[Music] second half of live golf league is underway and day one was an exciting one Bryson Des Shambo continued to wow the fans finishing just three back of the leading score an eight answer edged out competition finishing AC top of the leaderboard and it’s team Fireballs GC currently lead the lead team leaderboard how will things pan out today only time will tell we’re here to chat about it all I’m your host Christian Crosby welcome to Club 54 pre-round show and joining me is the one and only Cowboy himself Jerry F howdy you’re supposed to say howdy howdy Jerry howdy Jerry how you feeling nickname me dirty Jerry I don’t not sure that’s actually flattering well I fully converted to Cowboy Crosby if if you haven’t noticed yes I was going to go buckleberry but Cowboy Crosby works we expected these fans to have a lot of excitement is it safe to say they exceeded our expectations yesterday yeah it was it was a really good showing yesterday today’s a little bit bigger as well um you know we we buil it as a a sellout it has been basically every Ticket available has been taken uh the crowds out there supporting Bryson yesterday were really really impressive not supporting him but just following him and and then taking in the the show that is Bryson now you know the most popular guy in the game of golf currently playing golf it’s just it’s phenomenal to see how the he brings the energy from the crowd and they get the energy out of him we’re we’re going to talk about Bryson a little later but will he run out of juice like how long I don’t see how don’t I don’t see how you don’t we were at dinner last night a couple of us and we ended up at the player hotel and down at past 9:00 he’s down there having a meeting with some people just an impromptu meeting I’m like why are you not in bed he goes so tired so tired but he’s running on that adrenaline only two more days to do it he might be able to I don’t expect expect him to not run out of gas I fully expect him to run out of gas but he’s young he’s strong he’s motivated he’s popular he’s running on some nervous energy and some adrenaline right now I think it’ll be pretty cool if he if he was able to hold up some top level play this week can’t wait to see what happens and as you can see the fans energy is contagious we fully embraced Nashville here with our fits I actually had a chance to go downtown and uh have some fun on Broadway and got to connect with the fans a little bit more so Jerry you haven’t seen this yet check this out yeah oh yeah check this out live golf league is here in Nashville we’re way okay what do you think this man would bring to the cookout uh definitely store bought chips and Sala do you guys know who do you guys know who this guy is right here hopefully he’s taking her to the cookout all right here here is your moment to send a message stop disturbing these people wait a minute you guys you guys know who this is this is Dean just crashed the party this is amazing tell us this team name here sunshine it’s team Sunshine say that again sther slyther the gorillas no is that a cougar is that a cougar the Cougars I mean I’m always out for the Cougars okay I love good cougar here we go the flying arrows that’s Ripper baby fans were just uh so much fun to say to least and they embrac me with welcome arms so yeah that was like a lot of fun down there you bring out the best of them you’re such a likable approachable guy oh thank you Jerry I wouldn’t call those people fans up they didn’t know who any of the players were or any of the team logos uh this is where I actually got the hat from right on right on Broadway so where where’d you go Jer uh place called The Boot Barn they had about a thousand hats they had two that fit my head this one and a George Straight hat that cost about 10 times as much so I went with the the discount version I like it though it’s a lot of shade you look good Jerry shall we uh talk some golf no let’s talk about Cowboy hot some more let’s talk about golf let’s talk about Abe aner a little bit Abe aner uh an incredible day finished seven under par with a bogey free round um the leader board speaks for itself just tell me about his day and how impressed you were with his game well we have a statistician who nicknamed him The Merchant of accuracy and I love it this is a course he should not do well on because of the length because he’s one of the shorter hitters in the league but he is he’s leading the way plus 4.38 shots he gained Strokes gained against the field in one round on just the greens he was also third in Long approach shots a third of the approach shots on this course come from over 200 yards he was ranked third in that of 54 players you put good driving down accurate driving and uh and great putting together and you are going to have a great day uh well I can’t wait to see it but first let’s take a look back at Round One a little recap from the highlights of the day so this is how it looks after the first day of Liv Golf Nashville Abraham aner an opening round of 6 four pretty solid there no no [Music] complaints Abraham aner has got it to seven underpar on day one it’s another bird a lot of tricky reads out here