oh hey [Music] he from my vantage point not a single cloud is in the sky as we return to russley Detroit junor park for our fourth of July exhibition game as the Buffalo diesel come home to play the Jamestown tarp skunks it’s Matty G alongside Dre Guinness once again thank you so much for joining us and Dre I don’t know about you but you could not ask for a better day for baseball absolutely Picture Perfect not a cloud in the sky blue bathing the sky the sun is out the field looks absolutely gorgeous and a perfect day for exhibition baseball as this is going to be an out of League game doesn’t count in the stats doesn’t count in the standings but on fireworks night what a way to launch into a Fourth of July holiday week absolutely now we did push back the game a half an hour because it is fireworks night we wanted to make sure that the sun is fully down before the fireworks get let off for those in attendance tonight so that is the reason why we had a little bit of a late start this is still on time and on schedule and as the Stars line the infield like the uh inner circle with the Batters boxes it’s our fourth of July fireworks night I’m excited Dre’s excited it’s going to be a great day and it’s going to be a fun day for baseball especially considering that I don’t think it counts for either team as it is exhibition this game will be wiped clean this is all just about fun Hometown base ball almost street ball if you will yeah I kind of get you know some of the guys on the on the bottom of the roster getting some reps in here tonight completely different look uh from what we’ve seen normally from the tarp skunks so you know Ryan Hill taking that into account resting some of his regulars getting some of the guys that haven’t gotten as many opportunities to get some uh playing time today in front of the home team and I’m expecting fireworks during the game as well as after the game because if there’s one thing that the tarp skunks have shown in the past couple of games is that their bats have come alive last night at bavia they only were able to manage five hits they ran into some great pitching last night um but you know they have been swinging the bats well as of late and hopefully you know that will start to matriculate down the line from the top of the lineup all the way down to the bottom yeah absolutely and I think we should take a look at the starting lineup to see if those fireworks will come off the bat hoping to see Sparks on the wood tonight Who’s Buffalo got today well Buffalo has an interesting lineup because they’re not uh they are not providing an extra hitting so extra hitter and they only have uh four guys down in the um Dugout in relief so it looks like from what we have now unless we are corrected during the course of the game which can happen leading off and playing shortstop will be number seven Victor mazara batting second at third base will be Mark Delo the right Fielder batting third Jacob Victor the designated hitter Nick Jasinski will bat fourth Max sharder easy sharter sharter easy for me to say uh will be behind the dish batting fifth Joey Haynes at first bat sixth the left fielder jaay Burton bat seventh Nick galente the second baseman batting eighth batting ninth Adam shabetta playing center field and on the mound batting 10th is going to be the pitcher Andrew fra taking a look at the starting lineup for the Jamestown tarp skunks again a little bit different than what you’re normally seeing in our lineup Austin matranga leads off in Bat second bats first and plays at second base Eli harpalani in center field bats second Henry xuan batting third and will be the designated hitter Shanel Maldonado batting fourth the extra hitter Tommy Schroeder in right field tonight bats fifth e Eli Wallace betting uh Sixth and playing Third Base Noah Brooks betting seventh behind the dish the left fielder Connor kefir batting eighth and batting ninth Steven scarone at first space and round it out Brandon mlan Banks at shortstop batting 10 on the mound for the tarp skunks a name that we have not seen on the mound in a tarp skunks uniform kind of a surprise but we’ll see what he has going to be a fun one taking a look at the defensive alignment for the tarp skunks it’s going to be Conor Kefir in left field Eli harpalani in Center Griffin Snider in right field Aiden Wallace at third base Brandon mlan Banks at Short Austin matranga at second Steven scarone at first behind the brook behind the dish is going to be Noah Brooks and on the mound Clayton Kaiser left-handed pitcher making his first start for the tarp skunks and here to tell you all about the first couple Innings of this exciting exhibition match on fireworks night it is Daddy G thank you very much Mr Guinness so Clayton Kaiser on the mound usually plays on The Outfield portion of the field for the skunks but he will make a start tonight 63 210 lbs a freshman from drwy University an exercise physiology