good morning from copper Square in downtown Phoenix Arizona my name is Darren Sutton alongside David ronley and we’re honored you’re with us for what is the final day of baseball’s most unique showcase most historic showcase Perfect Games National Showcase in the year 2024 it’s a couple of games today it certainly is well past the drills and the skills although we’ll tell you about the athletes that stood out but it’s a chance again to simulate a game for pitchers but then it’s important for the hitters it’s important for the Defenders and David as we take a look at Team purple I’m going to throw you on the spot right away pick one you want to watch play as we go through about four pages well Bren B ranked 44th in the country is a big long classic power guy with the with the power body I want to see him get hold of one today we and we’re going to see Jack mccurnin on the mound to start for team purple he’s a highly ranked pitcher out of Texas velocity and touch and feel that he should be a fun one and then okay who are we going to go with last year by the way I like justice D young out of New York now you I was going to go with Ethan henkins cuz Ethan henkins can put up some very very impressive exit velocities yeah this is a fun view as we take a look we’ve loved our RF cam we’ll introduce you to Fresno California’s in Texas commit Trey Morris he’s out of Washington High School you know you’re good if you’re inside perfect games top 200 this is a big opportunity don’t underestimate a guy like Morris how much he’s been thinking about this day yeah especially because I he miss all of last year um I I I apologize I don’t know the background on it he was a 2021 14U select Festival player had a strong 2022 miss last summer so he’s he’s coming back and and reintroducing himself to the perfect game Scouts in the the baseball world and I hope he throws well yeah good for him you mentioned that that ranking is has stayed steady missing some time he’s at Washington High he plays for troski his travel team and I do recall our time with him back in 2021 you and I get a get a chance to call each year the 14 you select Festival can I publicly invite you back am I allowed to do that you certainly can I would I would solicit it beg for it as matter of fact I love that game I love being around those kids cuz that’s that’s the age at 14 where they really start having some awareness of what they’re doing they’re not little kids anymore they’re starting to think they’re adults and so right away we are often running and Mercer Hudson moves to the top of the order of all the things that changed around he was a little bit further down to start things yesterday Hudson a catcher and he’ll catch in the seventh and the eighth inning but an opportunity for Mercer to get in there and swing the bat merus out of Midland Georgia top 50 catcher in the country Brookstone High School East cob Astros his travel team as he lifts that one off off to the right side where a ran well catcher how about a catcher that runs a 6760 that’s that stands out it may not put you in the top five or five or eight at this event though we’ve had some Blazers as catchers and catchers are getting a lot of attention right now I think I’ve mentioned on earlier broadcast we we came into this National Showcase with no firm idea whatsoever which catchers were going to end up being playing in the All-American classic and I haven’t been party to the conversations downstairs very much but I think it’s still very much up in the air how about that folks New York City open auditions to Hamilton that’s a about what we’re talking about as that one hugs the line and up the line it goes and bruan agbayani unable to make the play that time though there wouldn’t have been a play for an out that’s an infield single yeah we’ve seen catchers Peter meran running a 65 51 Presley Corville running a a 637 as a primary catcher catchers are athletes Cade kiz digs in and we’re picking up yesterday’s game from the bottom of the order then back to the top and that’s why we go in that order here in the first inning to to allow these hitters David to get their bats that they didn’t finish with yesterday correct yeah that’s you the ideal situation is every hitter in the lineup has the same number of bats over the course of the 20 innings in the two games that might be four at bats it may be five at bats it just depends on you know how things iron themselves out in the games love watching Kate play been able to call a couple of his games he plays for the East cob Astros a top 33rd baseman in the country and this is a Georgia Tech commit so Danny Hall thinks a lot of his work excited to see what his senior year holds and what the rest of his summer holds as well flexed a bit from The Outfield Kade through 92 mph during the Outfield drills rolls that one to the right side the lines are the thing how about that defensive play I like that that is some kind of pretty that’s Luke crck who by the way he’ll be out there all day long took a turn stepped on the bag and fired a strike and he almost had no choice but to step on the bag and that’s a nice play by CR cuz he’s coming off the bag he didn’t come very far off the bag some first baseman will go another step that might have crept down the right field line if he’d got a little further off what a great play and these are the moments where I think we would say about a showcase game as Nico Soul takes a strike at 91 milph hey the Showcase games are for the pitchers but that first baseman out there just proves why they’re for the Defenders too well they’re for everybody uh one one thing I’m looking forward to cuz i’ we’ve seen so many of them is we’ve seen some pretty nifty double plays over the last couple days and now double play is great keeps the game short it’s an exciting play the more double plays the better as far as I’m concerned double plays and triples are probably my two favorite plays oh who doesn’t love a good triple the left-hander freeze his soul with a fast ball at 91 mph moris very comfortable out there on the mound to start things some uncomfortable contact and then some very very good defense behind him for a double play and effect fast ball that was set up very nicely high ride up in the zone just getting warmed up with our cup of coffee here at PG National [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] one [Music] [Music] [Music] more players to introduce you to pick one D you got one on that list Brun agbayani was so good in Jupiter last year fun to see how much he has improved his game since last October he played up certainly and he was young there how about on page too who grabs you Mari magana has had a great showcase ranked 55th in the country from bradoock high school he’s been really really good that pinski name is tied to AJ pinski Austin had a base hit yesterday and we’re looking at a good pitcher on the mound his name is Jack mckernon or Jack Jack as he is called for you Incredibles fans and you can see the resume it’s a good one number two Lefty in the land yeah Cru uh school craft the number one Lefty mckernin checks in at number two although weeps had had some very good left-handed pitchers come out of lower in the rankings and really assert themselves here in the last couple days at Chase Field Miller takes low and inside and pting an opportunity yesterday to go to work this is a talented two-way player he’ll pitch by the way in the seventh and the eighth inning we’re looking forward to that pyton from Phoenix Mar he’s a Clemson commit third baseman by trade as he lifts that one fouled off to the right side he’s down at IMG which is down in Florida he’s 18 years old which puts him maybe on the oldest side heading into his senior year pretty fast ball or I should say a slider that just wrapped around that outside corner at 87 yeah that being old an older for your class it’s kind of that double-edged sword I think the college coaches really like it because just implies that you’re going to be more mature when you get to campus Pro Scouts on the other hand like them young so they have spend more time in development Miller slightly open stance as he wags that bat and that fast ball Up and Away at 92 mph mccurtain the son of Dawn and John and he is a twin and his assist he claims is his biggest fan I’m sure that goes day to day that’s wonderful to hear that kind of relationship and the fraternal twins his grandfather is inspiration he says I get my competitive Spirit from him a mccaran a 14-year NFL veteran and All Pro Super Bowl winner SEC broadcaster as well Jack was small when he came into this world a premature birth of preey he said I was monitored for the first six months of my life just a little bit over three lbs as he thres a fast ball over the outside corner 92 mil an hour the only thing that’s monitoring him now are radar guns behind home plate and they’re consistently saying 9293 and mckernon looks like he’s not that fun of a that bat whether you’re right-handed or left-handed there’s a lot of moving Parts he’s hiding the ball kind of kind of Herky jerky and if you can control that and add that deception while still throwing quality strikes I think going really benefit you I think we might add a little cross up there and there is Austin pinski I’m sure father AJ is in the stand somewhere I saw him walking around yesterday does he look like he can still play okay I mean yes I guess there’s one player in hey a you know I mean no respect by that I mean you’re a catcher you’ve lived your life you are in good shape but I the only person I R that I that I feel like I say that about is Reggie Sanders okay whenever I run into Reggie Sanders I think okay why are you built better than the current Major Leaguers so AJ you are in good shape but who wants to catch in their 40s like no one wants to do that rolled to the right side it was tying up Evan henin unable to make the play so pinski is on a couple of Runners on base yeah when I think of AJ pinski I think about Dr Phillips High School in 1994 I remember sitting sitting in the stands right there next to Disney with then Astros general manager watching pinski play he ended up being a third round pick in signing out of high school that year and he was certainly on the Houston Astros map boys he had a great Major League career a world championship with the white socks and and we’ll close the book off on that as we see AJ Terry out of New Jersey dig in but great content creator now great color analyst on Fox is with foul territory along with Scott Brawn and many others they do a great job online wonderful content creator and a think tank around baseball the job they do as Terry takes over the inside corner one and one the count AJ’s in North Carolina commit top 75 Short Stop in the country in the current rankings just turned 18 as he rolls it foul does Terry plays for the dirt bags National travel team where John Walker is a fun and talented head coach hit hard David you’ve enjoyed your double plays at this event enjoy that one there’s another one nice job by the shortstop especially coming across the bag hard and under control but Taylor Made double play 463 and that will take us to the second inning Darren [Music] get [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] David and Darren glad to have you hanging out with all of us we’re getting to enjoy the work of Trey Morris there’s AJ pinski he’s creating content right now he’s hosting a show right there from his phone me and the foul territory crew they’re fun they’re kind of a daily need if you’re a baseball fan and a great relationship with perfect game all with f territory having a a young PG athlete as a guest very regularly so thank you guys Scott Braun good job with all you have built there John ster let’s get back to the top of the order John middle infielder but he’ll also play right field in this game arieta Georgia 643 and he Pros group do a great job that travel team Florida state is his commitment Trey Morris the left-hander son of Randy and Stephanie misses down and in dad went to Fresno State Randy Morris football and baseball as a Young Man mom a softball player got him to bite on that fast ball up I’ve always wondered with the players from north side of Atlanta Pope high school where perfect game runs all the big tournaments out of East cop whether the players that live there sometimes might not feel a little bit apprehensive about it all their friends from across the country whether New Jersey or Texas California Minnesota they get to travel all summer the guys who live in Georgia just go to sleep in their own bed and it’s like hey a normal day now when do we play today and they don’t get that excitement