the greens are tricky to make some puts and he was nice to to see some go in so uh lots of positives today I can’t really complain answer just tearing it up today on a course that you wouldn’t think on paper would fit Abraham yeah I mean there’s still Lots to golf left I’m not really getting ahead of myself I just want to do the same thing tomorrow and keep hitting the ball straight making some [Music] putts got to love it round one has come to an end and here are the results let’s take a look at the leaderboards Jerry do what you do best break this leaderboard down for the fans well we already talked about a anter and what he did so well Terell Hatton he has all the tools that statistically you need on this golf course except for one that is it’s got a much higher penalty for missing a fairway than most most other courses but the good news for for Hatton is the fairways are really wide and nobody misses him that really suits him I I like his chances from this point moving forward John Catlin not many of our viewers know much about him he’s currently second on the international series order of Merit he’s won a few times on the European tour or the DP World Tour and also the international series and the Asian tour and a win here would be life-changing for him it would give him a really really good chance of maybe getting in that top 24 and locking up a spot on next year’s lip Golf League let’s talk a little bit more about Abe aner uh one in Hong Kong he’s consistently at the top of that leaderboard um he even said in his press conference he used to play with something to prove and now he just wants to play he feels free and I think that’s showing a lot right now um can we expect him to keep this up throughout today and tomorrow well you know the hot putter can last it often most times doesn’t he putted way better than his average putting yesterday the green are awesome you if you get it online you can make some putts but he made a whole lot more than everybody else you don’t expect him to be plus 4.38 every round so that’s that’s a Difference Maker he can’t get to any of the par fivs is my knowledge or maybe just one of them in two uh so he’s at a disadvantage there but he doesn’t miss Fairways he doesn’t miss greens by and large compared to the field I I think he’ll have a good chance come Sunday but I fully expect one of the longer a couple of the longer hitters to give him a run for his money well Carlos Ortiz who won in Houston is going to be his teammate in the Olympics do you think maybe that’s an extra motivation for Abe to maybe get a win this week to give him more confidence as he gets ready for the Olympic I don’t know I never thought of it that way maybe so yeah I mean there are a lot of bragging rights on the line these guys are playing for a lot of money these are world class players in world class competition we have a fun atmosphere it’s a very festive atmosphere out here the guys get to play in a more relaxed environment but when they get on the course it is still Golf and it means a lot to them so not only what they’re playing for in terms of the importance of the tournaments to them but also so a little bit of bragging rights amongst country mates yes well stuff’s not just happening on a course it’s happening on social media let’s take a look at some Friday reactions from round one the fans are speaking and a lot of people are talking about our day anything that stands out to you here I just love seeing the fans as they engage throughout the day we want to encourage you guys too throw up some tweets we’ll throw them on the show if you want to be famous keep the interactions coming on social got to love it [Music] Sergio Garcia and Abe answer our Fireballs GC teammates and fellow Gearheads they were given the chance to ride to the course in a new Maserati and of course didn’t hesitate take a look what’s up guys I’m ab maner and I’m Sergio Garcia captain of firewall GC we’re about to get in this beautiful 2024 Maserati Grand Turismo TR fail to head to the golf [Music] course yes sir 542 horsepower fastest Grand Turismo in the market from 0 to 60s top speed is 199 mph yeah you don’t have any kids yet but you know you can you can put the back there even with a car seat and everything so plenty of room golf club’s in the back yeah you know we’re sitting eighth in the standings um but we’re trending we have tournaments are right there and we just haven’t been able to close it all right my time to drive all [Applause] yours extremely sporty but it’s really comfy it is the definition of a Grand Turismo correct already did a great job all right big guy time to do work yep now it’s time to do what we do baby have a good week too buddy let’s go love to see those guys having a good time in the maer Jared have you got a test drive yet or what no I have not got a test drive but one of our onor talent once got pulled over going 187 miles per hour she sounds like a lot of fun all right let’s uh talk about these individual guys who are on the hunt chasing Abe answer today uh the leaderboard is stacked and if you look at the leaderboard a lot of those guys up there play better Under Pressure can we