welcome to tables list and chairs and stairs for this Edition oh because it’s it’s TLC if it’s your first time here at TLC here’s how it works the three of us have come up with a certain wrestling category a top 10 list of a certain wrestling category and we’re going to go through and reveal our picks at the same time each of our picks have been assigned a point value so our number 10 pick is worth one point our number nine pick is worth two points number eight pick is worth three points Etc until we get all the way to the end total up the points and see what the definitive right answer of the category is today I am joined by Sullivan hello and I’m joined by Luke hello there and we are going to be going through our top 10 best match stipulations ever i’ I’d struggled with this one more I would have done the worst one way easier cuz there’s a load you can pick out from that wrestling is inherently very silly yes yes so it’s actually been very hard to find wrestling take itself seriously and be successful at it oh yeah yeah this is very very difficult and I’ve looked at my picks that I made some time ago and I don’t know if I was right is it like the last time you and I did this and you just picked once from your childhood it’s all stipulations for the year 2000 the main event of backlash 2000 3 2 1 okay okay hel in a c I thought that would have been a little higher I agree and originally it was higher and then I sat back and was like when was the last time we had a good one and so that’s why it’s it’s kind of fallen down on my list because I think as a stipulation it’s great but it has been hugely watered down I think them naming a whole pay-per-view after the stipulation really damaged it supp the last great one we had would have been Cody Seth only like 2019 so it’s not like hu no 2022 it’s not like hugely long ago but man there was a point when I was so sick of seeing the stipulation appeared being like hell on the sell pay-per-views dreaded it cuz I’m like these matches don’t need to be inside the H but I am a man who was nearly 40 so I remember when this match meant something I remember when they would announce H in a c you like no way Hell in a Cell Cactus and Triple H no way out when they did the Armageddon Hell in a Cell and it was like there’s going to be six guys and oh I can’t wait to see this so that’s why it’s on my list but low on my list it used to used to be great I don’t think it’s that great anymore I quite like the potential of a submission match more than any like specific submission matches that I really like in history I like the idea of like two wrestlers who have submission finishes going into into a submission match to see which submission is the the the greater one but I also like the idea of someone who has a submission finisher going against someone who doesn’t and be I’ll challenge you to a submission match and they go oh well that’s changed the stakes drastically I I love twists on normal match is and this is the slightly different you can’t win by pinfall but you can by submission I really really like this I love submissions in wrestling anyway and this just highlights when you have people who have really iconic submission finishes to them pit them against each other is really cool I see those words and I immediately go like oh Ben Jericho yeah ex angle Ben like the two guys who got massively over finishes who which is submission based going against each other yeah very good this I’m it might well rank higher in my list but it’s just too many names for one type of match like good old fession Donny Brook genuinely you could add about 12 to that it’s ridiculous it’s the same match yeah it’s the same match um but I I I there have been so many great no GQ hardcore extreme rules uh street fights uh very good old fashioned Donny Brook uh bloodline rules bloodline rules what does bloodline rules mean there have been amazing ones but there have also been plenty of rubbish ones um so it has to be low down on my list but still one of the best three two one o o oh ooh wire Massacre I don’t know if you know this about me but I really like TNA from from the mid 2000s tell me more about I don’t know the bar wire masar bar wire masac is when you have no ropes and it’s just barb wire okay right right right so it’s the exploding Barre death match with no explosions that’s exactly you yeah yeah and like it’s Abyss versus Sabo abyss’ arm is all up still because he did the bar Mas match with Sabu and everyone at the time was like why the did you do this match because you did it in front of 200 people and now your arm is all like messed up it’s all cut up and everything but when they announced I was like we’re do bar Mas I was like yeah R because it reminded me of like awesome hardcore 90s wrestling where it’s like we taking away the ropes and it’s just barb wire now and that’s that’s for men men are going to fight and they’re going to bleed it’s going to be awesome yeah TNA TNA and was it awesome it was fine yeah but the idea of it so what he saying is they need to bring it back yeah give I mean I another SP I honestly think aw should give it another go because the bar wire match they had sure the sparklers were a slight let down they were quite bad and I think we can all laugh at that and I think it’s quite fun for us to all laugh at that but the match was real good up until that point so I’d like to see them do it again I’ve G for this for only one match and is it from the year 2001 perhaps oh maybe it was just really good it was really good it was really great I don’t know why Triple H W considering that Austin was going for the belt at the next pay-per-view