[Music] the 82nd New York State 18 and under boys Junior Amateur Championship came to The Links at hawaa Landing down in the Southern Tier 106 junior boys teed off for 54 holes of individual stroke play on the link style layout the low 40 and ties after round one made the 18-hole cut and progressed to rounds 2 and three the cutline came in at three overp par Jonathan Oaks of Terry Town new yor York and a rising sophomore at Kenyon College in Ohio ran away in the boys division with a spectacular 14 under tournament Oak’s first round 64 laid the groundwork for what was to be a special tournament for the 18-year-old Oaks made only two Bogies across all three rounds with his last coming on the 11th hole of his second round Oaks led by five Strokes heading into the final round and tied the bow on his Masterpiece the 4 under 68 he claimed the hickcock Cup by an astonishing eight Strokes I felt like I was just able to really just never let off the gas all week um and just being you know obviously the champion of my home state in a tournament like this feels awesome an extra bonus for this year’s championship Oaks has earned a spot in the field at the 2024 us Junior Amateur championship at Oakland Hills Country Club Pittsford Owen Corby finished as the runner up to Oaks with a 6 under tournament he went 71 7069 for a total of2 0 Danny Wy grabbed solo third with a 5 under tournament which led the age 16 flight Dante Bron and Jackson Cerrone each turned in two under tournaments to finish tied and fourth brayen doc was the final player in red numbers going 72 74 69 closing out his tournament at one under the 61st New York State 18 and under Girls Junior Amateur Championship featured a field of 45 girls 21 golfers made the 18 hole cut by shooting five overpar or better New York City’s Sophia Lee hoisted her second career Betty de cup Lee who won the 2022 tournament at Soaring Eagles prevailed in a tight back and forth battle with reigning Champion Jordan L Lee was the only player in the junior girls field to finish under Park she stayed consistent throughout the three rounds posting a 72 7171 line after levit made three birdies to commence her final round Lee found herself down five shots timely birdies on 11 and 14 and an eagle on 12 shot Lee into the lead and allowed her to Prevail over levit levit who recently committed to play at Notre Dame finished at even par Lee was the runner up to levit in last year’s tournament at the lake classid club and the Rivalry between the two friends continues to grow playing with her is always really amazing and cuz she’s such a competitive player like it really makes her intense matchups and like also as a good friend and it’s incredible to play in the same group with her Nina Cho LED after 18 holes and finished in third place at four overp par Aaliyah liberat to turned in a final round 70 to round out the podium with a five over tournament four players finished tied in fifth place including Delany AEL sisters Emily and Alex Fung and Madison Chen