expect to see a roller coaster of a day all of them play better under pressure that’s why they’re here that’s why they’re professional golfers that’s why they have their name on their bag they they don’t really I don’t know if you could say Thrive Under Pressure but that is what they practice for that’s what that’s what gets their heart pumping and makes them tick that’s what they live for all of them play better under pressure we saw had I said his game suited for it uh catlyn he played a very solid round of golf statistically no mistakes nothing really stood out but there was nothing bad but you just look behind the the six uh the seven six and five and one name stands out above all others and four of course that’s Bryson the shampo and uh he hit the ball so well 79% of his Fairways yesterday he got that six degree driver head back on not the 5 degree that he changed to on Sunday morning and still went on the win even though he couldn’t find much of the golf course from a t-shot standpoint at Pinehurst but he drove it with his with his Drive raner was just I mean just on autopilot his swing is just it’s just working it’s what you know he’s tried to build and and you get to that point where you don’t really have to think about it and you don’t have a lot of Swing thoughts and it’s just going where you’re trying to get it to go and the game feels easy to you all of a sudden you think well maybe I’m there maybe I never have to worry about it again it’ll last about a week Jerry every fan yesterday had on Crushers GC hats it almost seen how about Bryson’s teammate John Catlin how hard is it to step in as a substitute have this much pressure on you as Bryson’s uh playing his best golf and then perform that well I mean how difficult is that it would be really intimidating for a young guy with not much of a resume but he’s been playing professional golf for quite a few years he’s been around these guys and he also grew up playing junior golf and know and he knew Bryson really well so he wasn’t thrust into an environment that is extremely intimidating to him cuz he has some experience there he’s been in a lot of tournaments with a lot of bigname players here there’s a ton of them and here there’s a ton of great players and a ton of guys who’ve won major championships and a lot of them but he has that self-belief to get himself to this point uh having won some events on various tours including the DP World Tour and that self-belief is the Difference Maker Greg Norman once told me it was in 1988 in a player meeting in Australia and all the guys were whining about their little lot in life and how they could change the rules so they could get more access and this now he he stood up and he said guys the only difference between me and you I don’t I don’t have any more skills than you the difference between me and all you guys is I believe in myself wow you can’t teach that that young man has a lot of belief in himself got to love that was so much fun to watch I want to know what you’re watching for today but first let’s check in with dom and suan what can we watch for on day two we’re here in the middle of the fan Village for day two in Nashville a player we might not be as familiar with uh is John Catlin but one we should Overlook he’s a phenomenal well-rounded player he said in the post round show yesterday that now that he’s had a taste of live golf he wants to make sure he earns a spot here for next year and Dom you said to me yesterday he’s a closer and every time he he leads a tournament he ends up finishing it pretty well you’re right sir and I’ve watched John a lot he is a terrific front runner but I followed ter Hatton yesterday worldclass player once as high as fifth in the world rankings he’s driving it beautifully he made a little adjustment on his putter after the US Open and he puttered beautifully yesterday if he continues in this vein he’s going to be one to look out for this week big thanks to Ann and Di Jerry I got looking good over at the picnic table aren’t they but it’s a long hot day out there for them today so they need a little chill time well there’s one other person on the show that we haven’t tossed to I believe she’s over there time get Rachel in yeah let’s get let’s get pro golfer Rachel Drummond in on the scene Rachel what you got going on over there howdy I’m just being a proper golf lover here looking at Abe and Benji Benji can you do my club sure this is part of uh answer’s team Benji the caddy a very very crucial member cleaning my grooves you can see why he’s good and he’s hitting some pure shots what questions you got for me Jerry well first of all you got Benji Thompson right there one of the coolest caddies in the world who’s uh who will be really nice to you no matter how well a plays but secondly we aled about a being the accuracy Merchant you’re a you’re you’re a a accomplished player and also an accomplished instructor what is it about his swing in your professional opinion Rachel that generates that incredible accuracy okay so number one he’s self-taught which means you have to spend a lot of time by yourself on the rage figuring out how to hit certain shots so number