hello all and welcome to all red Anthony Gordon is heavily linked to Liverpool FC per several resources uh one of those being Fabricio Romano so there you know there are a little bit of legs to this rumor but Anthony Gordon the rumor is that new Castle United are somewhat forced to sell him to comply with F Financial fair play rules because obviously no Champions League football their revenue is down they have not performed well and uh they are somewhat in a freef fall and being forced to sell players of the likes of Anthony Gordon who I think is probably their Most Valuable Player uh since he’s English he’s a good scorer good young player everything’s kind of on his side to boost that valuation which has kind of been up in the 100 million pound range which is just a little crazy but we need to talk about is this a realistic option for Liverpool and is it actually a good idea so what I’ve done here is we’re going to compare Anthony Gordon with our other two I think really solid leftwing options now one of those being of course Luis Diaz who has been our left Winger for the past two years the past two seasons he solidified that as kind of like that’s his spot uh and you can see the comparisons here they’re they’re somewhat uh favorable to Anthony Gordon now obviously obviously Anthony Gordon’s been playing in an inferior team Anthony Gordon’s been playing for uh Newcastle United who by all standards um have underperformed you know they came in with uh big money uh I think it was two years ago or three years ago now and came in came in with big money had aspirations to you know stay in the top four be a stalwart in the top four and it just has not happened it shows you how difficult it is is even if you have uh massive amounts of money to spend uh you still unless you’re you know man city you still uh have difficulties in solidifying the um the top four place you know a top four for Champions League football which brings in a lot of extra income but Newcastle finished seventh uh in the 23 24 campaign and uh will not have Champions League football will not have Europa League football so there is uh there’s a lot going downward on the trend for Newcastle uh and Anthony Gordon was in that team now they were not awful they were not horrible but by all measures uh Newcastle were not a great team last season and so Anthony Gordon uh you know his stats can be discounted a little bit uh because he was playing in an inferior team what would Anthony Gordon do in this Liverpool side uh with the likes of Trent Alexander Arnold feeding him and mallister feeding him um you would think that those numbers would go up now uh Diaz had 48 appearances Gordon 44 and you know what I’m going to put up the other guy here because we need to talk about Cody gakpo so these three is what we’re comparing and um I think out of the three here’s why I I just don’t think Anthony Gordon makes sense for Liverpool is because we have coach gakpo and you know Diaz is he’s our starting left Winger at the moment but what does ARA slot do uh when he comes in and figures out his his own formation I I me personally I think Cody gakpo needs to be our starting left Winger he has a much more uh natural knack for goal I think than Luis Diaz Luis Diaz is a Workhorse he’s he’s a good player he’s got great footwork the Finish product isn’t quite there um whereas I think Cody gakpo is now coming into his own and we’re seeing this in the the Euro right now uh Cody gakpo on the left wing is danger Roo and at 25 years old he’s got a couple years on Luis Diaz and um and this is why Cody gakpo uh is why I just don’t think Anthony Gordon makes sense Anthony Gordon’s 23 Cody gakpo is 25 uh and I feel like Cody gakpo is maybe a little bit ahead of where Anthony Gordon is right now um so really the tradeoff could be uh just like like two years of age two years of age and you know spending 100 million pounds on that I just don’t know if it makes sense um now we would definitely need to sell somebody I think the obvious choice here would be you sell Luis Diaz if there’s a Suitor maybe in Spain I’ve heard Barcelona links so if there’s a Barcelona link and uh they come in and spend 60 70 million pounds on Luis Diaz well maybe Anthony Gordon makes sense but who’s going to ride the bench because I don’t want to do this Cody gakpo oh let’s put Cody gakpo in in at the nine he’s our Center forward um I just no Cody gako is a left Winger he needs to be on the left wing and I think arnest slot will will realize that um and so you’ve got Gordon then it’s Gordon and gakpo fighting out for that left wing spot and I think both are starting caliber players so I just don’t know that that Anthony Gordon makes sense unless Newcastle are extremely desperate to sell and Anthony Gordon says Hey I was born in Liverpool I’m GNA force a move only to Liverpool I don’t want to go anywhere else and we’re gonna get a cut rate deal for 50 60 million pounds um Michael Edwards you know he could probably get that done uh but Newcastle are probably not going to uh to let him go they would probably sell off other players at that point I just don’t think it makes sense for them to let go you know their best young player uh at a discount um so Anthony Gordon uh I just don’t think it makes sense I don’t think it makes sense for Liverpool because because of the talent we have uh on that left wing notably Cody gakpo who I think is really going to come into his own under Arna slot I think he’s going to be a starting fixture for this Liverpool team and I think he’s um I think he’s set to really explode this next season you know 22 goal involvements uh across almost 50 appearances is decent it’s not amazing but it’s decent and Cody gakpo is largely being played out of position somewhat out of necess necessity last season with all of our injuries but I expect AR a slot to come in and say all right Cody gakpo your natural position is on the left wing and we need a left Winger who can press who can take players 1 V one who can be excellent on the counter and you know most importantly can score goals out on that left side and I think that’s Cody gakpo I think that’s Cody gakpo more than the these other two guys now would you do a straight swap if you said okay Cody gakpo or Anthony Gordon well like I said I think I think Cody gakpo is two years ahead of Anthony Gordon look at the Euros right now who’s more of a focal point for their team uh Cody gakpo for sure now Cody gakpo plays in a team that probably has less Talent overall than the English side there’s a lot of English players uh a lot of great players a lot of big names a lot of big Talent there but Cody gakpo is much more of a focal point uh he is by all accounts Cody gakpo is kind of that guy on the front line for the Netherlands and um and and Anthony Gordon I you know I don’t even know if he’s started a game uh maybe he has um but uh you know it just kind of goes to show you who is who’s ready and who’s not super duper ready uh yeah Anthony Gordon’s played one match I don’t think he started it I could be wrong um Cody gakpo is you know he is the guy uh for the Netherlands and um you know he’s got two goals in the Euros he had uh and he he in the last World Cup he was uh making headlines because he was scoring goals so anyways um I would keep gakpo and I would not pursue Anthony Gordon at the price point that he is at right now I don’t think it makes sense for Liverpool and uh that might be a bit of a hot take Anthony Gordon’s a great player but um um but I’m not going in for him I think that money could be spent elsewhere and uh I think we’ve got you know guys that can come in behind gakpo or Diaz uh should they both remain and uh and make an impact without spending 100 million pounds on an English player um so that’s my take and uh and we will see what Michael Edwards and Co and Arna slot decide to do uh once the Euros are phimo uh because I have a feeling all the clubs are kind of waiting to announce uh deals I think there are deals done already uh but we know that Liverpool keep it on the hush hush and everybody else is as
