now Phil Fon has struggled so far to make the impact he’s like during the euros and by the way he’s not been that bad for God’s sake though the PFA player of the season has shown the the odd flashes of Brilliance Friends of the breakfast show and forden’s former youth coach Steve Steve a joins us live in just a moment I think I think listen no one’s been outstanding the Boys At The Back have been good he plays so well for City though didn’t he everybody you know and Bellingham is the same everybody’s expecting Lots of’s been for Bayern so yeah it was on just before the tourament believed that Phil should Thrive wherever he’s asked to play I certainly wouldn’t be offended if Phil played on the left wing for England with sacker on the right and Bellingham in the number 10 and I think you would miss completely the uh the 22 25 yard shots from outside of the box I I accept that but I think the best thing I could say about it is I think Phil folden will be brilliant for England in this tournament whatever position that he plays and that won’t leave us curious that he should be playing somewhere else yeah I’d like I’d like to see them further forward personally but look knowing what we know now is it working on the life of fool let’s speak to former city coach Steve here Steve a very good morning morning Steve morning Al morning R Steve I don’t think people are you know listen I think people expecting a hell of a lot and in England I’ve got a lot more to give individually definitely and together definitely but I I don’t I don’t think Phils been that bad you know I’m not going to see he having a bad tournament no chance no definitely not he was allowed a little little bit of a roaming role in one of the games a little bit more discipline with the other and I think we’re now at the stage now where I don’t think there’s going to be any issue the fact that he’s congratulations to him to come home to have the uh assist with the birth of his third child but to come back into the you know close training session today and uh and stay in the team from the start what we’re all obviously questioning now is in what position and if it continues to be the wide left position uh I think eventually he’s going to have a big say um in the tournament but uh I do think there’s obviously a clamor now for him to change position which would be uh in the number 10 position most football supporters want to see I love him off the right hand side but uh my my Preferred Choice is actually to the left of Dean rice with Jud with the Jude Bellingham to the right which opens up some different things on the front line Lads yeah definitely I mean look there’s no doubt fodm will be in that starting lineup um come Sunday for me Palmer is another another play you know Steve pretty well um the big dilemma for Gareth I thought he made a big impact when he come on uh the other night and does he start with Palmer that’s the big question everybody wants him to start and then people mention golden as well but Palmer what a season he had at Chelsea and you know he he’s a goal in him you know the the goal scoring record he had at Chelsea was unbelievable so that’s the big question G’s got to ask himself is he going to make a bigger impact playing for the start hopefully I can cover that R because I believe there’s no reason to be curious he has to start for me um the easi the easiest thing to do is to suggest he can come in on that wide left hand side um but I would actually like to put it out there I really want to see him on the right hand side I want to say about boo saaka I think he plays the touchline amazingly well when he when he’s on top form but I think Cole Palmer comes in off the line he plays one twos with the number 10 in and the striker he passes into the penalty area he Services the box he obviously shoots but what he also does he comes across the pitch and he switches the play and brings the opposite WID man into the game so whilst he could come in as as the left Winger I would actually like to see Saka gona go on the other side which would make him the number 11 I’d like to see Cole Palmer come in with his left foot on the right hand side and if we have to make a positive substitution late in the game with somebody like Anthony Gordon and we want to keep the balance of the team if sacka then has to go to left back basically he’s only got to go back five yards and just carry on with his game so I actually want to see sacka on the left wing and Palmer on the right Lads Steve what did you do with Bellingham I sit him next to Declan rice Allen with Phil fod in the other side um as opposed to either of them being in the number 10 position they would all play well in there and win as another game eventually but I think Harry Kane obviously likes to come into that space I think Phil folden likes to get into into that space with him without the ball and Jude Bellingham certainly does and I think between the three the three great players and great Lads that they are I think they can give Slovakia no end of problems if they leave that little number 10 space open and between the three of them just invade it at the right time sa what you doing Sunday at five o’cl we get you out there I’ll be I had an opportunity to go but but I had another commitment which stopped me so I’ll be watching from home um and I’m hoping you know the the changes aren’t too drastic but we can all obviously get behind the team now and and and a bit of recognition for the team and the manager and the defense and goalkeeper we have actually only conceded one goal in the tournament from 30 yards up to now the back line hasn’t been breached the penalty area has hardly been invaded I just think now if you can get Phil foden on the ball in the middle of the pitch arriving in the number 10 position as opposed to being position there and get Cole Palmer on the right hand side we win the game possibly win the tournament this does talk spot I
