first call up for JAL quanser in Midfield Trent Alexander Arnold Conor Gallagher Curtis Jones cobby minu Dean rice and Crystal Palace is Adam wton both Warton and Jones have never been called up before and a lot of Strikers and these will be Whitted down Jude Bellingham um and G Southgate said don’t get too caught up in the fact he’s in the list of squ of Strikers Jud Bellingham Jared Bowen e chza Phil foden Jack greish Anthony Gordon Harry Kane James Madison Cole Palmer Bayo saaka Ivan Tony Ole Watkins all included uh Gordon and Palmer could both actually start it wouldn’t be Unthinkable it’s a real shame that he didn’t get his opportunity to go in the squad you know William I I agree there because again his numbers this season have been brilliant s lank he’s played really well but also G Southgate likes players that have come through like the kind of England youths now listen he’s won the World Cup at under 17 I think it was he won the World Cup at under 20 Level and he also won the European championships at under 17 so he he he knows what it’s like to be a major tournament for his country he’s won major tournaments and as you said there’s he’s had the form of his life so if you’re dominant sank right now you’re gutted you can’t help but be gutted because you you’ve had the season of your life and he may never do this again and there’s another one more play as well which I would have I can understand that he’s played with the under 21 T OT but I think in that Midfield he gives you something a little bit different and very versatile that also he could have been selected as well but I know he’s being played for the under 21s but I think as well he could have quite easily gotten this squad as well I’m I’m a big fan of Harvey Elliott it was interesting thanks for the call William interesting that Jurgen Club a couple of weeks ago was asked about Harvey Elliott and he actually came out and said I regret not playing him more this season and it felt like he was saying I’m really sorry it looks like I may have robbed him of a chance of playing for England at this tournament the other thing with Harvey Elliott is players in that position I mean where would you play him I think he can play in central Midfield but hasn’t been playing there for for Liverpool Curtis Jones has hence he’s been caught up on Salan we’ve got so many forward players and yet no salanki in there and on the face of it you’re looking at Ivan Tony who’s been out for half the season then he’s had an injury as well and you’re thinking well how does he get in ahead of salanki I think this is where you look at how they wear the shirt because it’s a heavy you know it’s a heavy heavy shirt to wear I mean those three lines the expectation the pressure look we’re talking about a training Squad and the and the board is full of calls and we’ll get to them in a second but you’ve got to be able to wear the shirt and and still be yourself and it looks like from what we’ve seen so far will be at limited time Ivan Tony is exactly that man he just know he carries it so well and that’s why I think with Watkins and sanki both guys have an incredible Watkins for me I mean he was close to being player of the season with with these stats the goals and the assists but just off the eye test looking at the last couple of Internationals Ian Tony against Belgium just looked like he’d been playing International football for years and that comfortable the penalty there was no doubt he was ever going to miss that penalty so I just wonder if G looked at that and gone I can’t really ignore that you compare and and it sounds so harsh cuz Watkins has been brilliant he seems like a really good as well yeah you compare his performance in his game to Ivans in his his game and it was a world of difference but he’s in there OE Watkins I’m no doubt I get some game time in the two friendlies and and there’s another chance for him there he may even go with Ivan Tony and Harry Kane who knows um but it is Harsh on on salanki um kieran’s a Leicester city fan hi you mate you’re on talk sport hello guys how’s it going all right all good mate very well good to have you on not bad not bad um yeah I just want to I just think that us as England fans and including myself we’re very thickle we’re never happy but for once I’m actually looking at Southgate and I think you know can’t you can’t moan that he’s not called up rashford or the only the only complaint from me and again this is me including in the fickleness um I would have probably I’d rather have Sancho over Curtis Jones but apart from that I’m hang to say this is I’m bewildered by that honestly sorry Jaden Sancho is a wide player Curtis Jones is a central midfielder you can’t you can’t compare the two what what what are you thinking there no yeah no no I completely hear what you’re saying really do really do it’s that’s again that’s the only little thing I have but your argument is very much valid but apart from that I am very happy with the with the squad with the team he’s called upon um I can’t really see Jones having as much of an impact as Sancho would that’s what I’m trying to say I thought going to say JW brall not long soon well back in the Premier League to prove a point next season um list I think central Midfield is is an issue uh for England and Henderson has gone that’s a big bold call we all expected Henderson to be in I heard you and Andy talking about it on the show yesterday everybody expected Henderson to be in and he’s not in that Squad and a lot of England fans will be happy with it I’m pleased that kieran’s happy with the squad it’s nice positivity is a brenford fan what are you thinking Chris hi there nice afternoon chaps um to be honest I’ve when I heard about these players that weren’t going to be going I thought are we going to see a squad that’s actually going to be with players that have never played before so when they came out and I saw those players that weren’t I thought this is absolutely perfect I mean I personally and everyone was going to be shocked I wouldn’t have taken Ivan Tony to start with but now he’s the squad I’m thinking actually do you know what he might just be able to get us off the line if it comes to a penalty shootout Chris Chris Chris how’s his form been um because I know V has been on fire scoring goals but how’s Tony been well that’s the think Tony he’s been a bit hit and miss he came straight back for us at the start of start of the year and absolutely was on fire and then set back and then we got Yan wer who absolutely has been perfect and now we’re at that point where people going well Tony’s going to go Tony’s going to go I’m thinking well if we can keep Visa that’s absolutely perfect for us I listen they play attacking players Strikers and and without Tony they cop they survived as Thomas Frank said a challenging season and he’s come back and those first few games he was Sensational no doubt about it um and I I can see him going I can see him having an impact as well Off the Bench Ivan Tony is going to be fascinating this summer couple of other texts very quickly why on Earth is James tarkovski not being uh picked as he plays with pford every week that’s Beno and Liverpool I think we just talked about this that listen they’ve got some good clean sheets this season Everton Watkins an argument Watkins been one of the best in the League this season Tony scored once since the new year uh he scored more than that Nick but it’s about sometimes how you are around the camp and with that heavy England shirt as as well and Andy and Glasgow says Jon Stones played defensive Midfield in the Champions League final last year got man of the match he’s more than adequate uh backup for rice if he gets injured I thought rodri was man of the match but um he’s just not been playing Jon Stones is he it’s very strange that because pep has got a habit of doing that where players you’re thinking oh he’s going to start he just doesn’t all of a sudden leaves him out for a season yeah it’s it’s been a weird one in terms of the uh stats for Jon Stones um his numbers in terms of playing uh he’s got 21 starts out of 38 in the Premier League this season it’s not it’s not a lot he’s made a contribution still a good player but um not a huge amount on am on da via the talk sport