of being a 16 17y old and say hey Mom I’ll see you in two weeks I’m going down to Atlanta I have multiple thoughts on what you’re talking about you know that the parent in me has a thought the former athlet in in in me has a thought there are benefits to sleeping in your own bed for sure as an athlete and having mom greet you when you come home with your favorite meal hopping in your own shower where you understand how it works and connecting with your buddies maybe going to your favorite restaurant if you drive and you’re local maybe you can even take on some shifts and have a part-time job I get it both ways I remember the first first road trip I went on was a on a 13-year-old Allstar team and my parents got mad at me cuz I basically ignored them for a week you know they travel to this and support me and all and I was so into being by myself and with my buddies little maybe broken bat right there no maybe about it unfortunately that’s speaking of parents that’s a sound parents don’t like hearing oh very bad sound very bad sound it hurts you right right in the wallet so you were a bad son on that trip oh yes I I’m sure in retrospect I’m sure I was a bad son and they made made sure I knew it good for them Josh Gibbs he doesn’t want to wait around he’s a Georgian he’s an East cob Astro man and by the way that ball was driven in into the corner now was 92 off the bat but that ball I’m going to guess on his high school Fields a homer yeah that Josh KBS is a power guy that body does not look like a power body but he swings hard he has some of the best raw bat speed in this 25 class and that doesn’t surprise me at all that he got it that far he plays a lot of games at East cob and you put that on field one at East cob that is definitely in the trees gosh that was a pretty swing Terren Bowen also an East cob Astro now he is an Oklahoma State commit you guys have found him inside of the top 50 in rankings David at 41 as a middle infielder Alexander high school and a 656 60 a couple of days ago through 88 from The Outfield 85 across the infield that’s a pretty pitch at 91 inner half there are a lot of East cob Astros on this team and we’ve seen that with other teams I think there was a team that it seemed like the wild Factor roster in in be but that not by coincidence or accident you know different teams have different schedules they have a choice of when to come but they’re still going to have to face the top pitchers in the country and a nice outing there from Young Mr Morris expound because I know you were excited to see him I I hadn’t seen him for a while you know we we said him mention last year and you want to see how the arm arms come back he 91 he looked like he had really nice command of it threw some some good sliders and really put the ball where he wanted I like that little hesitation in his delivery too it’s like okay I’m gathering I’m gathering I’m under control and I’m putting the ball where I want the metrics told us he had good ride on his fast ball difficult to deal with and good command as well to the middle of the second we go [Music] [Music] [Music] one [Music] [Music] Alan barrero starts things and takes the first pitch up and in talented Puerto Rican athlete standing 6 feet 6 in tall ranked inside the top 300 and uncommitted Herrero left fielder will pitch the final inning of this game 93 up gets a swing and a miss from alen yeah we’re talking about Trey Morris and how smooth he was calm Paws over the rubber McCaron full hand overhead fast arm Herky jerky hitter’s not seeing the ball very well and 93 is getting on on people and Mur also throwing that slider really hard he’s thrown 85 87 mph sliders and they still have some depth it’s not like a cutter type pitch it’s a it’s a full Breaking slider that was his is evident as you’re talking about barrero tough time responding to that pitch a moment ago David Perez a nice play in foul territory in the third base side first baseman Luke kraic now kic outside of the seventh and the eighth inning will be out there at first defensively the entire game Virginia native East Carolina commit dirt bags his travel team some kind of strong listed 62 235 post to one of the top exit velocities at 103 during the hitting drills this one on the ground though again uncomfortable contact and a an easy chance Terrence Bowen the second baseman these are almost like Cricket swings protecting the wicked just trying to trying to get the barrel to the ball and not really a lot of effort by either hitter this inning to really drive it which is a tip of the cap to the man on the mount as Jaden Nunes sees if he can top that Miami Florida FTB scout team North Carolina commit again little Chopper foul third base line goes to Dural Academy his head coach there Ralph Suarez show me a change up Mr mccar you did you asked for it you got it 81 and it fluttered away like a butterfly yeah that was his first effort at a change up and often you know first time you throw a curveball or a change up it’s a fi pitch might take a pitch or two to get that feel so he goes up and away with a change up then comes back inner half 92 about a half a foot a run on it too Jaden the son of Alex and ingred and very proud of his Dominican heritage has a chance to visit his grandparents every single year in the Dr that hurt Dallas Brooks is the catcher there and there’s always the built-in risk playing in a game like this whether you’re hit by a pitch or you take a foul tip and as an evaluator for for you David as an announcer for me that’s my least favorite part of showcase games is I want everyone to feel 100% every minute you know his his thigh is not going to feel 100% for a couple days cuz he caught that one square where he had no padding I wonder how Mason Brawn is doing today that’s funny you would mention that hit a couple of times in the high 90s by fast balls in the shoulder blade area same exact spot with a 94 and a 97 I guess there were pictures of that uh making the rounds in social media and the stitching on his shoulder I’m hoping he’s okay yeah because he did not come back and play and he did not look very comfortable as none of us would after being hit in the same spot twice pitch down and in two and two the count to Nunes that’s mckernan’s first 94 that he’s grabbed at least that I’ve noticed nun big Rafael for call fan you folks remember him really athletic diminutive infielder Big Arm pretty good power big arm and could fly Big Arm he was one of these like a sea Dunston or Ken cametti that when he got a ground ball he wasn’t just going to lob it over there and hit the first baseman in the chest he was going to throw it through the first baseman or a Blaze Alexander dare dare I say Blaze Alexander Diamondback’s infield yeah he’s made it all the way here two and two the count swung right through that one I got to think he got crossed up there I know there’s life on it it moved I think it’s the life really because I was just about to make make the remark that one of one of the the ways you can you know tell what a a pitcher whether a pitcher is throwing a a soft fast ball an easy to catch straight fast ball or whether there’s a lot of late movement is just watching The Catcher And and the catcher is really struggling to catch regular 92 2 mph fast balls and that translates to me watching oops there we go with the bat everybody okay we kind of have a video game start to this thing bats and baseballs everywhere that’s okay but no runs on the board not yet not yet we’ve got 94 from this left arm Julia Mar Campos is from Puerto Rico he is a Missouri kit Catcher by trade if you ask him about his goals over the next year he said I want to improve everywhere physical strength more athleticism mental strength as well be consistent on my pop time in games as well work on my arm and don’t strike out much those are some of his goals as he rolls that one out towards second base I tell you a lot to like about mccaran and what he flexed on the mound bright future huh very bright future and he came in as the number 34 ranked player in the country the number two left-hander and he held serve so to speak that was a fine performance [Music] one Dallas Baptist awaits the arrival of this right-handed pitcher he is committed to coach Hefner his name is Max Lara he is out of Matthews North Carolina about 172 years old goes to Weddington High School when he does hit he’s a left-handed hitter for his high school team but he’s all about pitching not hitting right now uh he used to be all about hitting I actually had Max in a showcase the 2023 Sunshine Atlantic Coast showcase he came to as a primary third basement and that was a showcase it was supposed to be outside and we got just horrific rain on Saturday morning we scrambled we got inside a a local facility where everybody’s cramped in you get to know the kids better and Lara took the mound and was awesome upper 80s 2800 spin rate breaking ball and Craig Kart and I called him over and started talking to him and it’s like uh you like hitting or do you like pitching and he’s like well I like hitting we were like I hate to break this to you but you’re a pitcher and you’re a very good one and you’re going to be able to go to whatever School in the country you want to with your pitching ability but you might as well start thinking about yourself as a pitcher right now and he kind of looked at us kind of sideways like okay and that’s of course the way it’s turned out and talented young arm with up to 92 and that breaking ball is still a weapon funny D when when you look at him here right it’s 61 but very high-waisted and has the limbs and legs of a guy that’s more like 6364 so you can feel that Wings span which is good for a pitcher yeah no doubt it’s it it’s a it’s a build you know that watching with your eyes does more than looking it on paper certainly he he did swing in the exit velocity testing and he did show a 97 mph exit velocity as a hitter so he’s held on to and clung on to one little part of that hitting as he faces Evan henkins who’s out of Virginia and a Tennessee commit goes to work at 91 mph in the dirt henkins will play first base the entire day team a lead his travel team and Boris does such a great job with that group Georgia based 92 fouled it back and L rag with such a fresh arm he’s a guy you can see getting to Dallas Baptist where everybody ends up throwing harder at Dallas Baptist and keep adding to his arm strength and usaga pretty pretty young 17 years 6 months henkins as he digs in as a left hand hitter has a high school coach who is a great left-handed pitcher as he swings through that one good curveball nice job sticking with it and it’s turned in two and out that time Julia Omar compost Works behind the plate just to finish the thought Billy Wagner is Evan Henkin High School coach the man who should be going to the Hall of Fame soon coaches at the Miller School in Virginia and that that that I love it when I hear stories like that about ex players we have Ryan Mitchell up one of the top middle infielders in the country country the number seven overall shortstop very live body athlete fun to watch Play Short Stop on defense he’s from Tennessee he’s an East cob asro Georgia Tech you saw that on the graphic awaits his commitment son of Ralph and Tiffany Hayden his older brother pop into the catcher M 91 mph and 21 in of induced vertical break that’s nice you know the the quote average in the the vertical induced break would be considered to be between 14 and 17 that’s kind of a what what Vinnie Cino always refers to as the dead zone fast ball and when you start getting higher than that that’s when you’re really getting the ride on your fast ball and it’s coming in higher and hotter than the batter would respect and it’s 21 in there it’s that that pitch that appears it has the appearance of almost looking like a rise ball for you softball fans more than anything it just hangs on as it gets to the plate got the outside corner call that time Mitchell goes down on strikes 23 in there of of ride who’s your r wanted that outside corner you could see he just missed with a pitch before he was going to get that outside corner and not back down and he got it there nice job of framing by the catcher as well well I’ve enjoed getting to know Justice dong for for many years he lives in New York as in the city he goes to poly prep Matt roventini his coach at Poly preppy plays for wow factor he’s a Duke commit Shu and Lily his parents a younger brother is Maverick but during the pandemic and a time in which we stri tried to stay connected to our young athletes this was a man always willing to share his story about how he was being creative in New York continuing to