make any sense but what a great match he shouldn’t have W but yeah you’re right it’s oh it was so good it was so much fun and oh it was like three stages of hell it was it was spooky why have one match when you could just have three yeah at once yeah I think they have done it again oh yeah they’ve done it quite a few times yeah but I don’t I don’t know about them yeah not not an extreme ruls match crucially not a no DQ match but an unsanctioned or a lights out match I think is like a a really fun wrinkle again on like a a known stipulation of Extreme Wars no DQ but you get the extra thing of being like but anything can happen and this isn’t actually sanctioned and we’ve got referees not in referee shirts for this and or you know in case aw like you know lights come lights go out the show is over but we’re having this match now adds that extra wrinkle of like chaos to it as well it’s a really cool like Vibe for the whole thing and there’s been some awesome unsanctioned lights out matches MOX Omega was awesome MOX omega’s incredible Rosa Baker Gano champer from New Orleans like uh there’s so many great examples of these they’re bowler yeah and I love this like huge kayf thing of just like we are not promoting this match this has got nothing to do with us yep but hey like they they want to do it turn the lights on you can all go home if you stay here that’s on you we’re not promoting this match but we are going to let you know in advance that it is happening it is so in a way we are promoting by the pay-per-view because you will see it it’s got nothing to do with us we’re just keeping the cameras rolling for other reasons not not to sell DVDs of course you understand if they just had an actual post show and the match was just happening in the background we just got our post show guys don’t worry there’s nothing to see here we’ve kept the commentators out here for fun 3 2 1 oh oh Pete um do you want to um what were you just saying what you just saying so it’s so it’s you know Extreme Rules but with an extra wrinkle don’t mess with the classics [Laughter] man what are you going to have next Pete just match a match singles sing that’s my favorite ipulation oneon-one my name is Stone Cold STW and I like one-on-one matches very you got to think they have been a lot of good oneon-one mat in history there’s a lot of them check the footage it’s just already cute it’s nonsense it’s fun I love it it’s great I had no DQ on here twice sue me I think gaet matches are [ __ ] great yeah I love them so much I just think about that one from like leading up to Kofi Mania two of them actually oh when when Theo forfeited that beautiful M I think another one they did on Raw which like an hour and a half or something ridiculous it was like well over an hour or so it that was really really good really awesome it’s such a strong stipulation it’s brilliant I don’t look I don’t know if you know this about me I like TNA from the mid 2000s go what is this match I’ve never heard oh the monsters Ball Match so the monsters Ball Match is that all of the wrestlers are locked in cupboards the before the show for for 24 hours and they’re not given food water or light so when they come out to the ring they’re like rabbit animals no no Luke Luke no and then they have a hardcore match this is not no no Luke someone said all just locked and covers presumably covered in sh piss I mean they probably give them some buckets but they’re not allow food or water yeah no food so they’re dehydrated yeah dehydrated they’re hungry and they’re just like oh so angry and pissed off and they come out and the lights are shin they’re all like oh no the lights cuz I haven’t seen sunlight for 24 hours so was it was it any good was it actually good right yeah yeah I’d say so I think if you asked a TNA fan do you remember the monsters Ball Match from Bound for Glory they’d be like yeah I do actually yeah know no if you asked a TNA fan if they remember the match it should not be the criteria as to whether it gets into your best stipulations of all time yeah and they’ be like what a fun stipulation that was okay what if you asked a regular person I don’t know Sullivan what do you think of the monsters Ball Match it sounds [ __ ] it sounds mental and [ __ ] well they were mental and covered in yeah that’s fair and Raven was in it as well so you know extra bonus points so we going to are we going to get the triple threat hardcore yeah not just a hardcore match hardcore match brackets at WrestleMania [Laughter] X7 3 2 1 oose close close close close close close um that’s an interesting one yeah I think this is like a a a great idea when they announced it there was this bit of speculation of like H it sounds like you’re trying to over egg this pudding and just put gimmicks upon gimmicks upon gimmicks but I don’t know if you know this about me I was a fan of TNA in 2000s and if there’s one thing I like it’s add gimmicks on gimmicks the one they did like recently like late last year where trick Williams won is awesome because you can tell some great stories in there it’s idea of it being a scramble match but it’s also a battle royale but it’s also just a regular single or five way match six-pack challenge I I think it’s really really awesome I mean it’s co as its own NXT thing I think WWE can do some really good stuff with it when when the the the rules first came out I was like oh this is a bit much and I like it’s like oh it’s one of those where they’ve just tried some stuff and it’s not going to work and it’s going to feel really awkward and like I said you watch it you go well that somehow just works really works it’s also nice