major hailing from Willard Missouri so he will be seeing Mazzara Deo and Jacob Victor the top three hitters here to lead off the game taking a look at mazara he’s from the University of Albany yeah looking up and down the uh diesel roster it was hard to find any a lot of information about this team online uh but we were able to get the roster and just looking at some of the uh colleges on this list rather impressive yeah the I had a chance to talk to uh general manager uh Christian dolch here before the game and I asked him about some of that sort of thing where saying that you and I had a bit of a struggle in order to find information he goes yeah but don’t underestimate them look at some look at some of their colleges Bonaventure kishis uh like some of the guys that they have on here are nothing to sneeze at and that’s what I’m excited to see to see if it’s going to be a competitive ball game tonight against the Buffalo diesel as Clayton Kaiser has finished his warm-up pitches and we are all set and ready to go here at historic Russell e Dietrich Jr Park the umpires are set and ready as well they’ve done their signs and we are underway first pitch is a hit by pitch Clips him on the inner elbow and Victor mazara is aboard that’s an unfortunate way to to start a ball game for both a pitcher and a hitter first pitch hit by pitch doesn’t set a tone Mark Deo to the plate now he will play third base for the diesel tonight from Mercy Hurst University he does have a brother on the team Joe de o his first pitch high for ball one and the next pitch from Kaiser in the dirt for ball two 72 degre slight breeze out there flags just barely flapping around out in Center the 20-0 delivery h check swing didn’t go around the counts three and0 so four straight balls here for Clayton Kaiser having a little bit of difficulty finding the Zone here early on as the three-oh pitch there’s the heart of the plate nice fast ball by Kaiser that’s pretty much what we’ve seen from him on every pitch pitching from the third base side of the rubber the 3-1 swinging a miss and Kaiser has worked it all the way back the counts full you know I’m not sure how much work Kaiser has had on the mound here at Dietrich Park definitely different from a bpen though the payoff pitch high and inside and the first two batters are aboard by HBP and a base on balls and that’ll bring up Jacob Victor Jacob Victor an outfielder hailing from kishis college so the D1 athlete stepping up to the plate here for the Buffalo Diesel and he looks like an absolute unit definitely a power hitter worth being in the three hole Big Boy keeping his hands quiet at the it hits uh it hits Victor on the inner knee and the wildness of Clayton Kaiser has loaded the bases and there hasn’t been any batting contact yet yeah and if I’m no a Brooks the first thing I’m going out there is I’m saying move closer to move closer to the center of the rubber because he is having a difficult time with right-handed pitcher or right-handed hitters and I think it’s because he’s on the extreme part of the rubber if he makes the adjustment I think he’ll be able to find the inside corner part of the plate a lot easier so Kaiser going to have to work a little bit Bas is loaded nobody out the diesel threatening early here for Nick jinsky wearing the highest number we’ve seen on any player in this season number 87 from the University of Buffalo he only plays designated hitter his first pitch over the heart of the plate for strike one at the knees and he is waving that bat back and forth inside the box like a man possessed wide open stance toward left this is all that he does he only hits for the University of Buffalo the 01 lined up the middle and off of Kaiser’s ankle fielded by matranga over to First in time so a 143 put out out and they’re going to check on Kaiser to make sure that he is okay as that one ripped off of his ankle good job by Austin matranga over at second to quickly make the adjustment and realize where that ball was going and stop on a dime to make that put out Kaiser appears to be okay yeah that was a tough defensive Play Breaking toward the bag on the initial line drive and once it clipped off of Kaiser’s ankle having to change direction mid speed uh mid stride so a run does come across so the score is one to nothing as Max schmart the catcher comes to the plate his first pitch way high for ball one schmart a catcher and an infielder hailing from the University of Tusculum his 1 fouled into the netting actually first souvenir of the night think that one went over the it might have actually gone over the Press Box as the some of the grounds crew is standing on the rooftop watching the game from some of the best seats in the House almost got drilled The 1-1 Swinging a miss and Kaiser in firm control of this at bat counts one and two and Kaiser is most effective when he’s throwing his fast ball he tried to throw a couple off speed pitches a little