play baseball where it was really tough as the breaking ball is high things like city parks and parking garages became his best friend yeah some of the stories you got out of these young men after the Pand mic I know we would talk about them on air continuously at at different events and and it was a testament to creativity and opportunism and whatever I can do to try to make myself a better you know the different ways that people lifted weights the different ways that you know people kept their arm in shape tall athlete 63 but he looks taller than that when you walk up on him justice has stayed athletic though which to me is a challenge got right below the knees and a nice job presenting that pitch there thank you Mr compos yeah jul Mar Campos has done a nice job framing he got that outside fast ball to Mitchell and did a real good job of catching it properly and stole one right there I’ll just be quite Frank about it the young a really good student and a couple of AP classes per semester hey we haven’t seen the really good breaking ball from Lara yet we’ve seen 92 mostly to spots let’s see if we see the good breaking not yet is that Rising riding fast ball Justice wisely had no interest in it the young Zing I I’ve grown the most as a hitter this year gives a lot of credit to Jason lewitz his hitting coach Jaylen Fox will run out there at first by the way outside Campo said he one of his goals was to be consistent in his pop times and games let’s see if he gets a a chance right now Fox a 65 runner at first base so could be going here with two outs Justice holds that bat High swing and a miss that time electric fast ball it may be 91 92 but boy it’s got all the things that you want to make a hitter uncomfortable that ride at the plate can you say rise ball because it kind of looks like one [Music] [Music] h [Music] [Music] [Music] Evan phoh from Austin Texas he goes to Vandergriff High School where Jared hickl is his head coach and talented enough to get the invite to be a part of the can’s national team met scout team Jeff Betty rules the world there and does a wonderful job and he’s an old Mis commit meet Evan frell folks Evan frell his goal Darren you said is to gain 20 lbs this year yep I I have some recommendations on how he could do that but uh and that’s a great goal to gain a good weight 65 185 pounds so there’s a lot of room there to add positive weight to add strength he thinks a lot of his older brother who has served as a bit of a pace car he is committed and an athlete at Houston Christian now but as as a younger man his brother had some physical surgical issues he had to go through and well his Drive is determination and his athleticism certainly means a lot a pitcher at Houston Christians so now little bro gets his chance to shine under the spotlight of Perfect Games National showcase and the first man he deals with is Kevin Bruno R know from Miami Padres scout team an uncommitted athlete couple of Select festivals in Mr Bruno’s resumee 202113 U and 20224 U just turned 17 years old so very young for this class drops that back shoulder and hits a high fly ball to left field hanging up nicely out there for Eric Hines to make the play looking into that Chase Field roof [Music] air conditioning working great by the way underneath the roof where today in Phoenix Arizona they’re they’re warning folks to be careful by the time the athletes leave here to probably be about 115° outside certainly not the hottest day I’ve ever experienced in Phoenix but a lot of those hotter days I was experienc them outside and that became miserable Diego josou Cruz Miami of Ohio commit plays for the upstate Mavericks from Puerto Rico that was a nice change up right there 13 in of horizontal break 85 mph did a really good job of maintaining the arm speed on that pitch shook his catcher off twice what’s he want to throw fast ball 91 right there at the bottom of the Zone tremendous location for Pharaoh on that pitch now number seven Mas chilot working along with him in the pitcher catcher dance behind home plate Liam maruch Toledo commit Midwestern man out of Illinois takes strike one over the inside corner that’s a good breaking ball Masa chil cut one of the more animated catchers you’ll see he’s very involved moves around a lot communicating with his pitcher into every pitch arich plays his travel ball for the celosi Sparks group Dominic his coach that one taken right out of the catchers men and fouled off that time Chad and Ellen or I should say Eileen his parents his guy Illinois guy Cubs days going back a a half decade his guy’s Anthony Rizzo he loved watching Anthony Rizzo play Swing in the Miss and even Anthony Rizzo would not have liked dealing with that curveball I don’t care who you are that’s no fun for a hitter yeah that’s a nice three- pitch mix there from pharaoh and most importantly three pitches and was throwing them to his spots that makes it hard for the red hitters there’s that nice breaking ball for strike three in the inning [Music] [Music] [Music] away [Music] [Music] fan of the game right that’s why you’re watching fan of the future of the game so thanks for being with us and talking baseball loser aaga again pitching is owned the day early on and some pretty wicked stuff kin and Pharaoh have combined to stack up five strikeouts lar Raga looked really good in his first time out through the the run two a couple of strikeouts and a fly out to left David yeah and just showing good stuff I haven’t seen the real nasty curveball that that I’ve seen before from him I should also point out about Max luera is if you did a top 10 list of students here at Chase Field amongst the 320 Fine Young baseball players Max Lera might be in the top 10 on the student list really he four 4.6 with a 1470 sat do it Max look at that smart is cool now I don’t know if anyone knew that out there but smart is actually cool now I’m glad I’m glad to hear you say that I mean you’re You Reach Out And Touch all these kids you you get to know them you get to know your the families and there have been times I think in The Not So recent past where smart wasn’t cool no no no no no no no way smart is cool better baseball player if you’re smart there’s so many more things you can do big strong Tuscaloosa Alabama man Eric Hines has to bend at the back and get out of the way top 150 player and again strong did I say that multiple times East Coast socks has Trav team he’s staying home he is committed to go to the University of Alabama and why not good fast ball with ride at the plate swinging a Miss but that’s that same kind of fast ball he featured last inning that kind of has the invisible effect and then it gets a swing like that on a breaking ball you said his numbers spin pretty high high in the past on the break I know they are on the fast ball up upper 2000s okay and I really miss not having the spin rate on the board I still I like spin rate better than I like vertical and horizontal that one is rolled foul I don’t mind saying that at all and we just don’t have we’re keeping track of it down on the field the oldfashioned way with a radar gun don’t you have a login or something we can get you know people you’re you’re really super important like tell tell one of those fancy Scouts down there they get us a log in and we’ll open up a page actually Mike faren yesterday were and I were trying to get into that cuz he has access through all the the Diamondbacks you know program and back doors and everything and he couldn’t even find the way to do it sure just forget that you heard that Dbacks one and two the count puppy the nickname for Eric Hines does not look like one and that’s that’s where strength win right I mean you can hit a ball out into the seats or you can be strong and do that you maybe get fooled a little bit but the hands stay back and it’s a base hit yeah that was a that was a great job of hitting and we haven’t seen a lot of great jobs hitting yet in this game but maybe that will get the ball rolling this is Nathan ice Felder he’ll play left he’ll play right he’ll play center in this game Jonesboro Tennessee and he’s a Tennessee Commit This East cob Astro a big cut right there just looking at ice felder’s BP notes multiple multiple 102 104s in batting practice had a couple home runs as well so this is a a power approach and that swing looked like a power swing and that’s a power popup that’s going to stay up there for a while does third baseman have a play yes he does that’s a nice play too you hang with that one as long as he did AJ Terry turns it into an out okay I got the stopwatch on this let’s see how H long it stays in the air 6.69 that’s a big league popup anything over 6 and a half is like a way to project power cuz if you can hit the ball there we go that high and it is extremely rare like rare to the degree of you probably see more 100 mph fast balls to see anything over 7 seconds he was almost there he was getting close but I mean I’ll go years without getting a 7 second of course use without seeing 100 mph fastball at this level too but good pitch in on the hands 89 this is Dominic Stevenson just outside of Atlanta Georgia East cob Astros Georgia Tech commit th is at Harrison High School up there and swiping a bag Eric Hines with that stolen base Dominic the son of Danielle and Shawn has loved watching Patrick Bailey catch in the major leagues he says and I quote athleticism behind the plate that’s how I aspire to continue to evolve as a catcher like a guy like Patrick Bailey has Giants catcher andc stayed alone rolled out toward third skips away how far away the recovery the throw far enough away to allow the base runner to reach little too hot that time for Terry 95 off the bat number S I love the Patrick Bailey reference because that’s a young man who within maybe 30 40 games of becoming a big league catcher was already being talked about as one of the best defensive catchers in the in the game he got immediate respect after getting called up Vegas in the Batters box in the hole 0 and one this is brighten Bull Las Vegas Nevada Las Vegas High School coach Thomas the head coach there an old misc commit Brandon and Stacy his parents I highlighted bull when we were looking at the lineups cuz it’s just it’s serious power it’s a it’s as good a raw power as any player here and yes the the levers are a little long 65 190 lbs but when he gets into one it it stays hit I love that he’s at Vegas High School Las Vegas high school that’s where Bryce Harper all be at a shorter High School career went to high school and Brian’s well aware of that watch us from afar Bryce Harper very closely three and one the countable despite the height you talk about how tall he is with those longer levers he’s really focused on his speed doing the best he can to get faster trying to cut down swing and miss too as a hitter swings through that one 89 just doesn’t play 89 from this right-hander if that makes sense to you folks out there one sense is that Lara knows that his fast ball has some special qualities to it cuz he uses it confidently I expected him to throw a more breaking balls based on what I’ve seen from him in the past but no he has a lot of confidence in that pitch and for good reason put a runner out there I’ll just go ahead and put a runner at third instead of moving everyone up I like that idea yeah that’s well done John ster hey you guys don’t run to me I’ll just come to third we’re in the third base Dugout work smart not hard couple of strikes on brighten bull still got him there’s that fast ball and he chases up there again is where there’s 89 and then there’s that 89 that 89 that comes with 24 in of vertical that’s as high a number as I think we’ve seen the last 5 days Darren 24 in and you can see it that ball just it never came down it started in Bull’s eyes and it stayed there and that’s a hard pitch to to pass especially with two strikes and he opens up with a curveball to David Perez I can see that curveball becoming a low 80 slider about two workouts Into The Fall season at Dallas Baptist West Virginia K David he’s from Philadelphia goes over the top of that one and quite an outing again for Lera the stuff plays really big it it plays big and I was I was really happy with that last pitch cuz that was his best breaking ball we kept talking about the fast ball the fast ball that plays well at 89 as well as 9293 but to take the next step usaga is going to have to Corral that curveball and he flashed it there at the end young man I’m going to follow closer than most when he gets in the college scene [Music] [Music] keep [Music] [Music] so when you take all of these athletes and put them in in one basket and look at their commitments at