group event for the for you all yeah 100% you know like obviously um we’ve been on the sport for a long time you know and like growing up watching dad and that it’s just it’s just so cool you know like being involved in like a family sort of orientation you know like it’s pretty cool um and like it’s cool traveling with obviously my partner and baby as well you know like it is hard but hey you do it and it’s fun you enjoy it obviously spending time with a lot lot of people around meeting new friends obviously going to different tracks and that which hopefully we’re going to start traveling a bit more and yeah can’t really complain eh hey I’ll tell you what I’ll give you last one last word do you want to give a shout out to all of your sponsors or some of your sponsors that have uh managed to help you get here tonight y so obviously VY engineering being the tonight we’ve got now moving across to the Hawks Bay Caleb island in the 19B tell us what sort of preparation you have to do on the car leading up to this title mate uh well lucky enough to get a run at Hawks Bay at the superstock practice and yeah blow a gearbox so better better to BL there than come over here and do that so no we just had a cruzy week and sort of mentally prepare and I’ve been keeping up to date with a little bit what you’ve been doing through the season actually it shows behind you right there you’ve had a feature race win down at mean Speedway your home track you’ve had some good results so far that’s some good confidence leading into the New Zealand title yeah definitely we’re um trying new things with the car every week just to see how far we can push it and uh with a bit of an engine change from Ace with a brand new one we uh yeah had to change it quite a bit from last season just to get all the power to the ground really yeah I mean stock cars they’re effectively just an underpowered super stock these days the way they handle is amazing the way the Eco shocks the uh the braks are doing their thing now you’ve got an upgrade from Ace performance as well you’re feeling really good with the car itself as well yeah real comfortable uh feels like another home it’s a real good car so yeah can’t fault it really yeah I’ve been quite a few seasons old but still a really good bit of gear and I mean you can be at the pointy end now we’ll talk about qualifying tonight you’ve got some grid lines you’ve some grid draws you’ve already got them up you know you’re feeling good about them uh yeah another stitch up grid 14 so we’ll just make it one lap at a time really yeah well we spoke to Chris englon in the 87r and he was saying you know he’s off grid one so he’s like buckle up and hold on but I think actually that’s probably what you need to do we’ll work it out at the first corner I guess so yeah all right mate um so we’ll carry on down the puts here actually we’ve got Callum steer right next door thanks very much to Caleb Island the 15v hasn’t quite caught that we’ve got on to him Cullum he’s not looking too happy about jumping on the microphone coming up from wongi have you done any laps of Stratford so far this season oh come on boxing day and that’s about it haven’t done much racing this year so you’re feeling good about the car and how it’s how it’s sort of handling and what you’re doing around statford at the moment yeah yeah happy is ah sweet so you’re in the white group as well grid uh sorry race four this evening the track’s going to come to you fairly quickly I’m sure yeah yeah it should be right and what sort of setup let us know what sort of setup whether for bar angles you’ve got going on for that race yeah don’t really know too much though just run it she’ll be right all right that’s the 15 V Callum St out of w we will head across to you B you yeah I think we might uh wrap it up after a couple of these nervous about the interview more than anything but they’ve called you guys up to the uh democr so you’ve only got a couple of minutes but what’s going through your head at the minute while you prepare no not a lot just cruising I don’t really get stressed just another meeting just another meeting look at all your team around here they’re probably more stress for you a probably yeah it’s probably a good thing that that stress because then you can just concentrate on your hand on your job at hand yeah pretty much he so so tell us what group are you in tonight uh yellow group so that’s the first group out or do you know what your grid positions are uh grid 22 and then I don’t know about the next s doesn’t matter after that age 22 how do you feel about that though do you like starting off the back conditionally yeah it’s pretty good on a wet track hopefully there’s big first corner porush and just sneak my way through yeah I mean a lot of drivers say that keep an eye out for it though way you have a good look in the car there see what sort of preparation goes into this we’ll let him get his bouts on have a quick word to him kle one of the sort of favorites of mine from py looking at going in you’re off the first heat tonight how you feeling about tonight you’re ready to go it’s been a lot of prep going to this moment so we’re ready to get into it and uh tell all the viewers at home that haven’t driven a stock car before you know like the nerves they sort of start coming on now you start sort of getting a little bit jittery as the seat bels come on are you feeling pretty relaxed tonight yeah feeling reasonably relaxed but obviously a few nerves zo come with the event bger but we’re ready to go yeah there we go Kyle Ro the 74p he’s get himself buckled and ready to go one of the quickest oldest cars actually that’s re number very early it’s about sort of re 13 or so that one uh and one of the hopefuls from paliston North in the day’s performance re race car we’ll and good family and everything to uh you know that that chip in week in week out and uh get us actually on the track every week so tell us I mean the crew looks pretty cruy at the minute they’re all kind of relaxed but it all changes as soon as you come back in from your first race well hopefully not because hopefully you can stay out of trouble and it’s only a bulk cheick and everything like that and you don’t get too much damage I guess with three cars that only go through one hiccup uh you know one mishap or anything like that you don’t get through so you’re