bit wild and that’s one of the things that I think the tarp skunks need to focus on more is establishing the fast ball before they start getting into the offspeed stuff as that one that curveball was fouled into the light post and actually almost hit a diesel player or two also almost went in their trash can that would have been impressive off the light post into the trash can nothing but net that’s some dude perfect stuff right there the one-w delivery curveball just inside good location by Clayton Kaiser the right idea but sharter holds off and the counts two and two the pitch has worked the count full three and two so you’ve got Deo Off Third and Victor off of second Wallace playing even with the bag at third infield playing rather shallow Kaiser come set the payoff pitch to sharter inside ball four so Kaiser struggling a bit to find the Zone here obviously this is exhibition so there is less uh less to worry about in terms of pressure for Clayton Kaiser obviously you’re still going to want to win and put on a show for the skunks fans but hopefully he’ll be able to find something soon Joey Haynes to the plate now the first baseman for the diesel his first pitch high and outside haes another D1 player from the University of kishis the one0 inside good stop by Brooks as that pitch was in the dirt keeping it in front of him two and0 the count now and I have a feeling that uh Ryan Hill is going to let Clayton Kaiser go as long as he physically can don’t want to you you know on a day like this you want to go ahead and give your Bullpen guys as much of a rest as possible the 2 high for ball three so a another 3oh count here from Clayton Kaiser his three-oh delivery high and another and it’s a four pitch walk so two runs have come across for the Buffalo diesel the tarp skunk’s crew will call time and come out and have a talk with him as two runs have come across but not a single base hit for the Buffalo diesel as it’s been hit walk or hit by pitch walk hit by pitch put out walk walk yeah for you know again this is this is a I’m not sure how much experience Kaiser has on the mound he does have a presence out there so he’s done this before but you know obviously he’s been focusing this season on you know playing in the Outfield trying to you know work on his hitting getting thrown into this uh situation here Jace burnden to the plate now his first pitch is ball five the next Kaiser pitch bounces in front of the righty batters box and that’s ball two so Kaiser really struggling here 20 the count one out Bas is still loaded here for the Buffalo diesel the two- delivery is outside for ball three so Kaiser can’t really find the plate so far today and at what point you actually say you know what even though it’s an exhibition game I think we need to get someone else out there well that’s exactly what’s happening as the bullpen has started warming up the 3oh pitch is ball four again and that is eight straight Balls by Clayton Kaiser two straight four pitch walks and the diesel are up early three to nothing here so the bullpen has begun its warm-ups as Nick as uh Nick galenti comes up to the plate galenti and infielder from Central Methodist his first pitch is Ball nine good stop by Brooks to keep it in front of him and underneath him Kaiser going back to the windup probably feels a little bit more comfortable from it the 10 is high for ball two and that’s the 10 straight balls from Clayton Kaiser Kaiser really trying to dig deep here trying to find where that zone is 20 got the heart of the plate that time and after 10 straight counts two and one the two1 pitch inside ball three the 3-1 delivery over the heart of the plate and the Count’s full fans trying to Rally behind Clayton Kaiser as they can see that he is struggling giving him some cheers for the next strikes the payoff pitch swinging a [Music] miss and galente is is down on strikes there are now two away here and Kaiser has an opportunity to limit the damage as it is Adam Adam scaba scaba to the plate now with tway here scaba from Niagara County Community College from nle C his first pitch foul tip strike one Kaiser starting to gain a little bit of confidence just rear back and throw the Rick vongh approach forget about the curveball go for the eater the 01 over the heart of the play to the knees and it’s 0 and two so 02 two out Bas is loaded here Kaiser with an opportunity to limit the damage and Shrink that crooked number not let it progress any further the O2 ground ball up the three four hole and into right field for a base hit one run across two runs across as the ball is cut off by Steven scarone as the first hit of the night is a big one a two out two RBI single and it is five to nothing now and I have a feeling Dre that if scarone didn’t cut that off that they had a shot at having the third out of the plate there yeah absolutely um the throw was very online scarone though I think was just trying to prevent the runner