Gary Woodland, born in 1984 and turning 40 this season, is a PGA Tour golfer from Kansas, USA. After graduating from high school, he went to college on a basketball scholarship but later received a golf scholarship and had a successful golf career in college. Turning professional in 2007, he earned a PGA Tour card in 2009 and began his tour career. After winning his first title at the Transitions Championship in March 2011, he lifted the major U.S. Open trophy in June 2019 and has four career PGA Tour wins.
In August 2023, he suffered a brain lesion that left him with a baseball-sized hole in the left side of his skull and faced fears of death after undergoing surgery to remove a tumor. However, he returned to action less than four months later at the PGA Tour’s Sony Open in Hawaii. He said with a smile that he now has a robot head with the scalp reattached using titanium plates and screws. “I don’t want this to be a bump in the road for me. 티타늄 판과 나사로 두피를 다시 붙인 로봇 머리가 생겼다며 미소를 짓는 그는 이렇게 말했습니다. “저는 이것이 저의 길에 장애물이 되기를 바라지 않습니다. 제 커리어에 점프 스타트가 되기를 바랍니다.”
