In this video I discuss the strategy for playing short par 4 holes where you may have the fire power to drive the green. I compare two holes, on two different courses, and discuss some of the factors I take into consideration when deciding how I’ll play the hole. The considerations include:
– Thickness of the rough around the green
– Firmness of the turf around the green
– Hazards which are in play around the green
– The size, elevation and visual sight lines of the potential landing areas and pin position on the green
– Wind direction and strength
– Preferred and required shot shapes
– How I’ve been hitting my driver on the previous holes