to have a new stipulation that is like actually new and like like and you know not just you bringing back old stipulations or anything like that it’s like a properly new stipulation and it’s really fun yeah we haven’t just brought back an old stip and give it a new name yes exactly like this is an actual new match type in the last couple years we’ve had some great Iron Man matches danis and mjf biley Banks was awesome um historically not the greatest track record but I love the idea of an IR man match so much more I love the idea of people like we’ve got an hour and we are going to beat the living hell out of each other and just the the idea of keeping score of how many Falls and stuff like that tells some really interesting stories it’s why I also really like two out of three Falls matches the idea of like keeping score even though it normally goes well it’s one all and then we just have a match even that’s typically the formula I still the extra added layer of it is so so good stories about endurance and things that which is so different from normal wrestling storytelling I think it’s it’s an Avenue for Unique stories that we don’t normally get yeah I I nearly had it on my list as well as is it’s not on my list and the only reason why I didn’t have is cuz I was like ah MGF Daniel something there one incredible match an incredible story they told Bailey Banks is another great example but I always think of that Brad sha on it’s real bad it’s quite tedious even like the rock Triple H one from Judgment Day which I do think is is quite good it’s also like it’s not great I think the idea of going for an hour can sometimes feel a bit laborious I like simple things I like a big cage big blue yeah big it’s sometimes big in blue it’s sometimes big in silver it’s a sometimes big good red it’s a big old cage obviously it was the next one down from hel in a sou but like still it had an or an aura to it back in the day where it was like oh it’s going to be in a steel cage One Step under warar games I think it’s the most fun to announce it’s me versus you in a steel cage it’s like oh yeah you get like a real oomph out of it it’s great 3 2 1 ah nice that’s War Games we’re just talking about war G War Games War Games war games it’s the way it’s announced but also the way the match is actually done I’d never watched any War Games matches until they brought it back um you didn’t grow up with war games no no not at all but it’s quickly become one of my favorite stipulations there have been some great matches uh from old and and new of War games I really like the double ring that’s silly um I like that it I mean it pretty much you only issue with war games I suppose is that it often is the same story where the heels Dominate and they have the numbers Advantage for a long time there is there is one correct way to do a war game my favorite thing about the two rings thing is the show has to happen before it and so like wrestlers just switch Rings Okay match number one is in this one and match number two is in this one moving on to Elon musk’s favorite match tile yes this may sound like an X-Men comic from the mid 2000s but I don’t know if you know this what’s this one so ultimate X that’s awesome so TNA used to have a six-sided room yeah and they do it with the four sides as well you have four like scaffolding and you have a Crosswire so it’s like uh red crosswires that makes an X in the middle and then you have to climb up the scaffolding then scale across the uh the wires to get to the big X in the middle and you unhook that or if there was a title match you unhook the title and you win it and it was just some of the most spectacular wrestling I’ve ever seen and as my fandom and uh interest in TNA grew anytime they announced an ultimate x match I always knew I was going to have a great time I always know it’s going to be wacky X division highflying nonsense AJ Styles took one of the gnarliest bumps I’ve ever seen in pro wrestling where he’s hanging from the wires and it’s either sa oredy Williams does a springboard drop kick and AJ flings himself up and then just lets go so he just takes this huge flip bump right down to the mat he falls so so far ultimate X rules uh if if You’ like the the elevator pitch for it it’s uh a ladder match but the ladders are on the outside it’s a ladder match but there’s no ladders and speaking of ladders for the first time in TLC history TLC is an answer ho yeah it’s TLC setion TLC matches are so much fun uh when you get big multi-man matches in TLC it’s awesome cuz you just get so many spots on spots on spots and you get really creative with the bumps that they take the huge Heights off the ladders the crazy chairs and table bumps that they take highflying nonsense but like controlled highflying nonsense when they announced that match for SummerSlam 2000 my like 14-year-old mind could not process what do you mean there’s going to be tables and chairs tables L chair I could not fathom it and I was just so spectacular and then the one they did again at um WrestleMania X7 is so good yeah 3 two 1 oh in my head I was like this this lives in the world of this it is it is a it is subcategory it’s a subcategory of this so I’m counting this as also that yeah all right all right no no I’m not lying I’m not lying don’t don’t comment that I’m lying I’m not a liar okay TLC comes up later solivan no no no they’re different they’re different they got tables and chairs this this has got a briefcase in it yeah and more lads and well you could have as many Lads or lasses in this one as you like you could have 100 versus 100 if you wanted that would be ridiculous I should