I want to talk to you about how you can use an alignment stick to improve your chipping one of the biggest faults I see is people trying to lift the ball up into the air with their hands problem is when we’re playing golf is when we lift the ball or we release the hands too early what happens to the Leading Edge of the club is the Leading Edge of the club starts to lift and that’s when we get that club delivered to the middle of the ball and we skull it straight across the green so a really nice easy way to make maintain angles while you’re chipping is to use an alignment stick so what you’re going to do is you’re going to take your alignment stick in your lead hand and you’re going to take the club in your Trail hand and you’re going to put them together you’re going to have about two foot of excess of the alignment stick down the shaft there and then the rest of it as you can see sticks out the end of the club so when I address the ball now I’m in that position and you can see clearly there that I have the alignment stick up this side of my body if you flick your wrists now straight away what happens is the alignment stick hits you so it gives you instant feedback as to whether you’ve actually scooped your hands the idea of this is to try and maintain angles throughout the Chip Shot so you want to feel like you’re going to keep your hands away from your body and without releasing to stop that alignment stick hitting you in the side if you’re fed up a thinning shots across the green then this is definitely the drill for you