the national showcase this is what you see you see a lot of a lot of Texas that’s for sure I’m curious how some of these are going to change you know in the next month or before Signing Day you know which isn’t until November cuz you know there’s still a little coaching Carousel action going on number eight or eight there South Carolina with Paul maner and obviously with Texas and Coach snagle yep those are the Elite of the elite schools and it makes sense that they have the elite of the elite players coming to play for them f finishes up his warm-up tosses and the right-hander out of Austin Texas speaking of Texas is ready to go Joseph dusel out of Elgen Illinois athletes HQ his travel team he takes one that skips into the dirt your first pitch change up th multi-position guy left-handed pitcher as well plays in the Outfield when he’s got a bat in his hands dos the outside corner ran well when he was tested ran a 6660 do 88 from The Outfield but open some eyes with his exit voo of right at triple digits right around 100 milph and on my scorecard I have him throwing the ninth inning for the red team so we’ll see the young man on the mound later on breaking ball dots the outside corner leaned on one Homer yesterday tough to do at this event they don’t happen very often by the way at the 17u wwba he pitched really well for athletes HQ swinging a miss and down he goes baroh sort of throwing the opposite of what Lera did with the fast ball that was a bowling ball 10 in of horizontal just that heavy heavy Sinker take another look at that yeah that’s just that’s a bowling ball up there 90 mil an hour just like Lara’s 90 played up that 90 from Pharaoh is playing up because it is so heavy so much late life to it Ruan agbayani lices that one the other way 99 and a half let’s Round Up 100 mph off the bat for the Hawaiian agbayani in the base hit that was loud Darren that was squared up and you know some balls just come off louder and that was the May Pro definitely the loudest contact of this game so far Ruan goes to St Louis School Milani mauka Hawaii is where he lives and of course Benny OG by Yanni everyone knows him pretty well especially if you’re a Mets fan he was for about a half decade Bel loved as bruan is out at first Dylan Atkins behind him Benny by the way is his coach now at St Louis School look at that hustle and bounce behind the plate I love that chill cut you talked about his energy nice job there’s all sorts of C national cross Checkers West Coast cross Checkers celebrating this year because Hawaii’s got a nice class you’re going to get to go to Hawaii and see egg bayani go see MOSI mat of AFA aleros the fine left-handed hitting Middle infielder with a cannon of an arm oh it’s going to be really easy to get that Hawaii trip on your expense account there this year that one’s lifted foul and into the seats you know what I think for perfect game TV we we probably need to get there and do some features good call David I’m sure some of our fine Southern California based videographers and directors would be glad to accompany you perfect trip for Tanner and Taylor one and two the count rolled out toward short m shuffles over and gets the lead Runner that’s all they’ll get but a nice job athletic play by Ryan Mitchell the short stop yeah really never had a chance for two on that hit in the hole and Mitchell got rid of the ball quickly Mario see that right there throwing off that back foot not the perfect feed but it got the out Miami Zone Mario magana the commit to go to Miami as well FTB his travel team already a state champion in high school a 4.2 student in the classroom and he wants to keep that up this year had some choices Texas recruited him Florida recruited him enjoyed his experience with the Florida Gators came down to his family being close he wanted his family to to watch him play and relationship with Miami strong enough plus the Family Ties that’s why he chose it but he he enjoyed most of his stops on the recruiting visit but family that’s why he made the decision chil cut doing a nice job there behind home plate Farah with his diet of heavy fast balls he’ll bury looked like he tried to bury a curve ball and get Manana to Chase and chill cut was on top of it Manana drives that one toward left field that one is down and it’s a base hit he’ll look for two hustle on around they’ll send the runner on around to the plate Mitchell on a hop with the tag mosa thought he might have popped it on his bag looks right back up an instant run down and uh premature slide that one turns into an out kudos to Manana a beautiful swing of the bat and then of course Masa behind the play turning it into an out in the end that ball was solid roped into the Gap butan was going to have a double regardless I don’t know about that Darren I I agree w [Music] [Music] by [Music] [Music] The Baltimore Sun the great publication put together their all Metro Baseball team this year right at the top of the list was this man his name is Nathan wies he is from Millersville Maryland Archbishop Spalding High School Joseph Palumbo his coach there he plays for TJ h of the Mid-Atlantic Red Sox TJ hosy and an East Carolina kment but we’ll watch Nathan work together all of us it’s been up to 94 at perfect game events so a strong armed rhander and every time I see an East Carolina commit know East Mike faren and I were talking about this yesterday East Carolina we are assuming Trey yes Savage will go in the first round and the draft next week and that would make three straight years that East Carolina’s had a a pitcher who came into the year without or came into the school without a lot of fanfare end up being a first a draft wow players get better pitchers get better in that East Carolina program and Nathan wies is going to be pretty darn good going to it in the first place Matt mcnight is his first battle and he’s ready for him hits it hard on the ground right behind the mound just next to the second base bag the plays made out there shuffling over here to start things off in the fifth inning Diego josou Cruz with the play now batting Jay what does the fox say we’re about to find out the Samford Florida native Jaylen Fox plays for FTB in the hole 0 and one with a breaking ball good curve ball South Carolina command Hill with the Gamecocks uniform on 89 for a strike Fly ball center field long run still tracking and a nice job out there sticking with it tracking all the way in Dylan Atkins with the play now number two wi’s being extremely efficient what’s that four pitches and two outs brings the plate one Darren’s new favorite player at least favorite player you the player of the moment Masa chill cut who’s really impressed us with his energy behind home plate Yas is uh as a former pitcher and one who is quite flawed and was always invigorated by catchers who cared and who wanted to be there I’m always drawn to catchers that show energy behind the plate look be authentic be who you are as a player but he appears to be authentically energetic and and that’s what I I remember watching him as a a 13-year-old at the 13u national the 13u select festival and and M is the same kid kid at 17 and a 171 months as he was when he was 13 you know he has that Perpetual kid to him always smiling always full of energy outside corner that’s strike three Mr wines little Flex looking very strong out of the gates inning number one a good one I think he threw 100% strikes that inning he ended it on a good one look forward to seeing more of him next inning [Music] [Music] away [Music] [Music] Darren and Dave at perfect game National showcase so this is James vion the right-hander gets the call he’s from Atlanta GA the Maris School Mike Strickland does The Guiding Light work as his basball head coach Georgia Tech coach Hall has earned his commitment and this is a Dean list student in the classroom which made things academically a little bit easier with Georgia Tech so congrats and we’ll see how he takes advantage of this opportunity he gets a a try out in front of a bunch of Scouts and all of you watching oh we we’ve seen them a lot you know being a a north side of Atlanta young man he’s already thrown 24 Innings at PG tournaments 24 Innings 14 Hits 10 walks 40 strikeouts been up to 93 on the fast ball has held hitters to a 171 average so far in 2024 Owen Jenkins readies himself a lot of length on the mound boy you can see that classic pitcher Bill those long arms he fires a fast ball for a strike 90 mph Owen W the count to Owen from versa’s Kentucky Versa Kentucky Midland Redskins his travel team Louisville commit slightly close stance that one’s outside got that Midland Redskins helmet on there when the guys will wear their travel team or their High School helmet here break ball then it’s a ground ball bobbling and recovering a couple of steps of the bag and it’s turned into an out by henin Evan Hankins that a slider VI vikins is has a little different pitching style than most pitchers we see first of all he’s a lot more straight up ni short stride down the mound stays very tall but it’s also very very low effort and that is not Jonathan Colmes right there yes it is you know what I looked at I looked at his hips and his thighs I first saw comes when he was in eighth grade at a regional Showcase in High Point and was he was obviously supremely talented I took a look at him I said I said Son do you also uh play football and he said yes sir and I said are you pretty good and he went yes sir he’s a four-star running back right now being recruited by every school in the country to come play football but he honestly loves baseball a lot of football players this time of year they’ll have already packed it in they’re they’re playing se you know they’re sevens on sevens and stuff and comes has been playing all summer goes down on strikes that time he is really good athlete already has had offers his favorite athletes are Bo and Dion okay heavy look like it dropped down into a well that 12 to six look to it as well getting back to Vikings in his mechanics he’s short stride stay he’s so tall when he releases and that enables him to get over that breaking ball ideally better than most the the long Striders out the drop and drive guys he’s really throwing downhill just creating more angle slide piece right there Victor corado Short Stop third baseman he’ll play everywhere in the infield leans on that one but down off the end of the bat settles into the glove out there in center field of brighten bull who puts it away that’s a one two three inning [Music] [Music] I [Music] away [Music] [Music] [Music] you know you want to hit that QR code and hit it hard because then you can download perfect game TV on your smart TV on your phone on your tablet you can see the streaming part partners and we’re proud of our relationships there but our best suggestion is get the app it’s perfect game TV it’s almost yesterday’s news to visit us online at perfect game.tv get the app watch the game enjoy the game David and Darren and glad to have you back with us here at Chase Field as Dallas Brooks takes the first swinging things Brooks Fleming Hall Mercer Hudson Bon’s good in his inning from bison back to wines yeah wines was very good seven out of eight pitches for strikes easy one two three inning Dar we need to get some offense into this game what happened to those games of earlier in the Showcase when they were 13-10 and 10 to8 and base runners all over the place oh pitchers have ruled the day so far and I think a lot of it to be honest isn’t like the stuff is better now or anything than it was on Monday and Tuesday I think the strikes are better these pctures are really filling it up that’s a great view on Vines when he caught that ball and his arms down his side you get to see how long his arms and legs are that’s a long long arm build hit hard diving attempt just under the outstretched glove boy that was a well struck baseball over 100 milph bruan did all he could get there but agbayani couldn’t make the play and maybe this is the start of a little bit of offense who knows but again when you have a five batter Max though and your pitchers are throwing strikes like all the pitchers have this game it’s awful tough to put together a rally even if you get a couple base hits all of a sudden you’re up to fourth fifth hitter you need those free passes to really score and he runs in a showcase environment and nobody likes a free pass let be honest nobody likes that nobody says Daddy I want to grow up and be a ghost Runner want to know the count to Auburn commit Fleming Hall little bit of Dart and dive there right under the swing of the hands of Hall from Montgomery Alabama goes to Trinity Presbyterian plays