This putting drill helped Hideki Matsuyama win the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club on the PGA TOUR

let’s break down this Hideki Matsuyama putting drill that helped him win the Genesis Invitational this year at Riviera Country Club real quick if you’re new here I’m the golf do I post tips and drills be sure to hit that subscribe if you’re looking to lower those scores so all you’re going to need here is just a short little tea you don’t want to go too deep into the putting green place that tea all the way in the ground where it’s just above ground level now place your ball just in front of that tea and the object here is to hit slightly up on the golf ball that’ll help the ball start to roll quicker off the club face now what this drill will do is show you if you were hitting too down on the golf ball if you hit too down on the golf ball that will cause backspin and the ball will skid as it come off the putter face so if you are hitting down on the golf ball with this drill you will strike the te and it will be very obvious that you have hit down on the golf ball you do not want to do this the more the ball skids off the putter face the more likely it is to knock off line or reduce the speed of the putt so remember to swing slightly up on the ball to get it rolling and stay true to its line be sure to subscribe for more