never book wrestling don’t tell tot car now putting all the lads in ladder match the lads are match well I’m going to say yes yes you’re correct absolutely and I think we could nearly handshake because it’s basically the same uh but this one has a title and said also with and that could also be a briefcase as well thank you could be a contract yeah could be a contract yeah why is Money in the Bank Superior then it’s the gimmick that goes with it cuz I get a match stipulation that then has a potential year-long story line that comes after of you have a guaranteed title shot and really like a lot of companies have like stolen this idea and done their own the the casino Battle Royale Ladder Match Joker whatever it was kind of had like oh you can cash in the chip at any time TNA have had their very versions of it as well kind of the Feast of fire type things the cashings have been sort of bit like hit Miss for the last I don’t know 10 years or so but I think people are always excited for the match a dog color match now there’s been some CAC ones in history but recently always seen a Revival CU dog col matches are so awesome the idea of being literally tied to your opponent is really enticing and being able to use like the chain between it as a weapon during the match the storytelling that comes with it of particularly like the MGF Punk one where MGF was trying to run away and punk was like no thank you in your C and like being able to literally tether him and stuff like that is brutal matches they’re always so much fun I love dog color matches they’re awesome 3 2 1 Pete we were so close we were close yeah do you want to talk about your lad match it’s fun a it I know I had TLC earlier but I actually prefer ladder matches I love the creativity but comes with you like we’re going to do a bunch of ladder spots specifically cuz ladder spots are so brutal they are like the worst of all the bumps to take is on a ladder and the creativity that comes with it is awesome I love ladder matches particularly big multi man matches I think they’re so much fun ladder matches are great like ladder War if you ask lad war in like ring of on like oh oh it’s it’s going to go down now one of my favorite things in the in the whole of wrestling in the whole wide world of wrestling is how much uh Owens and Zayn have massive boners for taking gnarly ladder bumps awesome those two just look at laders be like what’s the worst way we can land on this that spot for money in the bank where KO gets like bent over the thing like that mean from The Simpsons is oh I hate it this is even more painful than it looks elimination chamber I love the early 2000s I love it and I love how spooky this made me feel it shivers down my spine it’s got the a little bit of Rumble a little bit of hell and a cell cuz you got counting down and everyone loves to count um and you also uh you got staggered entries and things like that I think there’s just something about this that it just seemed much more intense and head in the cell when I was a kid and so it was like that next level up of like oh it’s going to be a torture place of horrible things um and that was has always stayed in my mind I had this hot take on um survival series when we did uh elimination chamber winners mhm I like the elimation chamber that’s insane you’re mad I don’t like it wild absolutely right I can’t name you one where I’m like oh yeah like that’s one I’m going to have to go back and rewatch like the first one’s great the Intercontinental Championship one that’s that December to dismember yeah I i’ I’m so underwhelmed every time I see an elimination CH match I’m so underwhelmed by it but there are pods yeah pods L yeah with bulletproof glass and bulletproof that’s the wackiness of wrestling I do like is that there bullet nothing can go through this dly you put a match in your list where they just stuck restes in cupboards for 24 hours yeah and it was great no it wasn’t I could name you all of the people that I think were in it so what what’s the a barometer on I would remember that match congratulations your memory on the match and that’s why I like it suiv this match has Cupboards in the match I bet you they can have a drink if they want they can see the bright light Sullivan anyway don’t call that yeah what you said it’s great it’s awesome three two one Su we were so close it’s got pots Luke got pods it’s got cabbage oh come on the PS man yeah but I’ve seen people have a packet of crisps while they’re in there so and then that just gets them ready doesn’t it I mean I’m just take her add some water you know absolutely that’s exactly it they would have let him burn if he TNA there isn’t TNA that’ have made that a match stipulation set on fire before the match starts it’s the first person to put themselves out oh god oh it’s a reverse Inferno [Laughter] match anyway H cell H cell some some have been a bit rubbish but it’s great it’s good there’s not much else to say I mean it’s spoilers Helen aell is not on my list um cuz I think there are more hits uh more misses than hits at this point agreed it has been so watered down I’m like I don’t care I agree with you but think of the good times like the early 2000s they announced Edge and Balor for Wrestlemania hell in and I was like okay yeah that should be and when we go Hell in a Cell can’t wait and I was like okay you excited by Russell Crow introducing the match no no that was a bit weird wasn’t it and then they they got their own colored Kendo sticks yeah they sure did that was weird and he was he was bred Edge that match is so stupid it’s really silly apart from Edge comes out to Slayer yeah text me