for wow factor love Montgomery have an affinity for that fine City breaking ball never got there ouch got him in the guard Square in the elbow guard John stutzer runs by the way David wanted base runners he wanted wall and hits batsman he just wanted more Runners there you go no I kind of want I said before I like double plays and triples okay hit by I do not like hit by pitches here’s the thing David like double play likes double plays and triples I’m going to combine it David may just get a triple play right now let’s see okay that would be exciting wies the right-hander deals a fast ball that jumps outside one and one the count would you prefer a hard ground ball at the third baseman double play or a line drive at the second b or Triple Play excuse me I need to Rocket ground ball to third that one’s lifted left field we may be chasing the runs we want to the wall it goes Fleming hle just left the yard it’s out of here wow wasn’t expecting that one and he went about five or six rows deep the flex for the man out of Montgomery Alabama and there was some doubt there were he almost passed the base the runner at first base and they they were with him 5 10 feet of each other but nice job by the young man he’s happy merer Hudson nice bounce back from wies good breaking ball for strike one but you see how it works around these parts one of the the long serving bosses around here ask for offense look what happens that quickly think rley is not important my goodness it’s as a as if he wrote the script for this inning two and two the count Hudson singled back in the first inning just kind of looking back at Fleming Hall and his track record at perfect game events he’s had well over 100 plate appearances and that’s his first home run what a time to do it hey you do in the same park where Christian Walker hits homers that’s pretty nice that’s pretty impressive I think Christian Walker was facing the Dodgers in Grand Canyon he would be hitting home runs all right that’s enough out of you with that one breaking ball outside corner Hudson goes down on strikes turned the game off last night kid that was a good breaking ball yes I just like the CHR Christian Walker reference cuz back in his PG days he was a prolific PG player I I probably saw him 20 different times really oh yeah and he is so much more athletic than he was when he was 17 he was kind of a a a a dumpy athlete who could just hit and do nothing else and uh he’s made himself into such a better athlete I think anybody who would have said oh he’s going to be amongst the league leaders and home runs 15 years from now you would have got a laugh out of that one but he’s really made himself into really one of the better first basemen in baseball kiz Pops that one up to the right side and would you have said he’s a future gold Glover no definitely would not have said that and he played third base back then and he didn’t play particularly well his position was you know right-hand batter box Nico Soul go ahead and rack that ball the other way Fair ball look at Nico hurrying on around well played out there in left field and it skips on by Nico Soul beautiful piece of hitting that’s the fifth batter to hit in the inning tip of the cap out there to Nico for that approach Mr wines finishes up his work and as he does so quick assessment if you don’t mind let a wies is a a nice loose arm and he’s a strike thrower he got some of those strikes in the middle of the plate and the second inning but it sure worked for him in the first we didn’t see that 94 fast ball that we have seen earlier but I’m sure it’s there but got a lot of threw a lot of pitches to his spot except for that one right there that Fleming Hall left the yard three run home run that gives us a 3 to1 ball game purple over red heading into the bottom of the six [Music] [Music] one yeah [Music] [Music] Mr vion takes the Rock and he rolls the Atlanta Georgia native goes back to work by the Way’s travel team Ken Caldwell’s Atlanta lightning and he had a clean first frame getting Jenkins kums and Coronado now it’s Miller I believe pinski and Terry and it’s Austin pinski actually yeah I think Miller is taking the mound in the top of the seventh he’s probably warming up in the bullpen right now First Academy in Orlando Florida Austin comes up empty with a swing that time he says simply put my senior year Mr Pinsky I want to win a state championship First Academy plays for Power Baseball Orlando base team Toronto Blue Jay Scout team they’ve worked together there what I love about Austin is his other big goal for this year along with baseball work is he wants to be his school’s valedictorian now that’s a goal you can talk about improving pop times or adding 20 lbs or anything being your class Victorian that valid Victorian that’s a four-year goal yeah that means you’re you’re tracking so far you can’t just come up with that no you can’t say hey I I well let’s not count the first two years before I I learned how to study so good for him good for Austin and who he is as a student mom is Lisa we know about Dad AJ and AA his sis is just a touch older at 18 years old high school team reaching the state’s final four this past year won a state championship back in 2021 swinging a miss some good jump to that fast ball as it runs right under the knuckles if you don’t get that pitch way out front this is what’s going to happen got to get the barrel out on that one that’s almost the one that you’re best off getting the barrel out early hit around hit a foul ball and hope to get one over the middle of the plate later AJ Terry ready for it it’s a highfly ball to left got it down off the end of the barrel picked on a slider that was outside so Terry middle infielder played some third early in the game second out of the inning Terry put a good swing on that he just a little bit out front he was the slider sort of hung up there but sort of had the change up effect Alm barrero o and one the count bison doing a nice job of maintaining and even adding the velocity 93 and that’s a lot harder back at him shot out into right field for a single at 100 milph off the bat well those feel good just a bolt shot it through the hole a smile theree luk ktic rounded out back in the second inning Dominic Stevenson bouncing around back behind home home plate bison’s talking about his stuff 88 to 92 spin rate fast ball 24 2500 curveball mid 70s 2600 plus sliders a little bit harder and then a low 80s change up that’s his South scouting aort as Luke hits a high fly ball to center field and it lands in the glove of Brien bull out there who puts that one away so Mr vion his work for today comes to an end James and we ask your assessment well it’s as I said right at the top it’s a little bit different mechanics he’s he pitches so tall short stride out front but it really works for him and he’s one of these young men who really doesn’t throw anything straight gets a lot of run gets some carry and lots of strikes [Music] [Music] [Music] away [Music] [Music] it’s called right-hander had a choice of nearly 20 schools and they all did their best to win his affinity and when it was all said and done pton Miller who is from Phoenix Maryland made the choice and it was Clemson and so for Co backage this right-hander has given his commitment and David he’s not just a pitcher it’s a two-way player yes yes and Eric beage has a history when he was at Michigan uh of using two-way players and I’m sure that’s something that he and pton Miller Miller family talked about during the recruitment process and we think highly enough of Miller to give him two innings here a lot of the secondary pitchers are just going out for one but Miller’s scheduled to see two here in seventh and eighth inning it’s ball games moving along nicely big tall right-hander the son of Shawn and Melissa he was sharing with us they have a a fun family Tradition at Easter and I’m going to share his words he said at Easter we take our dyed eggs and we have an egg battle you pick your egg and on the count of three you crack the end against your opponent’s egg whoever eggs crack the other one wins and advances the Easter egg tradition family egg battle sounds like a wishbone thing with your Thanksgiving turkey John ster back to the top of the order I’ve with that question on the BIOS unlock some really fun and unique answers a lot of times it’s around holidays yeah in fact if you if I had filled out one of those bios I would have given an Easter one too we we had a a a Easter Jelly Bean hunt competition that we had all had all sorts of rules and and everything like that and it was highly competitive I’ve got two highly competitive brothers and and there’s nothing like a jelly bean well the problem came when you’re when you’re hiding jelly beans in a house full of antiques my mother was an antique dealer and then maybe sometime in let’s say August you find a jelly bean hidden somewhere oops forgot about that one let’s be honest out there folks that’s still good eatting swing in a Miss jumps at the plate 91 milph you can just watch a hitter’s reaction and watch their swing and then you peek up at the vertical on the fast ball and rarely are you surprised if you just watch the reaction of the hitter breaking ball hit hard out to the right side 96 milph off the bat Kevin Bruno’s to second baseman number one in that Jersey turns it into an out by flipping it on over to Dylan Atkins Gib Josh Gibbs at the plate and Gibbs and pressed us his first time up lifting a ball almost to the wall and right right field Corner showing big opposite field power and you look at that body and you’re first thing you think is is not power but Josh Gibbs has some of the best power in the class and he takes a big hack you see how he coils his hips there got a kind of a different leg raise often that one he curled more sometimes he’ll take it straight up but he gets wound up and attacks and it’s it’s he’s such a quick twitch athlete drives that one to the second baseman a couple of nice plays over there ranging over by Kevin Bruno that’s a fun approach David that’s that’s a fun study in the Box I mean yeah and in you know for these kids in the north side of Atlanta you know you think of Drew burs who went out this year as a freshman and hit 27 home runs he had that he has that type of Swing approach with the big leg raise it usually is dangerous you know the hyper aggressive swing but when you have the ability to put the barrel on the ball and you swing that hard it’s like with burst you know good things are going to happen and Josh Gibbs cut from the same type of cloth no balls in two strikes to count Bowen so far so good for Miller couple of ground Balls to the right side 93 on that fast ball 13 in of horizontal I think there’s going to be some big velocity there once he gets to Clemson if he’s going to end up pitching a lot watch how early his front side is his front side is so early and if he learns to keep that front side closed a little bit longer and get behind the ball he’s opened that front side early and and the arm is whippy whippy fast and if he gets more body into that that arm that’s just going to tick up the velocity out toward third a chance to flex that arm and a nice stretch at first base fine defensive play out there [Music] [Music] [Music] h [Music] w [Music] this left-hander his name Dylan Singleton his travel team reputable K’s national team New York Mets scout team and so for this left-hander who pitched three innings in the recently WRA 17 New wwba in Georgia and struck out three this is a golden opportunity here this is Dylan Singleton left-handed pitcher also a first baseman he’s from Utah but aend school at PDG Academy yeah Harryman Utah we don’t have a lot of Utah players you we we had uh I was talking on an during an earlier game we had a young man from New Hampshire who Mr horn who went yard and I was talking about how rare a it is for a player from New Hampshire and you talk almost as rare pgd academy by the way PDG my apologies guys you do a great job in Fredericksburg Virginia so he is away from home is Dylan Singleton to grow his baseball career yeah the proliferation ofies not only in Florida but up and down the East Coast in particular has been one of the probably untold stories really in The Last 5 Years really with since the pandemic and and my wife who’s a a longtime teacher talks about the differences in education now that you do so much online learning is that’s line down the left field line lands in Fair territory extra bases for J Jaden Nunes yes yes wasn’t a rocket off the young man’s bat but it was well placed another look at it he’s got out front maybe got jammed a bit but got enough of the barrel on the