one that is unbelievable number two impact he’s always working on his path he’s finding where the strike is and I think that’s a great thing for people at home home fundamentals and impact is the most important thing everyone out here has got different moves different swings but AB bance has got his own move and he owns it does he have something around his neck there yes right thanks Jerry what is it he has basically a lanyard with a glove and it’s under his left armpit so he’s obviously working on a bit of connection through the golf ball explain what that means connection so he’s keeping his upper body triceps connected to his rib cage which will help him get consistent impact should we ask Benji Benji why is he got a glove under I have no idea everything you said is correct that’s a great answer good thank you Benji hey Rachel you you have access to that area it’s a fans dream so I got to ask you tell this to the fans what’s it like out there what’s the energy like what’s the demeanor of Abe answer out there give us a breakdown of the energy over there okay well the energy first off here in Nashville is unbelievable but ab’s energy is special he has the most Steely gaze so watch out for that today when he’s getting into his Zone he’s prepping his shots he’s visualizing watch his eyes he doesn’t blink much which shows he is seriously in the zone and is he sticking with his normal shot pattern or is he trying to work his warm-up routine both ways as he works his way through the bag I’m just seeing drawers so far with the irons and he hasn’t miss one yet it’s looking good to me it’s not a course where you really need to to be able to maneuver both ways there’s enough room out here stick with your strength I love that Rachel thanks man that’s awesome you’re welcome guys all right Rachel thank you so much for your time out there uh Jerry let’s jump into some team chat we have to talk about Fireballs GC and David poge by the way one spot away from being 10 which would put the entire team in the top 10 is he the game changer for Fireballs GC this weekend or well maybe so on Sunday when all four scores count yeah they’re all game changers in that format uh they all played great yesterday they were uh were they first or third in driving Strokes gain driving and first on the greens you put together like Abe did himself a great round driving the golf ball in the Fairway accurately and and a great round on the greens you put together those two stats you’re going to be really hard to beat if they can keep up those two statistical categories over the rest of the teams for two more days they can literally cannot be beat what do they need to do today to make that buy what should they be thinking about they need to well you go out there playing as individuals as part of a team you have to go out there and take care of your business at hand you keep an eye on the leaderboard to see how your teammates are doing but you take care of your business you do know you have that little bit of a security blanket knowing if you have a bad day it might not hurt the team but you don’t ever want to bank on that I want to talk a little bit about chakara uh and how he’s been playing out there just tell me what you’re thinking about his game as he lines up with this course is is is well the course fits him because he’s a pretty long hitter he gets a little Wayward with it he’s got a lot of motion in that kind of homebuilt looking golf swing he’s a fun guy to watch He’s a very streaky player and when you’re playing bad people call that inconsistent when you’re playing good you’re calling it streaky um I love watching the kid play so much of what he does comes down to getting the ball in play off the tea and H holding some of the putts because he’s such a world class iron player uh such a dynamic ball strier comfortably works it both ways if he gets it in the Fairway and Hol some butts you know that kind of the common theme through this whole show and everything we saw done successfully yesterday were those two things get it in the Fairway length is a use advantage on this course and wholesome putts kind of works at every golf course but for here statistically it has more importance and you said this team lines up so well with the course but a lot of teams do as you said as well torque Legion 13 Crushers GC Crushers definitely and and Legion 13 absolutely do tqu to an extent what which team would you say is most likely to bring this win this week I don’t know you know it’s a tough I Pi toque yesterday I’m sticking with him I’m we’re going with tqu all right um is there any other team that we haven’t spoken about yesterday or today that might be a dark horse on your radar well you know uh Stinger’s not playing that well right now but I like they they have one really long hitter on their team in Dean burm they got three really solid players on their team um I I I keep waiting for them to make another run uh Ripper didn’t seem to have it all that great yesterday but you never know about them they got the teams are stacked top to bottom you there’s only a few teams that really have struggled to get in contention for a Podium uh in the last