while SL fall in capitals I think Helen’s going to make a comeback they got rid of the pay-per-view mhm so we’re going to see a fewer of them yeah that’s true and I think with Triple H at the hel I think it’ll actually make it good very few times when you announce a stipulation in modern day times we you’re like oh I believe that I am going to see Anarchy in the arena because it is a i loved like visuals sometimes from matches and that visual of Eddie Kingston drenched in blood like not only his own but everyone else’s and he’s walking down to the ring with a gas canister and a lighter because he wants to set Brian Danielson on fire brilliant actual Anarchy in the arena I love it and like the first one they did in the pandemic when they did the first Stadium Stampede is one of the most bunkers matches horse in it like it is actually insane for me though the the stadium Stampede stuff it’s always like this thing is going to happen over here and then this thing happens over here anak the arena is like everything’s happening at the same time everywhere and also we’re going to play music while it’s happening why not I I think I disagree on that one because I think yeah the first Stadium Stampede when it was like a cinematic match absolutely but when they did the second one at um when fans came back it was just like Anarchy in the arena but it was called Stadium SED cuz they were in a stadium yeah I guess I don’t know these guys they just kind of agree on anything no you feel like different things you rich well that settled it great I like that you ask producer rich and not me uh all right solivan what do you think I don’t know 3 2 1 [Applause] oh Have You Done It Again Luke two different stipulations I don’t know if you know this about for Metal Mayhem is what TNA called TLC matches right that exact is the exact same thing just they can’t call it TLC just call it TLC mate yeah but I can’t just ignore the the quality of Full Metal Mayhem matches I mean he’s not a not a Philistine Pete go I celebrate all wrestling Pete I’m not just an e drone like you are an e drone e drone drone e drone e drone lights out and do col match on my list yeah oh pick up your paycheck from straight through Connecticut it’s only one car you bow down his name Tony anyway T tables lad chairs oh my it might be my favorite match of all time but it’s not your number one but not number one no favorite match simulation it’s my favorite match of all time money in the bank is a lot of match but more because stipulation carries it to more it’s great like you said I look forward to it every year the idea of like are they going to make someone new for this are they going to cash in successfully it carries the the stipulation has carried through the whole year it has such a presence across the show at all times R ev’s Great 3 2 1 r I actually didn’t have this on my list at first cuz I don’t think of it as a match stipulation here same here it’s an event yeah it’s not a match sck but it’s just it’s just a match yeah I had the exact same thing and then I was like I was about actually cuz I was like oh I just realized something that there’s a match that is a cuz you were like I think I’ve got a pretty easy number one and I was like yeah I mean I obviously have a very easy number one not saying what it is but I was like yeah definitely got that and some went like oh no there’s a really obvious number one I was like what did you had before and everything came down by one yes it’s magical that’s what we’re saying with money in the bank is that even when you’ve had and we had a Duff run of of Royal Rumble Royal AG the matches be the winners a real Duff run of the every single year I can’t wait for the Royal Rumble right my favorite watch parties we’ve ever ever done was that Royal Rumble because it is just you get to countown backwards yeah and it’s brilliant and you go and then the music hits and you pop and it’s less so now because all the de Rebels music is like yeah it’s not great oh it’s Jan of Bas yeah it says Chan of Bas on the Tron I’m going to assume it’s you get a world Title Match of WrestleMania it makes it feel important every single time even if it’s been crap for ages you get to it you go oh it’s Rumble season though in it casual fans you show them a rumble first that is the match you show them first it introduced you to 30 guys exactly 30 girls he’s like these this is the roster these are the wrestlers and you get to see all of their gimmicks and whatnot like I it’s so good people getting eliminated and being angry about it tag team splitting up all that stuff you have so many avenues for different stories with this match typ it’s perfect yeah I when we did our 10hour stream when we hit um 50,000 Subs on R podcast and we did a Royal Rumble randomizer even the bad ones you can have fun with friends because it’s like oh do you remember that guy like oh man Mason Ryan like is in yeah each one’s like a time capsule as well like that era of wrestling it’s so it’s so interesting to look back on them so we got the results here for the best wrestling stipulation of all time Richard just put fire Russo as look I didn’t put a doomsday chamber of Blood match it’s a real match that’s awful in TI third place oh elimination chamber and money in the bank with 15 points wow yeah crazy in second place with 23 points TLC in first place with a full 30 points what could it be it’s the Royal Rumble oh yes and if you want to total up all of the different Ladder Match variations it’s 50 points it is Ladder bracket General General it gets more than that but Royal Rumble I think is the over the overall winner yeah yeah a