ball and used to speak nice quick release by the left fielder to get back in Terren bone out there with a nice play I think it got even quick enough in back to Ryan Mitchell he was surprised he had a play when Mitchell caught it what Mar compos from Puerto Rico big breaking ball from Dylan Singleton there that almost acted as a change up as well that was in the low 7s really had him fooled Campos out front I think Academy’s David I think it’s just just the tip of the iceberg too yeah for so long it was it was just IMG and IMG you know going back to its days as it started off as a tennis academy and and sort of picked up other sports along the way but for so long IMG was alone and now it’s to the point where where perfect game is working you has a has aem’s League during the Spring where all these acms come together in East cob and play and we you know we’ve seen pitchers 40 50 Innings this spring pitching in the thismy league I know for a fact they’re trying to build the same kind of and have perfect game help run at the same kind ofmy league and championship in Canada so north of the Border saying seeing similar kind of growth there and I’m not aware I could be very wrong here I’m not aware of any of the same things in the West Coast or in the central part of the United States it seems to be whether by population whether you know the educational requirements and stuff very much an East Coast thing if I was an entrepreneur I would change that but I’m not this is a good spot you could do it here I mean you can you can yes exactly Arizona would be a perfect place absolutely perfect place you know depending on the educa you know the you know there’s there’s there’s rules in education and stuff and but an entrepreneur would work with those good pitch Up and Away gets a commitment on a check swing what around I will tell you just to finish the thought that way you do see in the Phoenix area and I don’t know them all by name but you see three or four maybe more basketball right here that do the same thing that you’re talking about exact yes that now that that that I’m very now the basketballs there are so many of those and I think by definition just the small rosters and stuff but if you look at a top 25 in the country in high school team rankings in basketball I I would guess at least half of those are basketball acmy Bruno hits a highfly ball left field charging on in making the play out there Terren Bowen who made a a nice effort earlier First Steps everything and it was a good one for Terrence so Bruno is erased number two dieg Cruz Diego Jose Cruz did you do the seventh inning stretch last half inning or no I wasn’t even aware okay I just wanted to let you know it came and went it’s over now oh we can’t have it anymore it’s gone I’m used to seven inning games in perfect game so the stretch at the end of the game the game’s over get up how about an RBI for Cruz went down got it down off the end of the bat pretty approach especially considering it was a left-on-left matchup now B number seven lion I think all athletes down there need to always avoid the the challenging temptation of as Jose away Cruz takes off pretty throw did he hang in the air how about that throw come on Mercer Hudson we’re watching your work and a nice job sticking that tag hanging in there real nice tag by Ryan Mitchell there I think he almost fooled the Umpire he had to show him twice take another look at that nice pick we may need a replay again that no no replay onward and upward [Music] [Music] [Music] w [Music] hi Perfect Games National showcase another inning to watch the long limbs the high waist the dream ability of Mr Miller on the [Music] mound yeah I can’t say that pton Miller whose list is a primary third baseman I can’t say just on on short looks at I think his future is going to be on the mound but but if you had to pin me down right now you know I think that’s that’s where I would be leaning cuz there is a lot of arm Talent there and it’s still raw there’s still things you can do with it but he’s still he’s doing things he’s throwing change UPS you know with nice nice run and sink on them he’s up to 93 with the fast ball there’s more there he’s going to be a guy by the time he’s a junior at Clemson who’s going to be throwing 9395 without any question if you want to know who he thinks of himself as an offensive player he said I have a comp offensively and it’s Ryan mountcastle Ryan Mount Castle love it good pitch gets a commitment on a breaking ball he said I believe when I’m right I can hit for power to all Fields we’re talking about Miller who’s pitching mid90s fast ball on its best day and a plus knuckle curve is that one is that plus knuckle curve as as if I was asking for it strike three good morning good evening good night on that that at bat we saw the whole repertoire there’s a there are a lot of players out there who could do a lot worse than trying to be Ryan Mount Castle there may be no hitter in Major League Baseball though that’s more hurt by his own home stadium I’ve seen the a lot of the the FI the analytics for him you know they moved the fences back in Baltimore and boy has that cost some of his power numers but he’s still one of the best hitters in baseball and that Baltimore team of course is amazing couple of strikes on Ryan Mitchell swinging over the top of that one his favorite player out there Miller’s gunar Henderson I think we’re starting to have to take a number on the popularity of gunar Henderson which good for gunner Alabama boy PG Alum two and two the count on Mitchell just missed what do you remember about Gunner I was wrong on Gunner I I remember a good friend of mine who actually is an agent asking me about Gunner saying what do you think of him we’re we we’re having conversations with him what’s your opinion and I said he’s going to be a college guy I don’t think he’s going to be a sign out of high school guy so if you’re willing to wait he could end up being a a guy out of college CU he’s going to get bigger stronger blah blah blah so I was wrong on him and he was and there are different types of yes you’re going to be be a PG All-American and I liking it almost a Jackson holiday Jackson holiday at that point in time at the national showcases a nice fast ball there for Miller gets Mitchell for out number two you know Jackson holiday was not the top player in the country the superstar in July going into his senior year nice job by the catcher there framing that one up catching from the ground up pulling the ball up into into the strike zone help help the umpire’s opinion campost the catcher nice job there but you know Henderson was much like Jackson holiday in that he improved so much between June and July going into his senior year in the spring of his senior year that he he completely changed his identity but even then Henderson was not a first round pick so so to say that all of a sudden at age 23 he’s one of the top five players in baseball is just been a amazingly quick Journey so listening to both of those stories kudos to the Orioles as well oh yeah for their ability to Scout and develop I mean some of the players they’ve drafted they got Colby Mayo in the fif fourth or fifth round I’m a fan of his in 2020 kobby Mayo would be the top prospect in virtually every organization in baseball and he has nowhere to play because he’s I mean he has he’s behind Holiday in the pick pecking order but they they’ve got Henderson and Westburg on the left side of the infield now and you can’t say oh Mayo go over and play first base we got Ryan Mount Castle and Ryan o’n over there and Kobe Mayo PG all Amer PG Lum who’s as big as grunk and plays like a fluid athlete yeah he’s 63 massive 65 250 and he’s the best hitter in myor League Baseball now that one is high and inside it’s interesting you can see how how much Julio maros who’s doing a nice job catching his tighten his glove and tighten his glove and it’s giving him some leather strings and hang off the end but I I think he’s actually ended up beating those those leather strings looks like he one of his Hobbies might be doing doing his mom or his sister’s hair as well with those throw pretty thrill let let’s see if we can get a pop time on that if we can see it again you know compost is very weird he’s talking about getting his game pop times consistent and that was that was going to be good one right there there we get a look at that glove swinging to miss it a pitch down and away he can catch and he’s got a dressed up glove to to show hey by the way it’s Miller time I just thought I’d let you know so help us out please Miller Payton Miller in this case and I like this arm I I I’ll go out there and say I think pton Miller the third baseman who admires Ryan Mount Castle is going to end up as a right-handed pitcher who admires a a fellow member of the pitching fraternity this is going to be a a power arm he’s got three pitch is now and a lot of strikes very talented young man [Music] [Music] [Music] w [Music] and the Pitcher goes back to work for the second inning he induces a swing right away from Liam uch Liam second plate appearance of this game one ball one strike the count David ronsley Darren Sutton perfect game TV the finest players in the land certainly Rising Juniors and this is the final day of competition it’s gone by yesterday was a an incredible day for everyone involved on the p G side the athletes too but it was a 4 game day and for our production team I am blown away with their ability to to do what they do from the morning and till late into the night so kudos to our production team for yesterday’s four game day yesterday I think about that that’s 40 Innings of baseball that’s a lot of that’s a lot of baseball for E even someone like a perfect game Scout who is is conditioned to that almost by the way we run things but our videographers our producers our directors that’s they’re not conditioned to do 40 Innings of baseball so I I completely agree with you great admiration for all these ladies and gentlemen who make make us look good Darren there’s no doubt there’s no doubt it’s a pleasure this is regional sports TV level show we’re giving you for sure as someone who’s done quite a few of those games little change up by the way Miller who pitched two-way player so he’ll hit right now pton Miller he gave up his his at bat in the sixth inning he was down warming up in the bullpen and he’s anxious to get to the plate pounds that one into the ground routine play by this not so routine play by the second baseman Mitchell he young in there though at first nice hings nice adjustment sometimes I think when you’re used to playing short stop you’re used to Cutting Loose on the throw that’s a dangerous play when you move over to second base cuz you don’t know whether you should throw it hard or not or really what to do with the ball it’s like a pitcher getting a ground ball back at him and he doesn’t want to throw it and he’ll toss it underhand bruan agbayani had a pretty pretty swing back in the fourth inning line drive through the five hole a base hit to left field and it was a loud Barrel it’s was a heavy barrel we haven’t talked maybe as much about Dylan Singleton as we should Darren because he’s showing really great feel he’s he’s mixing his pitches he’s been up to 91 I was looking at his performance at the 17u and he was only 8587 the game I looked at there and now he’s out here throwing multiple Innings at really 8991 he’s a nice change we’ve seen some big breaking curve balls that have Frozen hitters it’s on a Brian Singleton his dad played college golf at Missouri State University mom college basketball player at Drury University so great jeans now this is his journey that one sweeps outside to agbayani South Carolina commit shy Town cream his travel team love that group there you go how about that outing tick up in velocity command was great he he got a chance to hop on the stage and he cashed in and remember Dylan Singleton has no College commitment and looking at that stuff that command that Moxy on the mound he can pitch just about anywhere [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] two-way player who already has a round Tripper on his resume here Illinois native Joseph dusel left-handed pitcher but also with a bad in his hands pretty darn good put up some fun metrics overall exit velocity of 99 in the the indoor facility ran a 66 through just about 90 mph from The Outfield so now he gets a chance to to do what he did really really well at the recently wrapped 17 new wwba and that’s pitch he plays for athletes HQ he went in Innings and struck out 12 at that event and here goes Joseph now and like Dylan Singleton uncommitted right now