going from second to third though as the pitcher Andrew frond to the plate now his first pitch high for ball one that’s berdon on second base scaba at first the one oh fouled in the box and off of the pitcher’s ankle and you know he frun took a big hack at that he’s almost uh putting as much power into it as uh someone like Madison bumgardner remember when he used to hit he had some power in his Bat that was almost scary at times oh yeah I you know being a Giants fan mad bum is very familiar with me as far as you know one of the most memorable he had a two home run game opening day against Arizona so that pitch was inside it’s two and one the count the pitch to FR from Kaiser fouled back and off the Press Box you know one of the things that I’ve always thought about mad buom is you know he he started to lose it a bit in Arizona well he started losing it in San Francisco but then went to Arizona and struggled mightily I don’t know why they didn’t just put him at DH cuz he he could have probably extended his career another five years just playing DH the two two runners go swinging a Miss FR down on strikes but not before the major damage was done five runs on only one hit as with Victor mazara Andrew frond is not hitting in the lineup so it was mazara that went down on strikes there in the top of the first I was starting to question that a little bit as you as in this level you don’t normally see pitchers hit unless they’re a dual player but FR is only a pitcher so I do apologize for that as he steps up to the plate it’s going to be matranga harpalani and Juan first pitch to matranga in there for strike one by Andrew FR well you know it it like we said it was hard to get information on the Buffalo diesel online as that pitch bounced in the dirt a good five six feet in front of the plate and Dr and I can see the marking where that landed very clearly replace your divots the 1- one outside count two and one now this is baseball not Cricket or golf well then again you bounce a ball in the dirt for Cricket as that pitch fouled back two and two cuz that’s technically what you do in cricket you bounce a ball in the ground and then they hit it yeah and I you know I don’t know how many times I’ve tried to watch cricket I don’t understand it at all me neither the 2 two inside three and two matranga working the count full skunk’s got a lot of work to do with the bats as they are down five nothing here only in the bottom of the first the payoff pitch ground ball toward the Tony gwi hole fielded by mazara long throw pulling hannes off the bag and matranga aboard with a leadoff single yeah that was a tough play for mazera at Short having to range all the way to third base and then from deep in the hole stop his momentum and try to get the throw off that was a good piece of hitting by AA matranga going the other way and that brings up Eli harpalani to the plate now a tranga with a big lead off first first pitch to matranga out or to harpalani outside for ball one yeah I made mention of uh their designated hitter that Pitch hit harpalani nicked him on the shoulder as Fran gives him a little Sweet Chin Music so harani is aboard and that’ll bring up Henry Jan Jan’s been swinging a hot bat for the tarp skunks opportunity for him to keep it going here Jan’s first pitch from FR more Sweet Chin Music Juan duck Matrix Ducks out of the way so a little wildness on both sides here in the first inning kind of an odd thing with a runner on second base hannes is basically covering first base at this point as the 10 pitch curveball dips over the heart of the plate for strike one yeah wide open look at that wide open Gap the one one hits it high into that Gap but into shallow right field underneath it is Victor and he will make the grab for out number one if he got that down he just missed it just got underneath it if he was over top of it by just a little bit that would have been an easy single possibly scoring matranga but unfortunately he just got underneath that pitch but that’ll bring up shael Maldonado Maldonado the extra hitter tonight his first pitch is in the dirt matranga is going to try to advance the [Applause] throw swim move around the tag that’s some Javier Bas swim move crap right there by matranga riskiness paying off I thought he was dead to rights yeah absolutely thought he was dead to rights too but you know I’ll P was right there to make the call the one0 pitch over the heart of the plate for strike one harani did not Advance on that pitch so it is Runners on first and third the 1- one over shaniel maldonado’s head both Runners will advance and a run will score as the wild pitch makes it 5 to one and harpalani Advance into second you know the tarp skunks don’t get many of these kind of breaks and it’s nice to see one go in their way see if they can continue to move the lineup along and put up a crooked number in response so the 2-1 ground ball over the head of FR fielded by galente