two seasons so it’s really hard to round yesterday a 4 par 67 only three players went lower that he felt like a bit of a zombie so hopefully Bryson got a decent nights Kip a decent breakfast and he’ll be raring to go today um aside from Bryson and most of the eyes are on him who caught your eye yesterday and who’ you expect to do well today yeah um there’s so much attention on on Bryson you know and rightfully so after the US Open last week but I’ll tell you who intrigues me is John Catlin he’s won twice already this year um he shot 59 uh he knows how to close and uh I’ll be very interested to see how he does today and tomorrow yeah In his reserve for Bryson D shambo’s chrises would you believe only one previous professional tournament on us soil the 2021 PGA Championship he missed the cup but he’s flying today we’ll take it from you Christian at the top of the hour thank you Arlo and David and you know I wore this hat just for you too I knew you would love it so we’re going to toss it now over to Rachel Drummond once again uh Rachel what’s going on day two range walk here we are we’re going to give the Majestic some love to start with as a fellow Brit they’re in fifth position at the moment actually Ollie BS manager how’s the team fives this is a very good start for the Majestics uh yeah it was a good start um we’ve struggled I think a little bit at the start of the season to get off to a good start so it’s nice to be up at the the business end for a change we dropped a few down the a latter stage of the round yesterday so second to fifth but look we’re not complaining keep them under control Ollie let’s get a little closeup Sam horfield shot a beautiful score yesterday he’s actually gone left below right with his putting if you haven’t done that at home it is very good to do stay stabilizes the putter head through impact there’s PS we’ve got another manager actually on the bag for pts at the moment James you just what can’t you do there’s many things I can’t do pts is he doing a good job probably one he’s doing a great job yeah play well guys we’ve got Westy Helen Westward on the bag representing the ladies hi there how are you hi we love that accent right let’s keep going repper playing very steady smash let’s get a look at gu and Mr Brooks kka working extremely hard with their coaches always looking at the fundamentals nean Ortiz after a win the other week I have just seen an athlete where is he right Hatton let’s get a little close up on Hatton had a great round yesterday he’s the only player on Liv that has been in the top 24 every week since he’s joined the league works with his dad Jeff Hatton working on the [Music] fundamentals I can see Mr Greg Norman he’s having a watchful eye let’s come down here and get the Fireballs though they are leading the way [Music] currently huge playing extremely well Abe let’s get a little look at Abe that’s his trainer right there getting his body activated here we go Richie I found the man that I was looking for Calvin Johnson Calvin I you moved he moved out my way now you’re very good with your hands on the NFL hand eye coordination how does that translate to your golf game it it didn’t translate the other day for me but you know sometimes it does what’ you play off oh what that what did you play off handicap I’m 15 15’s good and who are you rooting for today man this is tough I mean all these guys are our favorite golfers but we play with ke Paul Casey and uh we play with Patrick Reed the other day so got to cheer for those guys they’re great we had a great time with them so I mean but I mean shoot I mean we met all the guys here and they’re all so cool from John ROM obviously her varer like just you know it’s hard not it’s hard not to cheer for the whole the whole whole organization yeah you’ve played you’ve named every player there thank you so much right let’s get one more look Stingers here all players under here we go going to be a great round two you know Rachel you you really do a great job giving us the fans the best behind the scenes access we could ever get the moments that you create phenomenal Calvin Johnson Hall of Famer I mean come on it doesn’t get any better than that about but there’s one guy that we’ve been talking about non-stop Bryson dambo who has had a phenomenal time a funny story for you guys from yesterday take a look at this social post from this young man who as we had Greg Bodin on our show Bryson to shambo’s caty uh we talked about this tweet where a young fan had a chance to caddy for Bryson to Shambo and he tweeted out hey Greg I’m going to steal your job so we asked jibbo about it and he said you know what but it’s not a bad idea he did a great job and here’s the tweet from him uh you got to love moments like that here at live golf league as we’re halfway through our schedule today should be an interesting day it’s hot outside light Breeze but a perfect day for some golf and there’s Bryson getting ready for another big day uh being one of the biggest names right now that everyone’s talking about in the sport of golf and what a pleasure it is to watch this guy do what he does best man of the people giving you autographs out