and you think with this kind of two-way Talent you know the tools speak for themselves you said six six Runner 92 from The Outfield performed well at the 17u there’s a lot of tools here and and for whatever reason no College commitment yet well let’s do something about that with an outing I I think as you said with what Singleton did that we may be knowing that by the time we’re having a sandwich at lunch where he’s going to college with the way he played Eric Hines Nathan ice Felder Dominic Stevenson first thing I always always look at when you see a kid who doesn’t have a commitment I go I go to the one of the bio Pages back in the database where GPA and test scores or you know as this the players their parents enter them themselves and for Joseph dustel I see a 4.01 GPA that makes it easier too to to find some support scholarship wise for a coach most certainly there and I’m I’m looking at the notes Here I also see the exit Vel I didn’t see his home run yesterday 108 exit velocity on D’s home run yesterday wow that’s right there with the very top of any game exit velocity that we’ve seen outstanding so now he pitches against a fellow power guy but sets him down Eric Hines goes down on strikes nasty stuff slider 80 M an hour yeah that might that might be the one they call the sweeper that had some real depth to it starts it outside brings it over Hind just sort of a uh I hope I fou it off swing and doesn’t work Iceman now Nathan ice Felder from Johnson City Tennessee the right-handed batter sees things even up at one and one three time most valuable offensive player for his school at Providence Academy and he’s committed to that pitch and goes around I I I can see dle at the next level definitely being a two-way guy I mean he he he’s athletic we we were just talking about how hard he hits the ball it’s a it’s the package there but bring him in as a a lefty reliever in the right places with that breaking ball the right SP spot in the lineup and that breaking ball is going to get Lefty hitters at the college level up right now it’s it’s big it’s sharp it’s hard I’ve been on my soap box for I don’t for decades about why there aren’t more two-way players in college baseball kind of short arm that change up a bit well nil it’s interesting David nil is coming to play but it’s only for the SEL few if you’re going to look at really truly all the programs in college baseball all of them and you think of a a program that’s dealing with those 11.7 scholarships and there could be nothing more valuable than a good student who’s a two-way player who can help you both ways yeah if he can get 50% of his his ride on a academic scholarship that’s that’s wonderful right there ice Felder committed to a place where nil does come into play at times in Tennessee the national champs hey by the way for Nathan too as he earns himself a walk and he’ll send a runner on out that’s John ster again he’s been active running the bases he makes it easy for Tennessee to to find extra scholarship dollars he’s a 4.0 GPA sumacum lad honor rooll end of the year this past year he goes down on strikes that time at ice Felder great player great student too how about this left-hander I I like dle in so many ways he’s he’s he acts like a primary pitcher he’s throwing the ball at the spots he’s got his his obvious swing and miss out pitch in the curveball do you hear any Rumblings you know you do your college show you and Craig Kart you know I know Hunters all wired into Hunter Pence is all wired into college baseball too do you hear any Rumblings about that 117 going to change I mean between transfer portals and N money and coaches getting paid $3 million and stuff the 11.7 seems Antiquated as part of the college game I’ll tell you I don’t yet but here’s what college coaches will say and they don’t say it on the show as that breaking ball is a good one they’ll talk a lot about you know a school that maybe is a power five but not a high dollar power five in Ni but they’ll say their biggest excitement is that they’re able to allow a majority of their roster with nil money to go past that 11.7 if you follow me there yeah oh yeah so they’re not paying their second basem six figures like some schools May the rare but may but they’re saying hey I’ve got 20 plus guys on the roster and they’re all on a full ride because of nil does that make sense oh yeah Mak but that what does that do for a mid- major yeah that does nothing it does absolutely nothing and that just creates what is the de facto arrangement in football where you have two tiers you know you you have your fully funded programs you know your your power five your ACC SEC big I don’t even know what conference I I couldn’t name the teams in the SEC schools in the SEC now it changes so often but you know you almost have are getting into those multiple multiple levels of programs pretty good pitch dustel tries to hit the outside corner it’s sort of like Premier League soccer you’re you get relegated to the second division or something if you don’t have X amount of money and it’s I guess a particularly American way to do it where you’d be relegated because of money and not because of Talent OR achievement couple of strikes on Stevenson another Runner out there for the purple team Jaylen Fox will get a chance to run the bases at first good outing dle oh boy two-way player I’ll say so yeah he’s he’s that curve balls his weapon up the 90 on the mound we saw a nice fast ball there for strike three with a lot of light but for dle Joseph dle it’s the entire package the speed the power the arm that’s a good package [Music] you [Music] away [Music] Justice D young three time select Festival athlete talking earlier to you those that are spending time with us about getting to know he and his family and most of it remotely and now watching him grow become bigger taller stronger and he’s always been a little bit taller than everybody else but now coming into his frame he’s managed at 63 and and and a frame that plays taller than that because of the length and stay athletic and he wants to actually stay a two-way player the commitment to Duke yeah and and Duke they will they will play two-way players at Duke definitely and another thing about Justice D young 16 years old still that’s crazy huh so he’s he he’s he’s swinging above his his age both athletically and academically and you said he had some good stories you know pandemic of how he stayed you recall what he did where did he where he went living in New York York City to try to stay in shape try to stay athletic and he was what 12 years 12 13 years old then yeah and he’s got a younger brother I remember a lot of in-depth stories about asking for permission and using underground parking garages and being able to set up places to to throw the baseball to hit the baseball to run putting on you know regular regular sold shoes and took advantage as much as he could 90 that was 95 95 from Justice okay no more stories let’s watch what’s going on on the field here here Dylan Atkins from Madison Alabama turns that one loose at 94 you could hear it too could you a little bit of effort there a Little Grunt on the release there’s some big Leaguers who will grunt on their release too change up and a good take I’m not sure how Dylan Atkins took that one I swung from up here at that pitch and he grunted on his change up too which is a good sign back to the fastball with some riot at the plate 94 and that’s 94 with 15 in of horizontal to it play to 17 in so that fast ball at 94 plus velocity is going from one side of the plate to the other and Darr I will confess and this may be her you know Heretics in the you know analysis world but I like the horizontal break more than the vertical break okay and maybe it’s just a reaffirming I can see the horizontal easier but but getting a pit getting pitches and being able to to move a break a slider a cutter a curveball in One Direction and get your fast ball or change up to move 15 in in the other direction is a huge weapon and then 94 on the inside corner same thing but that had 12 in almost 13 He started that at the hitter’s elbow look at the elbow comes back in you know almost Greg Maddox like getting that glove side running action that’s a great comp the madx comebacker 94 miles an hour Dylan Atkins as that one is high Atkins from Madison Alabama Tennessee commit top 220 in the rankings this is Mario magana steps to the plate I jumped ahead my apologies Mario stepped in there for Dylan Mario singled back in the fourth inning just got done playing a frame at Third Base Miami man now I will say I have not seen Mario play very often in fact made this is my second time you look at him when I look at him now fresh in my mind First Impressions almost he looks like a ball player you look at the body you look at the facial expression he looks like a ball player Hammer right under the swing toward that back foot fast ball line drive base hit 94 coming in 94 going back that’s a good approach it’s kind of reminiscent of agbayani’s hit earlier in the game that that that was some pretty good hitting right there that was that was fun to watch I’m not I’m not a big fan of meana stance right there but but it it there those are lightning hands right there lightning hands didn’t try to do too much with it yeah the other it got in the Mounds throwing 9495 just try to Barrel up the ball that nice piece of hitting there goes magana steals second easily is he going to go to third yes he is and he will make it easily so Manana we got to see the left-handed bat speed we get to see the 63 running speed and he represents the tying run here in the bottom of the ninth inning Owen Jenkins the catcher takes that one out of the catcher mitt 93 milph well there’s something to the the two-way skill set and what Duke I’m sure is really excited about and watching this man pitch lost a monitor there D you all right yeah I know what happened we didn’t get hit by a foul ball I don’t think no no no no goes out and spoils a breaking ball away is this a is this a bit of a revelation this V yes I I was just going through my mind and you know I’m very list oriented yes yes you asked me to put together a top 10 list on you did on anything in the world I’ll put together a top 10 list and I was just thinking what am I I should put together a top 10 list of two-way guys in this class wow now that they you know you’ve had a chance to see pton Miller and see Justice D young and see where they are you know in their evening jobs in their evening jobs Moonlighting I love it this is their Moonlighting Moonlighting yeah I mean dang and and Miller list themselves exactly the same way on their positions primary third baseman secondary first baseman tertiary pitcher and where is that going to go Jonathan out of here into the bullpen up against the Sanderson Ford time 103 off the bat 375 ft Jonathan kums crushed it if you weren’t watching you heard that one our our favorite running back just circled the bases wow okay yeah that’s bad speed what’s that turning around to 93 fast ball like was sitting on a te Victor Coronado yeah he was ready for that fast ball boy he’ seen it and if he’s going to throw it to me I’m going to do my best to jump on it the Texas commit and for those of you keeping score or paying attention to the score Red now is a 4-3 lead here in the bottom of the ninth inning playing 10 of course good for justice goes right back to work with a nice breaking ball diving down and Away plays it on the high hop throw is Off the Mark our third baseman had a little more time to make that play than I think he thought he had but we’re going to uh take it out of the inning I think that was five hitters the young big stuff but this was a big swing oh yeah that’s a big and you could hear the reaction in the dugouts from the field mics it’s like wow look at that one go deep into the Bull Pen [Music] [Music] away well thematically let’s just keep it going right on down the tracks and take a look at another player who prides himself in playing on both sides of the baseball barrero takes the Rock and he rolls he shares about himself that his arm is above average on the mound he lives 89 to 92 and he’s the first to admit I need to polish my mechanics on the mount I want to show consistency with strikes he said I’m so tall I feel like the one thing I need to continue to work on in the mound is my repetition of mechanics well he gets a chance to show us who he is right here two-way player Alan Barrera 16 years 10 months he’s still another two months away from turning 17 so young like D young yeah very young we were’re watching 16-year-olds play who could very easily should have been in the junior National