the throw to first in time harpalani advancing on the play but Maldonado on the 4-3 putaway there are two out for Griffin Snider Snider normally a pitcher for the skunks getting an opportunity to get out into the field today his first pitch is between behind the batter the [Applause] throw in time what a play by sharter to get harbal at the plate haralan tried almost like a Josh Harrison esque move around the plate but good job by fron sticking with it for the third out out of the inning one run on one hit no one left on base we go to the top of the second it’s 5 to one in normally this is a night I’d wear jeans feels like mid April out here today yeah so it’s 67° outside right now in goodye Arizona it’s a 103 die nope as that is going to bring up Mark Deo his first pitch from calik Over the heart of the plate for strike one so yeah 67 to 103 like this is almost winter for calic the 01 pitch grounded to First fielded cleanly by scarone he will take it himself for out number one this is this is to be honest this is my kind of weather I could live if I could find a place that was like this 300 days a year that’s where I would be first pitch well Jacob Victor is about to receive his first pitch taking his sweet old time coming to the plate and the one thing I got to mention when uh when I talked to as that first pitch in the dirt for ball one when I talked to Christian Dolce or dolch about this team the Buffalo diesel he didn’t tell tell me that the manager is from FSU as that first pitch over the or that next pitch over the heart of the plate one and one the count Paul wolf from Florida State University as that Pitch hit high and deep into left field going back is kefir he will make it about 20t from the warning track the grab for out number two so Nick chinski the batter and going back to I keep trying to bring this up wearing number 87 did you have a number that you had to wear were you superstitious about your number yes what number was that 51 really as that first pitch low for ball one yes the Randy Johnson number the Randy Johnson number I received that my JV year in high school and I wore it every year since swing did go around counts one and one so yes I received it from my coach and he said you remind me of him I don’t know why considering I’m not I’m not as tall as him that pitch over the heart of the plate for strike two counts one and two I’m nowhere near as tall as the guy and I was still a J in JV baseball in high school but after that brown ball threw the Tony gwin hole and it’s a base hit for Nick ginski you know I’ve never I’ve never been as big as him I never threw as hard as him but the moment that happened I was like yeah I’ll stick with this maybe it was the goatee did you have a goatee at the time not at the not at the time no remember I was still in JV baseball in high school at the time I didn’t start trying to grow anything until I was like 18 19 years old so first pitch to Max schmarr ground ball weak Chopper foul so yes 51 was my number if I could have it because there were other teams that had uniforms that were provided for us mhm and then if I had that uh if I had to choose from the numbers available I would try to go for six pickoff attempt over to First nothing doing there why six because it was a high school number given to me when I was called up my Varsity like called up to Varsity my freshman year that pitch in the dirt swinging a Miss counts 0 and two so it was the number given to me so I was like you know what I’ll just stick with it you know you already have it stick with it like why change anything if it ain’t broke don’t fix it because it’s a number that people will recognize you by the 02 lined into left field in front of Connor kefir and it is another single This Time by Max schmarr and that’ll bring up the first baseman Joey Haynes so I I mean I was like that myself you know when I when I was playing in Little League I would always try to get number nine um but once I got you know older and was able to choose my own number 54 interesting first pitch to Haynes fouled back why 54 um it’s it’s a it’s kind of a long and contrived reason um we’ve got time yeah it’s true um it’s just nine is a VAR or you know nine or multiples of nine so 9 27 or 54 were the three numbers that I would feel comfortable wearing as that pitch over the heart of the plate for strike two so as long as it was a multiple of nine you didn’t care well no it couldn’t be eight and it couldn’t be uh 36 or 45 had to be either 9 27 or 54 the 02 lined in right underneath it is mazara the throw in time and a 6-3 put away is the first out of of the inning that was a nice hit though by Snider hard hit ground ball mazara had to drop to a knee to field it so Aiden Wallace to the plate now his first pitch from FR lined into right center field and that’s going to drop for a base hit so a one- out single for Aiden Wallace and a one pitch at bat brings up the catcher Noah Brooks