hoping to stay out of trouble it’s only a wipe down a bolt check and a check over fuel up and go back out again and Brendan you’re of course probably here coming off a big high from your success last week in the supers I mean do you hope that you can replicate that tonight yeah hopefully like uh I guess last weekend we had no expectations brand new car first meeting so um I the way we finished it was actually really really good for what it was so done this one many many times done the stock car many many times so yeah just hard with three so hopefully we can just stay out of trouble and sneak through and qualify without having to go to a repi charge or something tomorrow let’s talk I mean realistically Brandon it’s so hard you guys are going to have one flat tire one bad light one spin that’s pretty much you gone right yep that’s pretty much it Corner one and two and then next one three and four sometimes Luck’s on your side you know you could be have still a good grou draw but there’s everyone else pushing and everything and you get like you say stuck flat tire on the outside you’re straight off and you’re not making it probably through to even the riit charge you’d have to push pretty hard I mean 200 Cars you pretty good caliber drivers but uh Brendan watching you uh pedal last week I really really do like my chances I’m not a bidding girl but if I was I’d probably put some money on you Plus th000 car and go there and wreck it so I couldn’t turn it down again and to be there with the boys again it’ll be cool so I’m looking forward to it Harley I don’t think it’ll be teams racing without you there I mean you’re definitely obviously one of the reigning Champions at the very minute but it’s not a big competition without you being in there and we’ve actually really missed you in the super too so this is a a really nice welcome back to you yeah that would be cool you know defending champs and stuff like that so that’s the main reason I’ve said okay to it you know I was going to have a quiet year this year not do any teams racing and just picking ch what I was going to do but the boys want me there so I’ll jump in for the boys and hopefully get it done again do the boys know already or are they watching this and going oh my God we’re got to put up with him for another year no I think about an hour after I got off the phone to Malcolm um the group chat started with all the boys so no I think we’re all pretty pumped up and I’m looking forward to it it’ll be good well I mean we’ll break away from the the supers for just a moment to talk about this weekend like I said before you’re obviously a standout driver in your in your class and and in your group but I mean pretty much in your last one you and Tyler Walker all you have to do is finish it from here yeah the nose clean keep the tires up and hopefully pull through top three it’s pretty hard you got to finish well quite far up to to qualify so hopefully a good place in this next one we’ll see us thir of the finals tomorrow we’ve actually lost a couple of really really good drivers through nothing other than punchers which is the worst Lu of course we’ve seen Rebecca bar and Dale Robinson I think are out there doing it with the boys as well and I saw D Robertson in here admitting as well that well wasn’t admitting as such it wasn’t like he was saying against it but he was saying that the fact is that you did actually pass him before the flag and the video events come through so congratulations on qualifying and uh at this stage I believe the only girl thanks I just want to say while I’m on three-way tie for that third place per Carol pusi actually paid the $250 to protest that she knew 100% that she was in front of Dale that’s really good to see her through that’s her first time she’s ever qualified for New Zealand so she’s absolutely over the moon and good on her oh a Mr Phil I might catch up with you later but um it has been a great night of racing I mean we don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow but we do know for sure there’s going to be a new one two three in dead yeah well that’s what it’s looking like at the moment but um I mean Gary Lan and Scott tenant we often talk about how through the rer charge a Podium Place get it comes through so hey it might be a premature call but hey I guess the only thing to do is to wait and see I mean I’m going to put you on the line uh put you on the spot right here if you were to pick someone n who’s going through uh could you give us a one possibly two three uh for the the New Zealand title uh William Humphries is actually looking really really good out there at the moment um he’s probably the one that from the racing that I did manage to get to see um I’ll turn it back on yourself what are you thinking I’m definitely thinking Tyler Walker I think it’s going to be extremely hard to beat at home um he’s on fire we’ve also can’t discredit um Harley Rob as well I mean he hasn’t had a lot of time in the car however he was on fire we know that he lost a couple of cylinders in his last race we know that har is going to get that fixed overnight and he’ll be on fire tomorrow yeah and the other one to keep an eye on I think ston Henderson he’s made a lot of changes to that car he’s got that thing hooked up out there it’s going really well and I think a bit of a Dark Horse might be the 5K he’s never qualified for New Zealand title so uh we can stop giving each other the grief about that now we’ both qualified for one um yeah it’s going to be a BL good night of racing absolutely and we’re definitely hanging out on the right place by the referees I mean we had more action here than what there was out on the track yeah well the good thing for me my my bung hip sometimes you know is I get get to stay out of pain and not walk around too much but yeah it was a uh I mean I said it once I’ll say it again fifth time probably a hive of activity around the speedway office sort of the place to be really I think um yeah apart from when we’re probably catching up with all the action tomorrow night uh down pit Lane with the top group I think here’s going to be the other action place to be and it will be easier for us to catch up with some of these drivers tomorrow the the pits are just so vast that there’s just no way we could have caught up with them so we will be bringing you more interviews tomorrow but