showcase there in Atlanta a couple weeks ago playing here on The Big Field brighten bull another big fella two big men here Ryden bull 65 top 45 player little change of pace just to settle down those mechanics that’s not what you’re looking for as a a hitter on a 20 count you’re thinking I’m going to get a fast ball he did that time but a good one 90 mph down and Away Sinker with 12 in of horizontal to it probably a two seamer he’s throwing bowling balls up there Darren heavy sink big run again you can often tell what kind of stuff a pitcher is throwing by how the catcher handles that and our catcher’s going to have a sore thumb tomorrow after that CU he he he caught that one on the thumb 91 milph and heavy Life Austin pinski is the catcher that one is lifted in the left field by bull and put away by Liam uch out there and left barrero dad as he pitches in this inning Richie played professionally in the Red Sox organization um is Eddie Laz and his sisters Alam Barrera now number 22 David Perez he really lifts up his mom and his sister calling him and I quote My Greatest Inspiration he said everything I do I do for them as David Perez lifts the breaking ball foul coming to school here in the States was a challenge for him heading to Central Point Christian Academy Perez is up here attacking this is an aggressive hitter with big strength he’s going to swing at things barrero tied to play it on a backhand behind his back I think that was actually the only play there would have been because I think otherwise it’s an infield hit in the infield yeah that that that had infield infield hit written all over it right FR off the barrel expanded The Zone a bit little soft but it’s kind of fun to watch fun stuff coming up 101u PGI we’ll have that one for you next week I get an opportunity to call that one as well as the 12 and nineu and then of course those WWB are amazing going to be a part of that Danny wexman Brett Dolan will help us broadcast a couple of games there and then our 14U National showcase for the first time ever live broadcast from the 14 New National show I going to say you’re not doing the 13 cuz the 13 precedes the 14 I’m going to be at both of them I’m glad to see that pgtv will be at the 14 that’s a wonderful wonderful event we always send uh a lot of times Danny wexman down with a a production team but we’re actually gonna do some live games as well all right Chris Sylvester the great voice of Cal paully Athletics is going to be the voice of that event all right Matt mcnight at the plate for purple Runner moving up that one skips away I I’ve been watching Matt mcnight since he was 510 145 PBS his dad Mark National cros checker for the Cincinnati Reds very respected member of The Scouting community make their home in Charlotte North Carolina I’ve watched a lot of video of Matt as he’s gotten stronger gotten bigger and really learned to drive the ball and earned a scholarship from North Carolina which I think was his dream school all along dad’s employment speaks a lot to why one of his favorite players to watch and to learn from throughout his life has been Joey vad and if Dad has an inside path to to learn from Joey which he does he already many many young athletes love watching Joey VTO but how how unique for for Matt to get to to learn maybe a little bit on the side from Joey I like listening to Joey V as much as having watched him play PG Alum by the way that’s a PG Alum and he went to this event this event the national showcase went to Jupiter too I remember watching him him and Jupiter Matt mcnight talk about his dad mom dad is Mark I should say mom is Mary got a younger brother Luke hello Luke Luke is 14 years old swings through that one throw down run will Scamper on home as well and one one of the ironies when your dad is a scout you think oh yeah son and you know I work with my dad all the time blah blah blah the biggest challenge for a dad who’s a scout is actually getting to see your son play because during the Spring during the summer mark mcnight is out at ball games doing his job seven days a week and his job isn’t to follow his son around you know he’s out scouting you know for a major league organization and traveling the country and I know I went through this with Greg zenino who’s another a red Scout and his his son Mike and it was a challenge for him to just see his son play a couple times a year well I’m 54 years old and my father wrapped up his Hall of Fame baseball career during my senior year of high school then immediately became a full-time broadcaster and I covet and cherish about three times that he was able to see me pitch in my life so I know exactly what you’re talking about like I’ll never forget those days swing and a miss and over the top of that one literally a college game in Hammond Louisiana against Southeast Louisiana why do I remember it I don’t know how good I was but my dad was there and I I’m sure your late father cherished those memories too you’re right it’s it’s a tough grind baseball you’re carrying on kind of the family tradition but it’s a commitment to working this game mcnight I’m sure Pop’s proud of that one base hit right field 95 hard off the bat shot the hole that’s a great approach take another look at this yeah just kept it simple he’d seen the pitches he had two strikes keep the hands back lag the barrel a bit solid Barrel contact now we have purple has regained lead here in the top of the 10th inning five to four they might do more that one crushed by Jaylen Fox but a running play Oh What A play that was in right field kums covered so much ground tracking tracking tracking hey Jonathan Corbin Carroll plays out there a lot he’d have been proud of that play yeah you really got to see the athleticism if you didn’t see kum’s athleticism in his swing you got to see it here got a great jump and he got there quick I that wasn’t he he beat the ball there he doesn’t feel good about it his throwback in but but he sure tracked it down o and one the count Masa chill cut Jonathan comes closing the Gap out in front of the pool in right field here at Chase ouch elasa you swung at that you’re not getting you’re you’re not getting a fast ball only count for hit by pitch you you kind of swung at that one my friend here we go he’s okay which is good that’s the most important part of things twist in hands you hate when you see that yesh lifeblood of hitters tied him up little change up there on the knuckles chill cut is turned into an out on a very nice play by Diego Jose Cruz but speaking of nice plays de Jonathan closing the Gap out there we could do a whole Jonathan comes tape from this game this is the defensive highlight the home run last inning [Music] [Music] away [Music] hey there David and Darren glad to have you with us I don’t know if I’m allowed to promo things I want to make sure I get clearance from our leadership but I’m going to go ahead and tell you as David Perez goes to work Sunday night after Sunday night baseball and you’ve listened to it on ML Network radio on sirusxm go ahead and listen to the only show devoted to amateur baseball on MLB Network radio and David Rony is going to be a part of it he’s going to take a look at 10 or so players and maybe some Family Ties David’s going to help me co-host it we’re going to have a wonderful interview with a couple of players here we’re going to take a look at baseball in Canada as Canada traveled down that’s Sunday night top players great assessment baseball in Canada MLB round trip with perfect game after Sunday Night Baseball thought I just share that with you I don’t know why you’re asking for permission you’re the boss here’s Joseph now and any reason to talk about these these great players these great young men you know that that’s an opportunity I certainly welcome in any environment get to take a look at Perez has been up to 92 with his fast ball this summer already and he’s facing another two-way player and Joseph dustel dust he really ped pitched well didn’t he I I loved what I saw yeah that he has the present tool in the curveball that curveball is going to get hitters out especially left-handed hitters it has such big angle to it but what excites me more right now is that 108 exit velocity home run heit the other day and you couple that with 66 speed you know that’s an athlete can do just about anything on a baseball field pretty good GID up on that last fast ball from Perez that 94 mph as he drops a curveball outside hey you look at Perez and he just oozes athleticism you know you could put that that body on a football field as a corner a defensive back a running back a slot receiver you could see any number of things athletically there and he has an intensity to him we saw that in the Batters box and aggressiveness the 2 two shoots that one to the back stop one more game here it will follow after this one it’s tentatively scheduled to start at noon we’ll see if they adjust the start time probably not order to allow everyone proper breaks grounds crew to prepare the field Mike faren Steve Phillips speaking of MLB Network radio and SiriusXM we’ll bring some of the stars from that station and they’ll call the the game there’re a lot more than just that those are two great baseball men too and you mentioned the ground screw Darren and that for a ground crew you know they’re here 16 hours a day during the season keeping this big league ballpark ready and then we come into town as dle hammers that ball to center field medium deep but a easy play for the center fielder I think that’s Jaylen fox out there but we we’ve done a lot of things Big League Parks we do a lot of things at majorly you know complexes especially in you know Florida in here in Arizona and all those and the ground crew here at Chase Field is unparalleled in my experience they’re fast they’re friendly and that’s not always the case and uh have the great greatest admiration of the grounds crew here well I’ve always thought a lot even when I was back calling the Diamondbacks on television for 5 years getting to know Grant Tren Beth who runs things here has run the evolution from trying to fight here in the desert to get grass to maintaining pristine Turf that he has out there the the field Turf and uh you know he takes such Pride there are some some understandable rules that are shared uh with these athletes here seeds no obviously tobacco no you’re underage so no tobacco anyway but seeds no and all of us staffers that are out there it’s it’s it’s your bottle of water is fine if you’re going out there to shoot but please don’t drink your foamy coffee and dump it out on my on my grass so uh Grant is an amazing man his team really good folks and he gets a ton of credit he has been running things here at Chase since 1997 wow they open the doors in ’98 so that’ll tell you he’s OG and I and I value maybe more so than others my relationship with OG Dbacks people that helped to open this building 1998 1997 and my old supervisor Scott guy who was my boss when I worked here just an amazing man he’s been here since the beginning used to direct Diamondbacks games on television still here good man good people with this organization into the catchers minut it goes this is a fun showing again at the end of the game we’re seeing as pinski goes down on strikes two ways getting a chance to pitch yeah yeah I’m a I’m a big David Perez fan there’s a there’s an intensity there he’s going to throw everything as hard as he can he’s going to swing as hard as he can but he’s doing it with a smile too ouch AJ Terry doesn’t react too much he’s just making sure the wrist and hands okay you hope that you can Flinch just enough to move away from a direct strike to those bones you know hard to miss that dirt bags logo on his helmet isn’t it in travel ball there are a handful of logos that we all know and boy that’s one of them that that that may be that and the canes I think are the two that that just jump out and for so many years I mean probably the first 15 years probably pretty much to co perfect game everywhere we would put helmets perfect game helmets in The Dugout you know five in each Dugout that’s lined in the left field for a base hit Runners coming around no throw [Music] and they got AJ Terry diving in hey there my friend that was fun calling baseball with you yeah ball game here and we saw some fun stuff two-way guys home runs some good pitching lot of strikes lot of strikes I love the the two-way pitchers today whether there’s pton Miller Justice dong they put on a show especially loved watching Jonathan comes play today Darren it comes with the Homer comes with a great defensive play on behalf of our entire production team and you know how proud I am of