yeah that was a nice approach looking first pitch fast ball kind of stayed back on it for just a little extra drove it into right field that one almost if it had a little bit more juice to it could have gone deeper in the Gap first pitch to Brooks little bit high for ball one going back to the numbers thing though my brother pushed me to try to join the high school football team that pitch actually hit the light did not break it did not break it I don’t know how but it went inside the light one of the lights on the light post staff the 1-1 pitch foul back and the counts one and two so he convinced me to go out for football so I did and uh my my intention was I wanted to go play linebacker because linebackers get their numbers in the 50s I thought I was going to get 54 they gave me outside for ball one is that you know for left-handers one of the biggest reasons that a lot of left-handed hitters are so successful is that they’re swinging down on the ball scarone seems to just have an uppercut the 1-1 called strike two on the outside corner scarone a little confused about that call he also had issues with the outside part of the plate the entire season the onew high and outside and it’s almost like FR Got The Scouting Report the two two pitch just outside and scarone has worked the count full Wallace and Brooks will be in motion on this pitch the payoff Runners do go fielder Adam scaba calik looks in likes the sign he gets and steps back off wipes some of the sweat off his forehead just keeping burden in check as the first pitch taken for a strike at the knees 0 and one bdon active over there at second and I like the way he takes his lead he takes about five steps backwards off the bag and then creeps up as a swing and a miss for strike two it’s kind of unique gives them a little bit of a uh momentum Edge I’m not sure that’s legal though as the 02 pitch got scaba looking on the outside corner and the first out of the inning that’s going to bring up the short stop Victor mazara mazara who batted twice in the first inning was hit by a pitch at scored and struck out to end the first inning and the first pitch check swing the appeal down and no go skunks have been waiting for for a while as that pitch popped up on the infield coming in as the first baseman Hayes he overruns it and it falls behind him and all that is going to be is an eventful strike too I don’t you can’t say the wind knocked it down cuz there is no wind no but also you have to count him a little hes a little bit of slack with how high that ball was hit looking running while looking straight up you have a possibility to become dizzy and like misjudge the depth perception because there really is no depth to percept there as the one-w pitch taken outside close for a ball two and two yeah I’ll concede that point pitch taken for a ball snap throw down the first Gets behind Hayes and goes into right field Griffin Snider will advance on the throwing air by The Catcher sharter And it’s two and two or make that three and two Wallace waits in that pitch Tak it inside for a ball and he draws a walk the inning continues for Noah Brooks there are a ton of fans here in the stands today uh you know definitely a lot of people coming out to see some hot tarp skunks action as this inning is definitely going to continue the tars skunks are looking to see if they and0 as the action in the diesel Bullpen continues to heat up that one in the Dirt 3 and0 and fr the wheel have come off and looking at Ryan Hill he just gave Noah Brooks the green light if this pitch is down the middle he’s going to be looking to put this one over 340 ft the 3 0 taken right down the middle for a strike 3-1 well Color Me humbled well I mean you know he might have been looking fast ball away saw that one in and decided not to swing as the 3-1 gr line drive into left field that’s a base hit rounding third and heading to to the plate and scoring is Snider and the tarp skunks have our camera crew that unfortunately we are not going to be able to show the fire works as if we tried we would end up losing the feed and the camera would go down as it was so I apologize for that as and you know what Dre I think we got to give the mvs to the entire pitching staff I think we call it now you know like the entire pitching staff coming in and putting in work and putting up scoreless Innings you know that’s just something you got to K like tip your cap to Brady Wright with the RBI double you know starting to recap it now first pitch to Victor low for ball one I mean um I’m not going to limit it to just the pitch that were out there you have to give it to everybody who started this ball game too that played uh you know majority out in the field they played a tremendous ball game this entire team is the mvs tonight and absolutely agreed we’re kind of shortening things up a little bit as we do have to end the stream early for the fireworks show the 2-0 pitch called strike
